Here's what I would recommend:

First, make a list of EVERY association you have with Oranges (even if it's as mundane as school lunch.) Every memory you have of eating them, every random detail that comes to your mind. Trust your intuition and elaborate if anything bubbles to the surface.

Second, reflect on any odd encounter (of any sort) that you can remember. Again, trust your intuition on this and follow the thread. I have a feeling you've got a lot a lot more information than you realize about all this.

At first I was thinking that Rose was a stalker or part of a cult. However, as this story expands I'm starting to think you're facing some kind of paranormal monster. The whole tilting of the head and that man walking in knee deep water has shifted my view of this problem. There's too many strange things going on for there to be a logical explanation for everything.

What language/s is/are being spoken by Rose and the man in the suit? I noticed she's speaking to your grandmother, mother, you, your girlfriend, in numerous countries, not all of which are primarily English-speaking. Are they able to converse in multiple languages and how fluently if so? Interesting! Although I don't know how it would be helpful.

I went on a 4 hour hike today around the coast line. It was absolutely beautiful! Every half hour or so I would come across orange peels.. some looked old, like they had been out there for some time and others looked fresh. I never saw anyone else on the trail besides the friends that were accompanying me at the time. Near the end of the trail you walk up a huge hill. To the left of that hill is a steep cliff that would take you straight into the North Atlantic ocean if you ever were unfortunate enough to fall off of it. There are fences up in certain areas to stop people from getting to close to the edge. I walked up to one of the fences just for a peek at how high up we were. On the very edge of the cliff was an orange. A whole, fresh looking orange. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My friends stopped wondering what I was looking at and they noticed the orange as well. We all chatted about how it was so strange for an orange to be so close to the edge and who on earth would take the time to put it there. They rationalized that it must have been the wind that took the orange to where it was. I didn't have the nerve to tell them about this story and what I thought about all the orange peels and the random orange on the cliff. I've been thinking about it since I got back to my apartment. I wonder would I have noticed the orange if I didn't read these stories?

Once, about 15 years ago, a man appeared in my apartment. He was very tall and wore a black suit and one of those tall black top hats. Kinda sounds like the guy your grandmother met.

OK, OP. Some thoughts:

• No computer is secure if somebody has physical access to it. That said, if you encrypt your OS disk with a decently strong passphrase, it's pretty much impossible to break into the existing OS install and its files (you need to reformat the thing and lose the data, or kidnap/torture the owner for the keys.) I'd be inclined to do this anyway just incase you leave your PC somewhere, like in a Starbucks or on the D-train.

• Have you double-checked (get a unix-savvy friend to do so if your skills aren't up to scratch) that she didn't leave you a keylogger or something that'll remotely enable your webcam? This is probably important.

• We can't tell, because imgur strips all the metadata it can (AFAIK), but does your new background image have any interesting metadata in it?

• Have you thought about getting a friend with access to an HPLC machine (or GC/MS) to analyse the flesh and the juice of this orange? That should tell you if she's trying to drug you.

'Dude, I know you say that you don't believe in the supernatural, but just because you don't believe it doesn't mean there isn't a possibility that this is real. Dear OP, first off let me congratulate you for the very well put together log that you have provided for us, it is quite intriguing to read about your experiences. I wish for you that this will come to an end soon for the well-being of you and your love ones.

Let me tell you what brought me here; A friend of mine was a little uneasy when I offered an orange to her the other day before going hiking, I asked what was wrong and she explained the story and gave me the link to your updates. I have read [what I think are] all your updates and find them very interesting making me want to check my window every now and then :) in other words I think you have a way with your words and your experiences that makes people become a bit paranoid (if not very).

I would like to, if I may, contribute with my opinion on the story starting with the picture many people have analyzed on this thread. I have myself made a quick analysis and find a few possible explanations for what seems "weird" or "freaky". The shadow you cast is almost the same (about 20' angle) as your relative and friends because you are all standing close to each other. The further back you go the more the angle decreases as the Sun is stationary. The shadow behind the woman in orange seems to belong to someone (more-likely short or a child) if you look closer to the woman's left shoulder you'll notice a small bulge, (the top part of a blonde's head perhaps?) if you measure with a pen from that bulge to the base were the shadow seems to start and spin the pen clockwise (not moving the base of the pen) you'll find that are consistent. The reason you cannot see the shadow of the people behind is because they are too far behind so their shadow (from the camera's perspective) is nearly 0' or in other words forming a 90' angle making it hard to see. The remaining shadow on the left (relative's right hand) seems like a lamp or sign hanging from the building as their angle is also consistent with it. One thing I did find interesting is the face of the far back orange shirt person, looks abnormally bright, it almost looks like the person was wearing something shinny since it has the same effect as the car on the right. I could not find an explanation about suddenly appearing on your laptop but then again there is no evidence of that other than your word which I believe.

