I had an ex who did this to me. I broke up with him and he was obsessive: would not leave me alone, drove over to my house to have a meltdown because I broke up with him, would frantically drive to people's houses to use their phones because I had blocked his number. The whole, entire 9.
He had a really severe gastrointestinal disease and so, one day, after many, many months of not speaking or seeing him, he finds a way to get ahold of me and tells me he has terminal colon cancer and has a year to live. Now, this does if sound too far-fetched because he has had pre-cancerous cells before so I believe it at the time and, of course, I feel terrible for him and very sad. Fast forward five years, he is alive and is completely fine. I find out he made up the entire thing just to try and manipulate me into coming back.
Long story short, I have zero sympathy for people who fake serious health problems to try and back you into a corner and manipulate you into saying you care. It's disturbing behavior and so this is not "sad-cringe" to me; it's infuriating, it's gross, it's not normal.

It's not normal and it is horrible. The sad part is that it probably stems from something else from their past. It's possible to condemn someone's actions and still pity them for being in the position where they'd take those actions. Maybe they're being manipulative assholes for the sake of it or maybe they have some serious issues that makes them think being a manipulative asshole is the only choice they have.
I don't understand what was going on in that whole conversation. I assume from your reaction the whole thing was a scam on his part. I'm old sometimes when people post things from conversations I have no idea where one starts and another ends.
People had way too high expectations for it, and it didn't live up to the hype. I got it on release and loved it-- for a week. After that it was just repetitive farming for materials.

Never played it but from what I was able to pick up from others it was just not the game that was promised.
It wasn't atrocious or anything, just very disappointing. It was missing a lot of features we were promised. At least they're working on updates so that's good I guess.

Slapping the skull open takes several hits and getting the spoon to glitch correctly is a little iffy, but usually faster than doing all the cuts. Takes ten to twenty seconds total.

He's trying to show her he's got healing powers without being too direct about it. Never know when the government's listening and it was the botched experiment they performed on him that made him this way. There is always a downside to these powers and his is an uncontrollable urge to toss himself into traffic.
Only after his super-hot mum offered to do me and I turned her down cos I'm a model and I hate women who know they're hot. And then everyone stopped their cars in a screeching mass halt, got out and started clapping and cheering. She walked away, shivering slightly.

A guy literally did this to me the other day. Hadn't texted him back in like 5 hours and i get sorry I'm just getting out of the hospital. Ask him what happened and he starts telling me someone t boned him at a red light and he had to get life fighted cuz he was unresponsive.... But he's okay now....! I'm like you were life fighted yet you're already out in 4 hours. Damn, Usually as an er walk in I'm not even out in 5 hours.

I mean it happened to me in 07 I was at basic training for the army and I got back to find out my mom messaged EVERY (75-100ish) girl on my facebook thru my phone which I left at home to let them know I was going off to war and putting my life in danger... It was basic training not a deployment that comes a little bit later... It was super cringy I couldn't bring myself to use messenger for awhile.
My gf at the time loved that... she heard it from the other girls. Got mad at me for not telling her I'm deployed and why am I telling every girl I know... even though I was not. She was basically mad at me until I actually spoke with her which was quite awhile. Like a month and a half. I know nowadays you get to use your cell phone at basic training but not then. So when I had spoke with her all the pent up rage she built was very confusing. I didn't figure out what had happened completely until I got back total time 4.5 months.
Yo did you ever happen to think your mom might have problems bro. That's not normal on any circumstance. To do it DOZENS of people sounds kinda dangerous and scary.

Why did you even let your mom have your phone in the first place? I remember taking my shit with me but didn't see it for the whole time I was there. Kept that shit locked from us.
I mean I put it away before I left because I didn't put want to pay the monthly bill. Which I didn't. She used the Wi-Fi to get on the app. It was a non active phone why would I suspect she'd go thru my things and send messages out? I was gonna be gone for 4 close to 5 months. Aside from the obvious issues your mother has, which every other comment has pointed out, I'm surprised your girlfriend was still your girlfriend after you ghosted her for a month and a half. Basic training aside, I don't really know many people who would still consider themselves to be in a relationship if they were ghosted for a month and a half.

For some reason this reminds me of the "Can I Have Your Number" skit from Mad TV.
It all makes sense now. While flossing he ran out of floss, and thus ran across the road to the hospital to get some more. He was in such a rush because he was going to be late for a lecture that he ran in front of a car causing it to stop abruptly. He then remembers OP and calls back to his mum to message the girl on Facebook he was talking to to let her know what had happened, as he is such a nice guy and doesn't want her to be left hanging. He did all this while still flossing, and apparently running across the road and yelling while flossing is hard, and he ended up cutting his mouth.
So his mum explains the situation to OP, and then gets frustrated at her apparent apathy about her son's education and how it might be affected by him being late today. Fortunately Josh returns with some new hospital-grade floss and takes back over the chatting.

