when the game launches and says press any key to continue, i click, then a white box with nothing but an x in the top right pops up, i close that, then the game indefinitely loads and never starts. any suggestions or helpful steps to fix this?

MCD-5306 Stuck on a blank (usually white) window after "Press Any Key"
so i went to MCD-5306 and I tried all 3 of the suggested fixes on that post but none of those have worked, i still get a white box to close, then the game never loads. what do i do now that my report has be filed as a duplicate? does that mean its ignored? the thread on the other post is still unresolved...
