Structure Block Generation Error

THIS BUG REPORT IS NOW OUTDATED:
The new link is: MCPE-186845
However this still affects dedicated servers along with the rest of Minercraft.

Structure Block Error

This bug occurs when a structure with more structure blocks in it is rotated twice or more without breaking the block generating this multiple structure block structure. Keep in mind the reason for more structure blocks to be present in a structure is often due to storing, moving, or protecting large builds.

Reproduce:
1. Open up a dedicated server on Bedrock Edition or a world.
2. Make a structure with a structure block but put more structure blocks in it, these extra structure blocks will generate the rest of what I will call a Multistructure for now.
3. Rotate the structure block that contains the other structure blocks in it 3 times, first to 90 degrees, then 180, then 270. Make sure that you rotate the structure block each time in a different plane to avoid confusion.

If that doesn’t somehow deform the Multistructure:

1. Try to make one rectangular structure with air around it in the structure’s hitbox. The structure block saving this structure should not be in the hitbox.
2. Add a structure block on your iron 4 block long, 3 block wide rectangle. The rectangle should be facing x positive and the structure block should be somewhere close to the front.
3; Add a lever to trigger it, then since there is air around the structure block, put in the coordinates and the same structure name you used to save the rectangle and make it sort of be able to move forward.
4. Now move it forward for a bit, it should move one block at a time with the lever, if the structure should be 2 blocks tall, and if you count the air that I told you to add around the structure, its hitbox is 5 blocks wide, 6 blocks long.
5. If you did it correctly your structure should move forward each time the lever is clicked, however here is the error, manually rotate the structure block that moves your rectangle from 0 to 90 degrees. It should work somewhat fine, but then rotate it to 270 manually again, and your rectangle will deform.

What should happen when you go from 90 to 270 is that it will work the same as it did when it was facing 0 degrees, but just in a different direction.

This bug can affect more than mentioned here and could extend to Java Edition. So far the best solution would be to take the structure block mechanics from 1.18 or 1.19 and any sub version of either of those and use that to replace the current structure block mechanics.

Note: When using the older mechanics you MIGHT have to edit some other files because stuff like dependencies in code and stuff in other files that structure blocks need to run may have to be edited for that. Also the error might not be fully in structure blocks, but the other files connected to it.

Also if you thought a non redstone moving rectangle was somewhat cool, there are much larger actual ships that shoot moving missiles that remove millions of blocks on impact. That’s another topic.

HOW THE BUG AFFECTS PEOPLE:

People who often construct larger scales of those moving rectangles that look like actual ships and can turn with levers and hidden structure blocks may be disappointed that their builds no longer function as it used to.
People who construct large builds might also be disappointed because their builds break after some rotations, and that would likely be a huge mess to clean up a deformed large build.
Some people heavily use structure blocks and it might annoy them that something is wrong, which is a large case for most of my friends, and I suggested that I'd make a bug report on it.

Environment

i use a bedrock Xbox, but I have tested this on friends' worlds with different devices and stuff.

Linked Issues

Also this issue may seem resolved but it's slightly different than the linked issue. This issue does in fact change coordinates of structure blocks in a structure when thar structure is rotated, HOWEVER, it does not change them correctly and messes up some things. Alos it messes up the rotations itself as well. The actual issue is where the structure blocks in a structure that has been rotated will make any structure loaded by the rotated structure blocks in that structure end up in different places or rotations than expected. This issue is likely a math error, or a miscalculation with the structure blocks, let me know the coding language of minecraft and send me the file, module, or package that is making this issue at 0, do not spam this email.

Email that I copypasted:

This happened on a dedicated server, so the platform doesn't really matter because pc and mobile can join a dedicated server.

This is an error with structure blocks in general so I would say that this affects all worlds, realms, etc.

Also uhh I'm just a regular guy and XBOX screen record is hard to deal with sometimes, so video is under construction

I know this is not related however you can search up "Knexyce" and find this bug report on Google.

Ok I did everything you guys asked for

Done, bug report is done, also it's not the linked issue, structure blocks still rotate but the coordinates are messed up and so are the settings themselves, and possibly the rotation too.

Also ignore the replication section, video does that already.

Hi,
We could not reproduce that issue. Please attach the world where you encountered this problem, if it exceeds the file size limit, you can upload it to a file sharing site (e.g., OneDrive) and link it here.

This issue is being temporarily resolved as Awaiting Response. Once the requested information has been delivered, the report will be reopened automatically.