Ugh, this reminds me of how when my ex and I were freshly broken up (about a week I think) and his mom called me saying that he was in the hospital and the doctors didn't think he was going to make it through the night. I went rushing over since while we couldn't be together, I still cared for him. I caused a lot of trouble with my mom to get a ride over there since she was sick, but she was the only one who could drive me. In the end he was fine, his mom did that since he was in the hospital for surgery due to an ulcer and "I just wanted to show him that you still cared." Man I hated that woman, I couldn't get mad at the ex, he was pissed at his mom for pulling that shit but man that was a shitty day.

I'm doing way better now, fortunately. This was 9 years ago (I was a teenager), we were together for like two months and I broke up with him cause he was too clingy. I haven't seen him or talked to him since, but he used to message me on facebook (using an alternate account, since I blocked his) from time to time, saying stuff like I was the reason he could smile everyday and thanking me for being me (even doing the whole "Hi, this is Weirdo's sister..." shit sometimes). He stopped two years ago. One of our mutual friends from highschool told me recently he's been sending the same kind of messages to her.
I'll tell my friend to do so (I don't remember his facebook name), but she didn't even want to block him in the first place, cause she feels sorry for him or something :/ also, stalking isn't illegal in my country so there isn't much we can do so far.
Mexico. It's illegal only if it occurs in a work/school environment and/or if there's physical agression and stuff like that. You also have to provide a shit ton of proof that your well being is at risk and, if the person is found guilty, they'll be sentenced to 6 months minimum, 2 years max, in prison. It varies slightly from state to state but this is pretty much how it works here.
Fortunately he's never done anything worse than sending his weird-ass messages once a year or so. A former coworker of mine tried to take legal action when an ex boyfriend started to stalk her, randomly showing up at work, her house and other places, but was just told he "probably didn't really mean any harm" because he hadn't physically hurt her (emotional abuse isn't taken into account in these situations) and was adviced to "try to talk to him and get to an agreement" cause "clearly all he wanted was to talk to her". She was also recommended to go to therapy "if the situation was causing her stress". (The dude died of a stroke a few months later, so she's fine now).
Hell, it's barely illegal in the US. The first anti-stalking law wasn't even passed until 1990 (California's response to a spree of Hollywood celebrity stalkings).
The big problem is that most of the things stalkers do - texting, looking up your street address, sending you flowers, driving through your neighborhood, just happening to show up at the mall food court when you're there, etc. - are perfectly legal in and of themselves. The victim has to prove they meet the legal bar of harassment.

My girlfriend had a guy who is 15 years older than her try to pull this kind of shit. He is in a coma in the hospital." And the message was long but just detailing about how he believes his brother is strong and will pull thru. Think I only responded something like "Oh? Sorry to hear that. Hope he'll be OK" because honestly I don't even know the guy and don't really care. I understand maybe the bro is just mass messaging all his friends in the contact list. Then the 'brother' replied "want to see the picture?" i said no thanks but he sent me anyway! That's where I knew he's in no coma and guy is just fishing for attention and sympathy. The picture shows the guy in a hospital bed but with a cast on his legs and he's awake. Doesn't look serious at all. I don't understand why people do this shit. I wanted to call him out in it but didn't want drama.

Most messages are really mundane though - like I'm probably not going to respond to or take note of the 5th person who messages me 'hey, what's up?', but they also probably aren't completely socially inept.
Classic, though poorly played, manipulation tactic. Had a friend do this. She was mad she wasn't getting enough attention in our friend group after my father died, or because I didn't have enough time to chat idk, so she texted us saying she was her sister and that she'd died. Then she got online later that night claiming she really had died, her heart stopped, but she was ok and the hospital released her because they were really busy. Needless to say, we stopped being friends after that.
Nope. I was a cringe factory. In seventh grade I wrote like, 4 anonymous notes to my crush and signed them 'Number 13 Black Rose'. Then I told him about two weeks later that it was me like it wasn't obvious.

This is 100% not "sad". It's fucked up.
I had an ex who did this to me. I broke up with him and he was obsessive: would not leave me alone, drove over to my house to have a meltdown because I broke up with him, would frantically drive to people's houses to use their phones because I had blocked his number. The whole, entire 9.
He had a really severe gastrointestinal disease and so, one day, after many, many months of not speaking or seeing him, he finds a way to get ahold of me and tells me he has terminal colon cancer and has a year to live. Now, this does if sound too far-fetched because he has had pre-cancerous cells before so I believe it at the time and, of course, I feel terrible for him and very sad. Fast forward five years, he is alive and is completely fine. I find out he made up the entire thing just to try and manipulate me into coming back.
Long story short, I have zero sympathy for people who fake serious health problems to try and back you into a corner and manipulate you into saying you care. It's disturbing behavior and so this is not "sad-cringe" to me; it's infuriating, it's gross, it's not normal.