Sounds like something supernatural. I would say some kind of cult or group of crazy people, but the not aging, child voices and vivid colors kind of overshadow that. Now, what I suggest is this: while most people suggest carrying holy water or having a bottle near you when you sleep, here's the problem with that. If an entity or whatever really wants to, they can just move the bottle and you're shit out of luck. However, what you can do is buy a Mossberg 500 Chainsaw (12-guage shotgun, $399 at the nearest Cabela's), and but some custom made water rounds. These are normally used for taking out explosives wired to glass with break sensors or whatnot. Fill them with holy water. Won't put holes in your walls, might actually help you, and if it is just a bunch of crazy people, those things hurt like a motherfucker, worse than a beanbag round, so you'd have a crazy lady on the floor in pain while you call the cops. Salt rounds would work too, salt circles can keep demons away.

This man your grandmother saw. The sightings were at least 20 years apart each. And the first one occurred when she was a small child and the second occurred when she had just given birth in a hospital. It seems likely that your grandmother saw different men each time, but with identical suits, identical haircuts, and similar facial traits. After all, if this is some weird cult, it's very possible that the first man she saw was the father of the second man she saw, and so on and so on.

Most cults are based on a religion, and I really don't like the way these people sound. What I would do, is take every single precaution I could to make myself as least vulnerable as possible. Never travel anywhere alone. Lock all doors and windows, always. Have 911 on speed dial. Check in with your girlfriend every hour on the hour so if you don't check in, she knows right away something is wrong. Dont go out at night or anywhere you might be more likely to be harassed by these people. And most importantly, BUY A GUN. you can find a good 9mm for less than $200. Make the investment, keep it loaded, and keep it loaded at all times. Next time you see her, tell her to her face that if you see her again, you will shoot to kill. If you see her again after that, shoot to kill. Don't hesitate and don't think twice. Deal with the repercussions afterward. At least you and your girlfriend will be safe. The only one I could come up with, and it is tedious..is the 'christingle'. It is a symbolic religous thing made up of an orange, candles, e.t.c. The orange represents the World. About your overall experiences, I would recommend to seek professional help. Talk to someone who will not make money or fame out of your experiences but rather helps you whatever the issue may be. Now I’m not implying you are losing it nor that you are making things up, I simply suggest that you look at it from every angle you can, fellow redditors may or may not be much help as I noticed some increased the belief of something truly dangerous or diabolic is after you. A fresh look at the situation may help you realize certain things or connect dots.
I work in the medical field and currently studying physics and calculus to eventually obtain another degree. In my experience I have heard people talk about after life experiences, seen people who believe w/o a doubt that the government, aliens or demons follow them. More often than not these cases have a logical explanation, your case does not fit here as they seem to go back a few generations and other people have experience/seen related events w/o you telling them about it. However folklore and urban legends are passed this way some even have some truth to it. When I was a child there was a legend about a man with a black suit and a hat that offered kids marvels, needless to say at that age every time I saw a man on a suit I would get scared beyond belief. Another factor that comes in to play is our brain, it’s job is to label things and sometimes that could be tricky; what we think is too much of a coincidence might just be normal when seen from another perspective (except for the grin and the child’s voice, that’s just not normal). I consider myself emotionally strong and very factual although there are a few experiences (2 actually) that to this day I cannot explain myself. This is the reason why I do believe there is more than meets the eye, the day I come to conclusions will be the same day I can safely say I always find an explanation for every “weird” activity. Anyhow always remember that extraordinary claims always require extraordinary evidence, once you have this follow up on it and take action, usually when there is more than one answer to a problem the simpler is more likely to be right. The reason why I encourage you to seek professional helps is because science is always a reliable source, there is evidence, studies, research, proven methods among other things that back it up as opposed to (with all due respect) cults or religion or klans, for these, no matter how much evidence you bring to the table it’s never enough either the “process was altered” or “not done right” etc. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this then try it yourself;
Set cameras around your house, nowadays is pretty affordable to have a security system (mine being $30/month) if you can’t afford that at least get a cheap camera and set it up on the front door or you bedroom that way you have a case to pursue with the authorities. Get a firearm, if you are not a citizen then get one for your significant other and keep it close for protection. If that is not an option either, get a taser or peppermint spray, sometimes stalkers can escalate and do unthinkable things, especially when drugs on board. Try to be more factual, if you think you saw something and then suddenly is not there or in a different place, remember that everything that has mass has to obey the law of physics and what doesn’t e.g. ghosts, entities or demons according to the “spiritual law” also have rules. I truly hope you and your love ones keep safe and anxiously await for your next update.

