It is TechCrunch's official position that Google Chrome will compete full on with Microsoft Windows, and computers will be sold with Chrome only, having the Windows layer "stripped out". I am not shitting you, he actually said that.
And 3 years later the Chromebook was released. . .
just highlights how much journalists shitty bloggers don't know about computers

That man is was doing God's work. I hope he's in a good place rn.
Why are JavaScript scrubs so confindent about their language. Yeah it's the most popular on Github, but that just means webshits don't care enough to set up a gitlab, so those stats are not any more reliable than Pypl or Tiobe
Pijul, like any software, has bugs. In the past, some users have started believing that our bugs are "design choices", and have blamed us for our poor decisions.
So I guess it is, but not the one I thought it was.
Exactly. GitHub violates the Unix principle of simple tools doing simple things. All these millennials with their JavaScript-based โmerge requestsโ are working much slower than the 1200 line bash script I use to generate email patches from CVS and send to my projectโs mailing list.
If there is an error in my patch I can just hand edit it. Plus merge requests are vendor lock-in. My email patch will continue to work even if Github arbitrarily decides to shut my project down (it is M$, donโt forget). Iโd love to see these โmodernโ developers deal with that.
OP please mark posts that require javascript to view so I know to skip over them. Believe it or not some of us enlightened 10x โers refuse to allow unverified and untrusted code to maliciously run on our sacred computing device. (DAE use NoScript? Upvotes on the left!)
HTML was designed to load semantically correct content and have the viewer control the style to their preferences. When I encounter a site that forces me to use their styles, I just skip and move on. Clearly they canโt be bothered to cater to my needs so why waste time humoring them with a visit?
Kinda sorta. JSC runtimes are already ubiquitous. The language spec for JS is evolving fasthaving an epileptic fit. Babbel, Webpack, et al are allowing us to use new shiny things fasterjerk, there is also WASM, so its just a matter of time before people realize that "transpiling" is not worth it!

I was sad when Uncov disappeared from the internet, and happy to find that archive. You should probably scrape it before it goes down.
