All these fang moves are not that good. Like fire fang ice fang etc. I feel like they should of been 75 power just like ice punch and fire punch etc. And crunch moves could make them 75 power with 100 accuracy

It's for balance while leveling. It seems pointless in the grand scheme of things, until you remember that many pokemon (eeveelutions in particular, i think) can learn these moves as STAB options long before many other pokemon are able to.

It's like ember to flamethrower. The prior move needs to exist because the latter move is too good for when you should have a move of that kind.

Ember to flamethrower is a 40 to 90, which makes perfect sense. The proposed Thunder fang to Thunder crunch would only be 65 to 75 or 80.

Change in secondary effect too. They're quite different as moves go. If they weren't so visually similar, you probably wouldn't have said they were practically the same. Hyper Beam and Rock Wrecker have more in common than they do.

It could use a boost too, though it shouldn't be as high as the other fangs in damage because it's secondary effect is way better. Poison fang's draw is that it deals damage and has a 50% chance to badly damage the opponent. It doesn't see much usage because everything that wants to badly poison it's opponent would rather use toxic, and everything that wants a poison attack would rather use something with decent base power. Honestly I'd say keep the damage the same and increase the poison chance. I mean you're literally biting your apponent with poison(technically venom)- what makes it seem like that should only have a 50% chance to poison them?

The elemental fangs are the same way. Nothing uses them as STAB, and if they do that's an issue with movepool, not the moves themselves. Same as the elemental punches.

I agree with the others that it seems silly to add new moves that are only slightly buffed fang moves. If they do go down this road, maybe have them be dual type moves like Flying Press. Dark/Fire, Dark/Ice, Dark/Electric.

My understanding is Flying Press isn't really a dual type move, but it just deals type efficacy depending for Fighting and Flying simultaneously. (Rock and Steel types get hit neutrally, but Hawlucha only gets 1.5x STAB bonus, not 2.25x.)

So I think it'd be fun if the Elemental Fangs were their respective types, but gained dealing Dark damage. No type would have a 4x weakness (Dark being SE against Psychic and Ghost) emerge from it, other than dual types like Jellicent to Thunder Fang, which isn't a big deal as other types get 4x weaknesses to other moves.

The crunch moves would be exactly like the elemental punches with a 10% chance of flinchng. As the ice, electric and fire types lack stronger physical attacks, making them with 95 base power and 95 accuracy would be better.

the fang moves having the same power as the punches makes no sense, the crunches should be more on the power level as Blizzard, Thunder and Fire blast, the fangs are already physical covers for the trio of Ice beam, Thunderbolt and Flamethrower

  • Flame/Thunder/Ice Claw (Variation on Slash)
  • Thunder/Ice Kick (Variation on Blaze Kick)
  • Flame/Thunder/Ice Slam (Variation on Body Slam)
