Well to be fair, most early crypto currency adopters aren't woman friendly. You know the type, the basement dwellers. If you want to join a community related to crypto currency you better be a cis het white man or you can expect to be attacked in one way or another.
Though this particular currency seems to have been created by men to take advantage of that exclusion without being aware of the problem so let's not pretend this is feminist approved
Let me preface this by saying I'm a gay nerd. Nerds are often misogynistic, racist, homophobic, and/or transphobic. They use the toxic masculine trait of insensitivity to pretend superiority as a cover for the impacts of bullying and other negative social pressure they've endured.
It creates an unwelcoming environment and its why those minority groups clump together. Best to avoid the negativity. Even if not all cishet nerds are the problem all minority nerds have experienced their misdirected wrath in some way.
I am not about to scour six year old conversations for this.
Early crypto currency adopters are nerds and programmers. Nerds and programmers have a culture of misogyny. As they say, "quid go pro, quantum aron dextros, happiest corpses"
That's not an excuse but I've found myself a number of groups that are pleasant, politically correct, and constructive. The civilization gaming community, the communities of people who play city building games, role players
Just because a bunch of people are rude doesn't suddenly make them good people and it doesn't make their bullshit okay.
Yes it is. Do you really not see a difference between "cryptocurrency is mean" and "this community is mean"? If you can't separate a product with it's community, then that is on you and no one else.
I didn't say cryptocurrency was mean at any point...

Nowadays crypto is much better; mostly just average people. It is still a majority male and thus has some of the omnipresent online-male casual sexism, but I don't see a lot of it. (Crypto traders, on the other hand, have a stronger /r/wallstreetbets toxic white frat-bro culture.)
As for this coin, over half the team is female and they have a WoC as a diversity ambassador, so it seems like it might not be just a cash grab exploiting the lack of women in the space. Ofc that doesn't mean it's not male-driven or will actually do anything good for women...
Oh my God the whitepaper is a goldmine. Every single goddamn quote or reference is authored by men or an organization led by men - it literally fails the Bechdel test - and the only thing remotely close to a counterexample is quoting Bitcoin's (anonymously ungendered) Nakamoto.
But the best part is hitting ctrl+f and discovering that it never actually uses the possessive pronoun "her" or "hers".
So just like that app where you can press a button to sign a sexual consent contract. Some guys who see a problem and try to solve it with no understanding of what the problem actually is
Plus it only makes two points: "women spend money" and "exactly the same reasons any other cryptocurrency is useful" and then doesn't put the two together in any real way.
I only skimmed through but I couldn't find a single reason for it to exist in the whole thing. Not one. Nada.

There are a TON of digital currency scams out there. It's gotten really popular. Really, don't go with anything that isn't well established.

The first digital currency for women? Did every other digital currency suddenly become men-only when I wasn't looking?
