I was actively playing MCD. Had a momentary power outage that crashed my desktop machine, causing a reboot when power came back up.
Now MCD will not load. The launcher will load, I log in with my account, then click the beta tab and click launch. the MCD screen will come up saying press any key. I click the mouse or press a key and then I see a "redstone block" spinning in the bottom right corner. Eternally.
Looks like the game needs crash recovery and/or cleanup code to detect such a problem???
Tried to uninstall and reinstall. No luck. Tried logging in with someone else's xbox ID, no difference. Tried uninstall including the 2017 C redistributable, and reinstall. still samething. Cannot get the game to run anymore.
I have the same issue
Same issue, installed the game and am stuck at this screen. The Redstone Block keeps rotating and i get occasionally the prompt to "press any key". Nothing happens from this point on. Restarting the game, restarting the computer or reinstalling/repairing the game doesnt fix this issue. No controller is active. I also unplugged the controller receiver. Firewall & Antivirus was also deactivated for a while, testing if this blocks the game. Tried to use the Beta-Version of the launcher, problem still persisting. Only difference is, i get immediatly the "press any button" prompt. But still can't get further.

Similar issue, my laptop could never login, and my game pc refused to save. after leaving my gaming pc on to eat downstairs, the game would never load, trying to reinstall now.
I resolved my own issue here... Numerous uninstalls of the launcher didn't help.. .BUT: when i used the LAUNCHER's built in uninstall of the MCD install, and then reinstalled from there, that seems to have done it. In the launcher, click on the Settings button in the bottom left corner... there I found a Repair button and and Uninstall button. The repair button didn't help.. several tries and it never resolved the issue.. but then i tried the uninstall option on that settings screen, which removed the MCD install without removing the launcher itself... then i used the launcher to reinstall, and that seems to have fixed the issue.
I should note that once it was working, I realized I lost my characters somewhere along the way. I don't know where they are stored, but it is now clear that characters are stored locally on the machine and NOT in my microsoft or xbox account. That's a shame.