Just because a report was resolved does not mean that your issue was fixed. Please read the Bug Tracker Guidelines on how to properly use the bug tracker and what different resolutions mean.

[MCQA] v-krbaj has requested that you attach the world where you encountered this problem to this report. If it exceeds the file size limit, you can upload it to a file sharing site (e.g., OneDrive) and link it here.

So I can't exactly do that, due to video size limits, etc, still figuring this out, but I have more detail on the bug

So part of it was fixed, but if you turn a generator of a multi structure block structure block again without placing a new one and only upping the rotation by something like 90 degrees to 180, it still breaks the multiple structure block structure.

I kind of discovered something that heavily depends on structure blocks to work as intended, so this is a highly important bug fix, and also important if you wanna make cool large ships that look like they move and turn with structure blocks

The reason I cant put the world is because I play on a bedrock xbox console and can't exactly download my world like that

simple fix for all of this would be to take structure block mechanics from 1.17 to 1.19, and if you are risking it, 1.20 also works but might not, then take the code from your selected version and use it to replace the current structure system's code, you may have to edit some other files so that stuff like dependencies along with other files/file modifications that the older code would need to work is there

also this has happened on multiple worlds

it has been affecting latest versions so far

idk if it is possible to directly show a dev the error I have but it could help

I created a new bug report that affects all of bedrock edition so how do I delete this one?

I have now closed this bug report. New bug report: MCPE-186845

thanks for fixing it

Me and my friends use structure blocks as a very useful tool. It allows us to basically make the create mod without animations, we have made nukes, planes, trains, animations, and much more with structure blocks by replacing a structure with the same structure in a different direction or place when it comes to our vehicles. I discovered this in 2019

MAJOR ISSUE:

0

The actual issue is whenever we use the turning features on our ships or vehicles, it messes up the ship, sometimes it makes copies of the ships in other areas, or it sometimes doesn't work, moves in the wrong direction and MUCH more.

0

The ability to use structure blocks like this is highly important as since it can eve challenge redstone, the people that I taught my skill to, (using structure blocks like how I do is not normal), would absolutely hate it if this bug continued, This is a major issue because it affects many who enjoy using structure blocks as a replacement for the create mod.

How do I use the Structure Blocks (Not Important, you can skip this, but I recommend reading to fix the issue.)

0

I use structure blocks in multiple ways, and for multiple reasons, it will take a while to explain everything I discovered from random experimentation I did from boredom. Let's focus on how I make planes. I make planes by setting up 6 structure blocks and one teleporter, this teleporter is a impulse command block with the command "/tp @a[c=1] ~+2.5" below the floor, and next to the 6 structure blocks this command block is set to "always active" so that it teleports each time the ship is moved and so you don't fall through floor, roof, or walls. The plane moves by having 6 structure blocks, the first one replaces ship with another ship, the new ship is the exact same, except it was placed one block in front of the old one, there is an air place holder so the parts of the old ship are completely replaced. The ship moves up and down by replacing the ship in 1 block up, one block down directions. There is air all around the ship so all parts are replaced. The ship can turn by having structure blocks destroy and replace this ship in different angles of 180, 90, and 270 degrees. There is also a passenger feature that I am working on.

0

0

If you read all that, here is the structure block issue in better context now that you understand. When the ship is turned to 180, 90, or 270 degrees, at first the ship does turn however if you attempt to move the ship after the turn, most likely chance is that the ship won't be replaced, instead it will be duplicated near or around the main ship, this duplicate does however destroy part of the original ship instead of the whole thing, and it also normally spawns in a diagonal direction to the ship. The ship might just also not move at all.

0

How to fix issue

0

The actual source of the issue is what structure blocks do to other structure blocks in the structure when it's turned. In previous versions of minecraft, it would make it so that my ship does not show the issues above, because it would adapt the coordinates in all the structure blocks on the plane/ship to make it still functional and for it to move accurately.

0

What should happen if the issue is fixed:

0

Note before reading: All of my ships face the X positive coordinate by default.

0

When I turn my ship/plane backwards, then I move it forwards it should go in the X negative direction not not provide any issues mentioned earlier.

So far this effects my bedock edition server however this looks like something that might effect all versions of minecraft.

If you rotate a structure with a structure block in it, that messes up the coordinates in the structure blocks in that structure. For example if you made a massive build and you added multiple structure blocks to load each part as the main loading structure for the build, it would normally load everything in the right direction. Now the issue with this version is that whenever you turn the structure with structure blocks in it, (The structure that loads the parts of the build.), any structure loaded by those structure blocks in the structure will end up in random places instead of turning the structure and adapting the location as it was supposed to in earlier versions.

