Sometimes you can't avoid it. My best friend became a hyper progressive over the past couple years, it was so sad to watch him go down that path. We used to joke about things and have fun all the time, but over time he became more focused on finding things to be offended by. Eventually the friendship became toxic because he was in a constant state of offense at everything I did or said, and would go on about my supposed "white privilege" and other BS like that. Eventually I got tired of being made to feel like the bad guy all the time, especially because I'm pretty inoffensive and anti-confrontational.
We've stopped talking, but I miss the pre-indoctrination friend I had.
I think people do not change. My best friend was devout catholic, but he was in pretty liberal school, with both of his parents being atheists. Now he is liberal too, but we still are friends. He didn't change his personality, but based on his experiences and information he got (some of that information was wrong) he has different views on things and that is fine; i still like who he is and we can have nice convos, just we disagree about almost everything in terms of politics and social issues (like drugs). But we can lets say play games or agree on things not related to politics. I feel he got wrong info but he still is good guy, he also was offended on some things i told, but in the end we are friends, and we shouldnt let our views on things we got along with time destroy our friendship (of 15 years now, me being 20)
on the other hand he isn't some chapocel, still hes very progressive as of now

Keep in mind that it's very common to start losing friends at that age.. When I was in my early 20s, a shitload of people vanished, or fell out with eachother one by one, etc. You can make new friends. Pick up as many hobbies as you can be arsed with and you'll do fine.
People are more complex than just their political opinion, something everybody forgets on this website. "you should breakup because of X and Y", "sounds like X is a shitty person" is way too common in my opinion. It's easy to paint in white and black when you only have two lines of text depicting someone, but in reality more or less everybody put up with a lot of shit
I don't think anyone is saying A should break the friendship with B solely because of B's new political opinions. The problem is that with B's new political opinions becoming their entire personality, all they speak of, and worse, actively shaming and denigrating A with their new opinions, A is no longer enjoying the company of B, and therefore A may get more good out of breaking the friendship rather than continuing it.
B is perfectly entitled to their opinion, but they are not entitled to shame and denigrate A while expecting to keep a relationship with A as it was prior to the shaming and denigration.

It's more about how so-called feminists who prattle on about women's rights and smashing the patriarchy only in fact care about what's happening to women in their own country, and most of the time the examples of so-called misogyny they kick and scream about are the most petty and trivial things that have no bearing on the lives of most women.
Meanwhile in other countries women are being killed for their gender and these so-called feminists never speak up on this issues, or ignore them when they have these issues pointed out to them.
It's not whataboutism at all. These people will tell anyone who listens that they're all for women's rights, but turn a blind eye to some of the most horrific crimes towards women.

There is still plenty of sexual harasment women face in the first world, just look at the Me Too movement how many women it empowered to speak out, who were in silence before. And it's easy to find one tweet which was written by a crazy feminist, and say all feminists are like that. Also they do speak up on the issues in other countries, I don't know where got that they don't.

The problem is that feminists speaking on issues in first world countries donโt realize that the issues they speak on have only one cure-time. Thereโs no pill everyone can swallow to make society more equal than it is because of all the laws on the books that say so. By trying to force people to change their attitudes about gender or race in such a condescending and ineffective matter, they only serve to hinder what they purportedly fight for. Their brand of active social change is better suited to places where laws can be changed and revolutions can be had, but how are you going to have a revolution about air conditioning being too cold or fewer women being at the Oscars?

In the most free, most equal opportunity countries, the Nordic ones, you see men and women aligning around sterotypical gender norms: men still dominate STEM fields, and women still dominate social fields like nursing.
Feminists deny that there are innate differences between men and women that compel them to chose whatever choices they make in life. They claim society has "internalized misogyny" or women are "socially discouraged" from pursuing whatever outcome women chose. There is no measurable data to prove or disprove those claims. This recent invisible boogeyman is everywhere and unseen.
This is how they continue to grab power.