There is a shadow in that picture that I can't associate with a visible person. It's right behind the woman on the left. I don't see a person that shadow should belong to

Ever since I stumbled upon your first account with Rose, a distant memory from my childhood started to surface. I wish there was some way I could suppress it, some way I could forget all about that day in the store. It's starting to haunt me the more I read...especially late at night when I desperately try to fall asleep.

I was around 5 years old (just before kindergarten began) and I was out running errands with my mother, as I usually did on week days since she stayed at home. Our last stop was at a well known American department store. As an only child at the time, I always tried to find unique ways to entertain myself. From riding underneath the grocery carts at the grocery store, to hopping from tile to different colored tile on the floor. This particular time, I hid in one of the nearby clothing racks.

"Mommy! I bet you can't find me!", I'd shout.

No response.

"Mommy! Guess where I am!"

Still, no response.

I remember a sinking feeling at that moment, thinking that perhaps she had walked off without me.

That's when it happened. A hand parted two of the clothes garments, reaching into my hiding place. It was the hand of a man...and it was holding (you guessed it) an orange. I remember being confused..but for whatever reason, I began to reach for it.

That's when my mother's hand came through and grabbed my sleeve. I turned and walked out from the clothing rack.

She scolded me then for wandering off. I turned to look back and there was no man to be seen. He had simply vanished...

Can you guys possibly look deeper into the picture for something subliminal such as an orange tree. Something as red as the creepy Rose's lipstick, or as pale as her skin. Why the heck does that person standing in the distance above your mother's head, appear to be staring directly into the camera's lens.

Okay OP just a thought did she smell bad at all? After seeing her when she wasn't with your mother obviously she wouldn't smell? If she did smell at all, orange peels are used to give a citric aroma to rooms that could also be a meaning to the reason that she was handing you the orange. Another thought, they could be the parents of Slenderman who knows man? Last thought, what about another approach about the whole situation, maybe she simply wanted to give you the orange idk, like some people over analyze things, looking for a deeper meaning, she was probably some mental person that was schizophrenic and decided to give you her orange? Idk man good luck to you though!!!

Maybe this Man in Black and Rose are some sort of created...machines or organisms. Created by something extremely intelligent - I don't know enough to have any good guesses as to what that could be. The Man in Black and Rose could be specifically designed to strike fear into humans to get the humans (or human - you) to serve some purpose. This would explain why the Man in Black and Rose don't seem to age, how they could walk through a war zone so confidently, how "Rose" would know of you and your girlfriend before you met, etc. Something intelligent beyond our knowledge may want to use you as a pawn somehow. Just to present a theory that isn't supernatural (I don't think of unknown intelligent beings as supernatural - they're just smart and we don't know about them, assuming they are there).

I know this is really late and you've already uploaded more installations of your story, but I felt like commenting as I go along; go all Agatha Christie, see if I'm right. Haha sorry to bother you!

Don't know if this irrelevant but there is a show that reminds me of what your explaining. Basically the child is picked from the very beginning(like back to grandparents day) to lead demons (the show is supernatural). It might be completely irrelevant but the way your story is going, it does give a notion of a "chosen one."

I try my hardest to believe everything I read in no sleep, but this is the first piece of writing that I don't believe and think is stupid. Just picturing them walking into a war zone smiling seems a bit too "movie like". Just putting my opinion out there.

The funniest part is that no one is accepting their damn orange. They must be mad. Next time, ask them if they're mad or jelly (maybe marmalade?). Seems like they're generally powerless unless you accept the fruit. Fuck them and ask them to bring you an apple or an avocado next time.

I can probably give a sketch of Rose to you, only if you give a great description, I will do my best. They may be part of a cult but you have to be a bit leanient with what I will tell you. They might be from a different time period or dimension, the reason that they don't age is because when they are gone it is only mere seconds compared to our time, this is the theory for them being from a different dimension than us. The theory for them being from the future may be harder to explain, but the idea is that there are either clones of them, they have invented an antiaging serum, or they tell their past selves the next "mission" they are told to do. There is a last theory, the reason I don't want to say so is because of your belief in the supernatural, but still take it into consideration. The last theory is that they were once victims of alien abuctions and have gone under intense genetic mutations so they don't age and have the ability to transport themselves to any location on earth. Like I said, this last one is a bit imsane and you may not want to consider it. Either way, I hope any one of these theories help in any way, and good luck. You will need as much as possible.

PS: At the risk of being a total buzzkill, we all know this is a story, right? Like, a cool, scary story on a forum for cool, scary stories? Some of these comments make me wonder...