00

If you read the not so important part you might understand why I need this issue fixed and why some others need it fixed as well.

000

Oh and also a ton of texture errors may appear at loading screens sometimes, these may replace everything on the screen.

0Not Important Part:
0I use structure blocks to make flying machines. I do this by creating a structure block with 6 structure blocks inside of that structure, they are located in the cockpit of the spaceship. to move the ship a player has to click a lever or step on a pressure plate that activates a structure block in the cockpit to move the ship. A command block teleports players when the ship is moved. Alos, off topic: I discovered how to do this and a ton of other cool things with structure blocks by experimentation out of boredom in 2019. Back to topic:

0

How the ship moves...
0The ship moves by the structure blocks replacing the ship with an exact saved copy of the ship in another place or rotation. There is air around the outside of the ship as a placeholder in the ship's hitbox, (structure block's hitbox). This air allows you to move the ship without leaving behind parts of the ship when the ship is moved. There is much more I know about structure blocks, such as making a long range and fast missile that can delete a 64 by 64 block area and delete over 200 blocks tall. The missile works slightly differently, but that's another topic.

0

How the error messes with the ships...

0

Whenever you turn the ship, in previous versions the coordinates in the structure blocks located in the cockpit would adapt as needed so the ship still moved correctly.

0

Note: All my ships are normally facing in the X positive direction.

0

When you turn the ship this is what is supposed to happen: If you turn right then you click forward, it should move the ship in the Z positive coordinate. (It did this in previous versions.)

0

Here is what happens now: If you turn in any direction and move up, down, left, right, forward, or backward then in most cases the ship will make a copy of itself that does not replace the original ship in a new intended direction or location, instead it will spawn in that direction elsewhere, and move elsewhere, sometimes it doesn't even rotate correctly. However some directions like up or down, and I don't know entirely but MAYBE forwards may still work in certain cases.

0Also I'm 11 and I have friends that I taught the structure block thing to, and I want them to not have to deal with this error.

To summarize the problem, when there is/are structure block(s) inside of another structure itself, it may cause some errors that are not intended or expected.0I decided to confirm the bug myself by testing certain structure block features.

0

0

The errors normally start when you rotate a structure that has structure blocks in it. When that structure is rotated, any coordinates, rotations or settings in the structure blocks within that structure may be messed up, this means if you load that structure block inside the rotated structure: It will make the structure load in an unexpected area or direction or more.

0

0

This is not the same as the linked issue.

0

0

The issue is major because this means that if anyone has a large build in minecraft and needs multiple structure blocks to load it, it may ruin their build if they turn it. There are also other reasons as well.

0

0

The actual issue might be a calculation error in a C++ module, another code file, a file, or a package, I do not know. My best guess is something is messed up with the variable that caused this error, it could be a function, module, or something else too.

0

0

Please get this checked out, good chance is, if it's any of those things, those modules or functions might be used to calculate other things, and if that's true then the issue could expand.

0

0

Also instead of blindly believing what I found: I decided to test the error myself, I created a small 4 by 7 iron block rectangle, 2 blocks tall, then on top of it, I added structure blocks that would rotate the iron rectangle by 180 degrees, 90, and 270 degrees, also a structure block to move the rectangle forward, the actual hitbox of the iron rectangle is 6 by 9, and still 2 blocks tall, this is so the rectangle can be rotated and moved forward without duplicating parts of it infinitely. Also the hitbox can be 4 blocks tall if you want an up and down feature. These six structure blocks were triggered by levers next to them and spread out on the rectangle, and a command block was added to teleport me each time it moved or turned.0Not Important Part:0I use structure blocks to make flying machines. Now that the rectangle/test is built, I turned the rectangle to 180 degrees then clicked tat 180 degrees lever again, and now here is where the issue is proved: a copy of the rectangle spawned behind the original one's hitbox, or close to it. The original rectangle is the one I turned. Also when you move the turned rectangle forward it makes a duplicate facing the same direction as the turned rectangle, but this duplicate destroys part of it. There are more errors that happen with different rotations and such.0The ship moves by the structure blocks replacing the ship with an exact saved copy of the ship in another place or rotation.

