I can't find a text version of it but there is a short story on the podcast "The Story Must Be Told" (episode title: God, Friendship, and Love) that is very similar. It's the first story in that episode. A group of people are waiting to meet god and they go through a curtain one after another. Once behind the curtain the protagonist finds out that they are being slaughtered like livestock and eaten by god. I might not have it exactly right because I haven't listened to it in a long time, but it's close.

Edit: The story within that episode is titled "Goats and Sheep"

This one is the right concept, but the narrators are a couple of the angels, not any of the humans being devoured.

On a website-itself level, not that much (That Insidious Beast is a few years old now) but certain segments of the forum are still very much active - it's still the biggest source of high-quality Let's Play content, for example (though I think lp.zone is getting there) since the emphasis is on "people knowing the game well, showing it (for good or for ill) to an audience", as opposed to "look at me on facecam scream and fumble through a game".

I remember reading something similar, it was a short story that reddit was in love with a couple of years ago. I think it was called "The button" or "The blob" but a quick google search makes it seem like neither of those correspond. The plot of this story was about a group of people who were trapped in some sort of hole with a god-like creature watching over them (This was probably some kind of machine) and this creature ate them little by little.>! By the end, the narrator has been reduced to some sort of blob, hence the name.!<

Could this be the same story? Also, if anyone knows the name of this other story, please share because i am going crazy

This sounds really similar to I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, except the computer wasn't eating them, just torturing them with its godlike powers.

This reminds me of a Kindle Unlimited book I read called The God Killers (https://www.amazon.com/God-Killers-David-Simpson-ebook/dp/B006CB1O74?_encoding=UTF8) with the premise of "God is an evil deity who eats souls". It's a whole book not a two page story but the premise is similar.

this sounds vaguely familiar. and since you can't find it in the format you were thinking of (a short story) maybe your mixing it up with something else. perhaps it was a plot to a tv show?

It's not what you're looking for but if you enjoy this kind of thing give The Descent by jeff long a try. Has a lot of those themes and until I saw you were referencing a short story I was sure this is what you were looking for. One of the few books to genuinely give me chills.

Oh and it has nothing to do with the shitty movie of the same name, so don't be put off by that.

Have you seen The Descent? The sequel is a shitty cash grab, but the first is a well made horror movie, definitely not a shitty movie.

Yeah I've seen it. I actually own it. I'll concede it's not shitty and I don't hate it, but my perception was definitely colored by my disappointment that it wasn't based on the book. To me it seemed like an obvious rip off, having the same name as the book, with cavers and a female protagonist and hadal monsters.

I read it when I was 22 and it re-instilled my fear of the dark for about a month after reading it. It's damn good.

Yes definitely! Read the first chapter (or maybe the prologue, I don't recall) to get a taste of the horror. It's definitely a horror book but it's surprisingly intelligent and has a lot of philosophy embedded in it, and the world building and complexity is impressive. If you're not into that though don't worry, the book can be enjoyed without digging into that stuff. I went into it thinking it was just another dean Koontz style book but it's way better than that imo.

The sequel "deeper" is way more philosophical and less scary, but I enjoyed it. I think there's another after that but I haven't read it yet. The author is an experienced mountaineer and it really shows in the books.

Edit: out of curiosity, what are the other books you got? I'm always looking for suggestions, and I may have others to suggest to you based on what you like.

I've fairly recently read The Terror by Dan Simmons and loved it. Currently reading My Best Friend's Exorcism, and that's pretty good!

I also have Kill Creek by Scott Thomas, The Troop by Nick Cutter and Ghost Road Blues by Konathan Maberry, but I haven't gotten to those yet! Also on my list is Bird Box, which I've heard is amazing.

This sounds totally like an episode of Doctor Who, where some people were trapped inside an hotel (kinda like the minotaur's labyrinth). When the minotaur attacked someone, they began to wish his arrival, hoping to be purified or something like that (maybe that's what you say about being eaten by angels).
