If I remember right, despite this video he did actually get some form of success. It became popular among the elderly. I mean, it's not the greatest result but at least he wasn't a total failure.

Now he has a steady income and has made a living, but this video will remain hilarious and heartbreaking still.

that's some great news I really hope he is happy with it now

[deleted] ยท 16 points ยท Posted at 21:18:26 on January 7, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Just checked the current news. Its a success for the older community so I assume so. Even till this day its a growing sport for the elderly.

HiNevermind ยท 18 points ยท Posted at 04:24:14 on January 10, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

So happy to hear that. It's not the type of game I'd buy, but I'd be all over that shit if I ran into it at a friend's house or something.

Oh that's actually really awesome! I'm sure this made him happy. God, his dedication... OPs video was heartbreaking, worst thing I've seen on here (so far).

callmesnake13 ยท 71 points ยท Posted at 13:46:33 on November 20, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Yeah iirc some Christian group at a local college took up the cause by pretending to like Bulletball, and then one of them brought it to senior citizens.

RubberDong ยท 30 points ยท Posted at 03:22:03 on January 5, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*

but reality tv is fake. it is presented this way.

apart from it being edited as fuck, they are guiding him with their questions. like that hillbilly rapper.

"where are you from, how did you get here?"

"i sold my car for a ticket" what kind of question is this?

"what have you put into this game over these years? where are you know?"

how are these questions even connected unless they are guiding him with their bullshit?

also its just a table with a ping pong ball. he did not invest his life in that thing. he is full of shit.

i can make you a bullet ball tomorrow. i will even make a hole for your dick in it. cause if there is one thing better than bullet ball...this is fuckable bullet ball .

you can play it and go back to that day you spent with your ex wife, the day you in vented bullet ball and you were happy, and she looked at you, and she kissed you...

callmesnake13 ยท 17 points ยท Posted at 05:33:51 on January 5, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Except that the whole story is documented online

RubberDong ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 08:42:15 on January 5, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*

Oh all right then. If its online... I ll pass.

callmesnake13 ยท 33 points ยท Posted at 19:22:35 on January 5, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Yes. Online because it was covered by local news. This is probably a waste of time, and I know you feel like you're on a roll right now, but there are several categories of reality shows. All are "fake" in that they are guided by producers in different ways.

In the case of something like American Inventor (or American Idol, or The Voice) producers will set up massive cattle call auditions and then go out of their way to pick the craziest, most narcissistic, or best human interest angles. They had those questions for him because he had told producers all these things in a pre-interview. Then later, the producers intervened in the judging process so that the narrative would play out the way they wanted it to. However, the people auditioning were real people who were hand selected because of how they would come across on TV.

There's also the whole other category of reality shows - American Pickers, Storage Wars, Bigfoot whatever, ghost hunters, which are basically scripted from the outset with staged scenarios and multiple takes to get the reaction they want.

Source: have friends who produce reality shows, have had clients booked on reality shows, was scouted to be an "expert" for an episode of a reality show.

He explains it in this interview: http://realitytvmagazine.sheknows.com/2006/03/30/american-inventor-passes-on-bulletball-but-keeps-the-table/

It's literally the same game with altered rules for competitive play. Because all sports have different names for league play, right? Like basketball is what you play in your driveway, but those bigger, faster guys on tv? That's Basketball Extremeยฎ.

There was a great anecdote told in HDT's "Walden"-- about an indian selling some wears to a wealthy family. The wealthy family does not want any, and the indian did not comprehend how such a wealthy person could refuse to buy their wears.