That's your evidence, follow the steps yourself and do it if you don't believe me, also I may have just invented the world's first non-redstone flying machine that you can infinitely dupe without /clone, so please give me credit if you make a cooler version of this. my username is Knexyce. Also if you combine structure blocks and command blocks with a little bit of skill, you can actually make a non redstone, no tnt, non /fil, no /clone missile that can fly and explode on impact deleting a 64 by 64 area of blocks by replacing it with air and the replace height can be decided by you. There is a way to make it more than 64 blocks.

To summarize the problem, when there is/are structure block(s) inside of another structure itself, it may cause some errors that are not intended or expected.

This is not the same as the linked issue.

The issue is major because this means that if anyone has a large build in minecraft and needs multiple structure blocks to load it, it may ruin their build if they turn it. There are also other reasons as well.

The actual issue might be a calculation error in a C++ module, another code file, a file, or a package, I do not know. My best guess is something is messed up with the variable that caused this error, it could be a function, module, or something else too.

Please get this checked out, good chance is, if it's any of those things, those modules or functions might be used to calculate other things, and if that's true then the issue could expand.

These six structure blocks were triggered by levers next to them and spread out on the rectangle, and a command block was added to teleport me each time it moved or turned.

There are more errors that happen with different rotations and such.

DAMAGE: This error caused a lot damage because it can effect large builds that require multiple structure blocks to fully load. If these large builds need to be rotated: It can cause an issue. An example of a large build would be a town, city, plane, spaceship, mega base, a mega sky base, or a large spaceship that you want to turn to make it look like it can fly.

0

WHAT SHOULD be DONE: Fix the generation issue and check for errors like this or check if this is one error connected other or larger one(s). Also make sure that you extensively check for any other way an error like this could happen, for example with the /structure command in command blocks, check if the same rror happens there. Find and fix the source of the error and any connecting errors as well.

0(You don't have to do this, there is a linked video later in the bug report, you can also skip this section to read the other parts. The video already does all this and the process is only laid out in detail to avoid confusion.)

0

HOW to PRODUCE the ERROR:

0

(BUILDING TEST DEVICE)
0Create a spruce and oak rectangle that has 4 blocks facing X positive, 3 blocks facing Z positive., then fill in the rectangle with some spruce, some oak. Now place structure blocks on all corners except the bottom right, the rectangle is facing X positive. Then place observers next to each structure block, the observers should be powering the structure block, and behind them should be air.

0

Now that that's done, save the structure as "t", the structure size should be: X=4,Y=2,Z=3, now save the same structure without structure blocks as "t1", the size for this one would be X=4,Y=1,Z=3

0

Note: The rectangle in general should be built facing X positive.
0Okay good, now that saving the structures are done, we can move onto the numbers. Go to the top left structure block, input the structure name as "t", set the structure block as "Load", then for the offset: Do X=1,Y=-1,Z=0, for the top right structure block: Put the structure name as "t", set the structure block to "Load" then add these numbers as the offset: X=1,Y=-1,Z=1, for the bottom right structure block, put the name and setting the same as mentioned before, name as "t", setting to "load". Now set the offset to: X=0,Y=-1,Z=1.

0

If this works, then it should load 3 rectangles to the diagonal right of the main structure, the rectangles should touch the main structure but it should not replace any part of it, and it should just make a bigger rectangle.

0

(TESTING TIME):

0

To test the error, find an empty space and spawn in the "t" structure facing 0 degrees. It should generate how it was mentioned earlier. If not I may have explained something incorrectly, you didn't read, or you didn't do it correctly. It should look similar to what happens to the top structure in the video.

0

If you turn it in any other direction, it will deform in some way or end up in an unexpected or unwanted location. It's supposed to adapt the coordinates inside the rotated structure blocks to generate the other 3 rectangles in a location and way that looks the exact same as was generated in 0 degrees, the only difference should be is the direction of the generation, it should still look the same, only in a different direction.

0

0

WHAT SHOULD be DONE: Fix the generation issue and check for errors like this or check if this is one error connected other or larger one(s).

Also make sure that you extensively check for any other way an error like this could happen, for example with the /structure command in command blocks, check if the same rror happens there. Find and fix the source of the error and any connecting errors as well.

0In general this applies to any large multi structure build that needs to be rotated. So the part or parts of the build that generate other parts of the build will likely make the build very deformed. This means that a lot of people who spent hard work on their build will see it ruined and blame Mojang, because if the coordinates are correct at 0 degrees, they are correct, period.

