Exactly my thoughts. My abs are hidden. Barely, but still. Can't call myself skinny because of that. I've had people tell me I look great but that's mostly because I used to be pretty damn thin. I actually forced myself to eat more than I wanted to fill out and build some mass to do my job better.

The ad I saw was saying that it's not good enough for men to be good, and that they have to step up and call out harassment and abuse when they see it. That seems like it would actually apply to all men.
The problem with the ad is that it commits a motte and bailey fallacy, offering an unoffensive position (Masculinity is an aspirational force for good and we can all be better) while concealing a misandrist position (Masculinity is toxic and men are to blame).

I donโt think youโre using that fallacy properly. It refers to advocating a weak position while defending a strong position which is similar. The ad doesnโt defend any position, and simply puts forward that men are strong enough to fight toxic masculinity, and that they should. Menโs rights advocates should like it, because it literally says that there are a lot of good men out there, indeed that is the core premise of the ad. That good men should call out toxic attitudes and behaviors when they see them. To me, it doesnโt appear to place blame on anyone but the people behaving badly, and it makes it clear that the author doesnโt believe that all men are bad.
