[MCD-5862] Complete softlock when loading the game

I looked for a possible solution to my problem but couldn't find one. Upon loading the game I'm presented with a blank text box with my only option being to close it, I can then try to play the game by pressing a button, but the game never loads (I've left the game running like this for over an hour with no result).

The problem is consistent, I've attempted to repair the game multiple times through the launcher but the repair always either fails or seems to do nothing. I haven't reinstalled the game yet since I don't want to lose all of my progress, despite having not played it in at least a few weeks, if there's any way to avoid this it would be appreciated.

The attached video is an attempt to demonstrate the problem; the game loads as normal up until this point, the audio does work but isn't recorded - the narrator says "exit" whenever I hover the cursor over the exit button on the blank box.

Which platform are you playing on? Also have you received any custom set value items from any players?

I'm playing on desktop, I've never received items from other players.
Since the update came out today I updated the game - it only gave me the option to repair the game, but was unsuccessful. I then tried repairing the game from the installation tab in the launcher which also didn't work, followed by trying to uninstall the game, which didn't work, followed by trying to uninstall the game (including local save files), which also didn't work. I'm stuck with not being able to play, repair or uninstall the game at this point.

I'm gonna assume you'll just tell me to delete my files like you have for the XBOX users, however - this doesn't work? I'm not sure if I'm missing some files, but after deleting the directories for the game and then uninstalling it from the launcher, I still can't download the game.