Also make sure that you extensively check for any other way an error like this could happen, for example with the /structure command in command blocks, check if the same rror happens there. Find and fix the source of the error and any connecting errors as well.

DAMAGE: You don't have to read this section, the point is, it could ruin a lot of hard work and cause tons of damage.

0

This error caused a lot damage because it can affect large builds that require multiple structure blocks to fully load. If these large builds need to be rotated: It can cause an issue. An example of a large build would be a town, city, plane, spaceship, mega base, a mega sky base, or a large spaceship that you want to turn to make it look like it can fly.
0Specific Example:
0Lets say we build something like a Roman Colosseum. We can make 1 fourth of the build and have 3 structure blocks in that fourth of the build. They will generate 3 other fourths in different mirrored axis, those fourths will not contain structure blocks. So if this is done correctly you can make a chunk of the build that will complete itself, this is because the Colosseum is like a circle kind of.
0So if we delete our Colosseum to rotate it, that means the new generated fourths will be deformed. This ruins the Colosseum.

Structure Block Error

0

This bug occurs when a structure with more structure blocks in it is rotated twice or more without breaking the block generating this multiple structure block structure. Keep in mind the reason for more structure blocks to be present in a structure is often due to storing, moving, or protecting large builds.

0

Reproduce:
01. Open up a dedicated server on Bedrock Edition or a world.
02. Make a structure with a structure block but put more structure blocks in it, these extra structure blocks will generate the rest of what I will call a Multistructure for now.
03. Rotate the structure block that contains the other structure blocks in it 3 times, first to 90 degrees, then 180, then 270. Make sure that you rotate the structure block each time in a different plane to avoid confusion.0In general this applies to any large multi structure build that needs to be rotated. So the part or parts of the build that generate other parts of the build will likely make the build very deformed. This means that a lot of people who spent hard work on their build will see it ruined and blame Mojang, because if the coordinates are correct at 0 degrees, they are correct, period.

0

If that doesn’t somehow deform the Multistructure:

0

1. Try to make one rectangular structure with air around it in the structure’s hitbox. The structure block saving this structure should not be in the hitbox.
02. Add a structure block on your iron 4 block long, 3 block wide rectangle. The rectangle should be facing x positive and the structure block should be somewhere close to the front.
03; Add a lever to trigger it, then since there is air around the structure block, put in the coordinates and the same structure name you used to save the rectangle and make it sort of be able to move forward.
04. Now move it forward for a bit, it should move one block at a time with the lever, if the structure should be 2 blocks tall, and if you count the air that I told you to add around the structure, its hitbox is 5 blocks wide, 6 blocks long.
05. If you did it correctly your structure should move forward each time the lever is clicked, however here is the error, manually rotate the structure block that moves your rectangle from 0 to 90 degrees. It should work somewhat fine, but then rotate it to 270 manually again, and your rectangle will deform.

0

What should happen when you go from 90 to 270 is that it will work the same as it did when it was facing 0 degrees, but just in a different direction.

0

This bug can affect more than mentioned here and could extend to Java Edition. So far the best solution would be to take the structure block mechanics from 1.18 or 1.19 and any sub version of either of those and use that to replace the current structure block mechanics.

0

Note: When using the older mechanics you MIGHT have to edit some other files because stuff like dependencies in code and stuff in other files that structure blocks need to run may have to be edited for that. Also the error might not be fully in structure blocks, but the other files connected to it.

0

Also if you thought a non redstone moving rectangle was somewhat cool, there are much larger actual ships that shoot moving missiles that remove millions of blocks on impact. That’s another topic.

0

HOW THE BUG AFFECTS PEOPLE:

0

People who often construct larger scales of those moving rectangles that look like actual ships and can turn with levers and hidden structure blocks may be disappointed that their builds no longer function as it used to.0Create a spruce and oak rectangle that has 4 blocks facing X positive, 3 blocks facing Z positive., then fill in the rectangle with some spruce, some oak. Now place structure blocks on all corners except the bottom right, the rectangle is facing X positive. Then place observers next to each structure block, the observers should be powering the structure block, and behind them should be air.
0People who construct large builds might also be disappointed because their builds break after some rotations, and that would likely be a huge mess to clean up a deformed large build.
0Some people heavily use structure blocks and it might annoy them that something is wrong, which is a large case for most of my friends, and I suggested that I'd make a bug report on it.

People who often construct larger scales of those moving rectangles that look like actual ships and can turn with levers and hidden structure blocks may be disappointed that their builds no longer function as it used to.
