I watched this video, it was incredibly interesting, since all of these "single A press run" or in this case "1.5 A presses" are really interesting to me. Then like, however much longer the video was, I realized I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing with my life and I just watched someone explain a trick to a game older than I am.

He didn't play it for that long, that's just how long in game time it took. He used tools to allow frame-perfect inputs as well as to allow speeding up and the ability to go frame by frame.