It's not normal and it is horrible. The sad part is that it probably stems from something else from their past. It's possible to condemn someone's actions and still pity them for being in the position where they'd take those actions. Maybe they're being manipulative assholes for the sake of it or maybe they have some serious issues that makes them think being a manipulative asshole is the only choice they have.

Slapping the skull open takes several hits and getting the spoon to glitch correctly is a little iffy, but usually faster than doing all the cuts. Takes ten to twenty seconds total.

I mean it happened to me in 07 I was at basic training for the army and I got back to find out my mom messaged EVERY (75-100ish) girl on my facebook thru my phone which I left at home to let them know I was going off to war and putting my life in danger... It was basic training not a deployment that comes a little bit later... It was super cringy I couldn't bring myself to use messenger for awhile.
My gf at the time loved that... she heard it from the other girls. Got mad at me for not telling her I'm deployed and why am I telling every girl I know... even though I was not. She was basically mad at me until I actually spoke with her which was quite awhile. Like a month and a half. I know nowadays you get to use your cell phone at basic training but not then. So when I had spoke with her all the pent up rage she built was very confusing. I didn't figure out what had happened completely until I got back total time 4.5 months.

She used the Wi-Fi to get on the app. It was a non active phone why would I suspect she'd go thru my things and send messages out? I was gonna be gone for 4 close to 5 months. With no cell phones allowed. I wasn't about to keep that thing in the army's possession to figure out they lost it. I had a handle on how the gov't works before I left. The less you put in their hands the less they can lose or misplace.

It all makes sense now. While flossing he ran out of floss, and thus ran across the road to the hospital to get some more. He was in such a rush because he was going to be late for a lecture that he ran in front of a car causing it to stop abruptly. He then remembers OP and calls back to his mum to message the girl on Facebook he was talking to to let her know what had happened, as he is such a nice guy and doesn't want her to be left hanging. He did all this while still flossing, and apparently running across the road and yelling while flossing is hard, and he ended up cutting his mouth.
So his mum explains the situation to OP, and then gets frustrated at her apparent apathy about her son's education and how it might be affected by him being late today. Fortunately Josh returns with some new hospital-grade floss and takes back over the chatting.

Ugh, this reminds me of how when my ex and I were freshly broken up (about a week I think) and his mom called me saying that he was in the hospital and the doctors didn't think he was going to make it through the night. I went rushing over since while we couldn't be together, I still cared for him. I caused a lot of trouble with my mom to get a ride over there since she was sick, but she was the only one who could drive me. In the end he was fine, his mom did that since he was in the hospital for surgery due to an ulcer and "I just wanted to show him that you still cared." Man I hated that woman, I couldn't get mad at the ex, he was pissed at his mom for pulling that shit but man that was a shitty day.

Mexico. It's illegal only if it occurs in a work/school environment and/or if there's physical agression and stuff like that. You also have to provide a shit ton of proof that your well being is at risk and, if the person is found guilty, they'll be sentenced to 6 months minimum, 2 years max, in prison. It varies slightly from state to state but this is pretty much how it works here.

Fortunately he's never done anything worse than sending his weird-ass messages once a year or so. A former coworker of mine tried to take legal action when an ex boyfriend started to stalk her, randomly showing up at work, her house and other places, but was just told he "probably didn't really mean any harm" because he hadn't physically hurt her (emotional abuse isn't taken into account in these situations) and was adviced to "try to talk to him and get to an agreement" cause "clearly all he wanted was to talk to her". She was also recommended to go to therapy "if the situation was causing her stress". (The dude died of a stroke a few months later, so she's fine now).

Hell, it's barely illegal in the US. The first anti-stalking law wasn't even passed until 1990 (California's response to a spree of Hollywood celebrity stalkings).
The big problem is that most of the things stalkers do - texting, looking up your street address, sending you flowers, driving through your neighborhood, just happening to show up at the mall food court when you're there, etc. - are perfectly legal in and of themselves. The victim has to prove they meet the legal bar of harassment.

Then the 'brother' replied "want to see the picture?" i said no thanks but he sent me anyway! That's where I knew he's in no coma and guy is just fishing for attention and sympathy. Classic, though poorly played, manipulation tactic. Had a friend do this. She was mad she wasn't getting enough attention in our friend group after my father died, or because I didn't have enough time to chat idk, so she texted us saying she was her sister and that she'd died. Then she got online later that night claiming she really had died, her heart stopped, but she was ok and the hospital released her because they were really busy. Needless to say, we stopped being friends after that.

Sorry to hear that. Hope he'll be OK" because honestly I don't even know the guy and don't really care. I understand maybe the bro is just mass messaging all his friends in the contact list. Then the 'brother' replied "want to see the picture?" i said no thanks but he sent me anyway! That's where I knew he's in no coma and guy is just fishing for attention and sympathy. The picture shows the guy in a hospital bed but with a cast on his legs and he's awake. Doesn't look serious at all. I don't understand why people do this shit. I wanted to call him out in it but didn't want drama.
