Ross ClarkeIf you have gamepass ultimate you have a game license for both pc and xbox, however you can not play together if the primary person on the account is the Xbox user, my child's account only works on the xbox and not his windows 10 pc. This means we can not play together on network play despite forking over a hefty subscription fee every month.
The only way I can "fix this" is to cancel game pass ultimate, sign him up as an adult (exposing him to things he shouldn't see) and separately sign him up to game pass for PC.
This needs some attention, it's supposed to be a family game but you can't play with your family.
That would seem to be something to complain to MS about.
Can you both play on one PC with an xbox controller or 2 and keyboard?
You can gameshare on xbox, but I doubt they will bring that to PC.
Previously it was impossible to play on Windows 10 at all, the "ownership error" happens in game. That was reported here and acknowledged by Mojang here, and resolved here, there is no other place to report such errors.
Now the ownership error exists if you use any account but the primary, which is not how any other game works. Game Pass ultimate is three products combined, I could de-bundle and he would be allowed to play, but I have to lie about his age because he is not old enough to have an account.
The point is we pay for access on two platforms, this "verifying ownership" thing happens in game, so it's up to Mojang (Owned by Xbox Game Studios) to fix the part of the game that contacts Microsoft and verifies ownership. They have half fixed it so far but it needs to be completely fixed.
No other game on Game Pass has this problem, that includes minecraft, since you are paying for access on two platforms. I don't expect to run 2 simultaneous copies on 1 platform, but 1 copy on each platform that I own (PC and Xbox).
