We're from first world countries. Our game mode is on easy. If you want a bit more of a challenge I'd recommend playing the North Korean map. That mode is on hardcore mode, so good luck with it. Not very many people beat it!
Get really drunk, even you won't know your goals, so Luck doesn't know what to do and just flips a coin to decide your fate. It gets really meta, and then not so meta.

Had a cousin who worked with this guy who broke this massive wall mirror in a dance studio (they were renovating the place or something). He won the lottery a few months later.
The larger the mirror is, the bad luck becomes so bad it eventually flips over into extremely good luck it seems.
Hardly, even if you just consider single-piece mirrors. A number of ground-based telescopes have larger mirrors. Wikipedia searching for five minutes suggests that there might be larger non-telescope applications for even larger mirrors.

For the vast majority, winning the lottery has a terrible effect on their lives. Almost everyone ends up less happy than they were before, and plenty end up bankrupt too. I wouldn't say winning is good luck.
We had to replace a mirror at an anytime fitness because someone launched a dumbbell into a 4 foot by ten foot mirror. His luck wasn't so good because apparently they kicked him out of that gym permanently lol.
Because I'm a huge nerd I crunched the numbers, if you broke 15 mirrors every day you work, and you work 5 days a week for 3 years, you would have ruined 1043 and a half lives assuming a life expectancy of 78.7 years.
Idk about you but I'm going to live to 200 fam. Scientists believe that the first human to live 150 years has already been born. I believe I am that human being. Litrally.

Haha no it just depends on how much mirror I have to cut in a day. Some times its 1 order, some times its 20! And I using just whip the pieces into the dumpster and watch them explode into pieces.
There sorta is, but only at the end. And its still portal stuff. It took me an embarrassingly long time to complete the final part of Portal 1, because of the damn neurotoxin
Portal does not have boss fights. The only thing you might call a 'boss fight' is more like solving simple puzzles under pressure by combining all you've learned... and that that only happens once at the end. Even if you're terrible at the game you'll most likely get past that part on your first go because it's very forgiving.
Portal 2 opens up in the area directly behind where portal 1 ended. You get a quick surprise (that might seem like a boss fight) but it's really nothing more than an in-game cutscene.
Again. There is only one part in the game you might call a boss fight and it doesn't happen until the end of the game. Portal is not a hard game, although it may be a head scratcher because it is a puzzler.
Just go ahead and play it. You won't regret it.
TL;DR does not open with a boss. The part you might call a boss battle is at the end. It's not a challenging game like Dark Souls is... it's a puzzler. Just play it and don't worry about its difficulty.
"Portal Stories: Mel" is a free Portal 2 mod on Steam. It's like an entirely new game though, the amount of content, puzzles, narrative, cut scenes... it's amazing.
I affectionately refer to it as Portal 3 :]
The devs are on Reddit, can't recall the usernames though.

Umm wat? This is great. Is it free? I gotta get this ASAP, Portal 2 is one of the few games I can actually run on my PC.
I liked the first one, but didn't end up getting the second. I saw all the hype about it, but was obsessing on some other game at the time and still haven't bothered.
If it's actually one of the best games ever, I'll have to get around to it sooner rather than later.

I'm a former gamer (grew up and started adulting too much to play video games) and portal 2 is a goddamn masterpiece. I came out of retirement to beat it
The single player is definitely one of my favorite games. The puzzles were challenging and fun, and the setting + voice acting put together just set such a great tone.
I've played this game through a few times even though I know the puzzles. One of the greatest games ever? Completely subjective, but it's one of my favorites. Definitely give it a go!

Portal 2 is great - much better than portal 1 IMO. The amount of story and variety they managed to wrap around a puzzle solving game is quite incredible. Co-op is a blast too.

I finished it myself not too long ago. Finished the first one a long time ago. It was a solid game. Worth playing. Many of the puzzles in the second game seemed more about making accurate jumps and using your portal gun to hit targets while mid-air than the first game. It felt like there were more times when I'd already figured out the solution, but instead of moving on I was reloading or struggling to hit a target. I still recommend it. The story in single player mode was extremely satisfying.
It's good, definitely worth playing. Not a best game ever by any means though.

I think part of the reason I loved it so much is the fact I got it on a Steam sale for like $3.99. But I honestly believe it's one of the top 10 gaming experiences I've ever had. It's unique, it's well crafted, the writing is fantastic.
It's my favorite game experience of single player of all time. And actually co op too. I haven't played it in a while because you need time to forget the puzzles if you even can. But the story was so god damn compelling. I just wanted more and more
Imma say that the first is better. I know it's unpopular to say-- but I liked the charm of the first one a lot more. The second seemed very... Aware of itself. And also the puzzles were not nearly as clever.
I will say that the coop was a blast though. So much fun split-screening that with my little cousin for a weekend.

Uhhh, yes. It's not a terribly long game, and it is slow at first. The story really picks up after a couple hours. They introduce a few extra gaming mechanisms other than just portals too. You will definitely laugh out loud if you devote some time to it.

SoundBlaster is still a thing. I have a Creative SoundBlaster G5 external soundcard that has a kickass headphone amp in it and does virtual surround sound. (NOTE: Internet Explorer 11 will autocorrect "Soundblaster" to "SoundBlaster." It's still relevant!
Talos is repetitive and gets stupidly hard. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the game. I just wouldn't nearly rank it as high as Portal 2.
Yeah there's more content, more environment, but there's no incentive for me to keep going.
Portal 2 has it all - challenging puzzles (but not stupidly challenging), action scenes, humor, tragedy, and most importantly fresh concepts around every turn. It makes you want to keep going and going and you're sad when it ends.
In Talos, it boils down to one concept.. Picking stuff up and putting them down again, just in hard to reach placements.

Portal 1 was tight, had better focus and was actually funny.
Portal 2 had a host of superfluous characters with cringe-inducing jokes, crap-ass puzzles (walk around this big empty room to find the one place you can throw a portal on and continue is NOT a puzzle) and went on for way too long. Didn't play the Co-Op so if that's where the game gets good I didn't see it.
Okay then, so maybe a system of mirrors going around the outside of the room (hidden in the walls?), so that if you look into one "portal" you are actually looking out of the other? Like a periscope bent back on itself.

That could probably work. Of course you'd need physical communication between the portals, but appropriate lenses might make it practical on some scale.

True. If you were really smart and really fancy, you could set up a system that uses a motion tracker and a motor-mounted camera and some custom software so that the camera, and thus the view it displays, changes based on the location of the viewer. Though if you had multiple people/moving objects in front of it, it would all go to hell.
I feel like you could just inset the screen a foot or so back. With the entire screen filling more space behind the frame of the portal. Giving the effect of movement. Might need a parabolic screen though to compensate for distortion.

You're right. But I had an interesting thought when I first looked at the pics, what if the mirrors were actually displays, and each one has a camera that outputs to its opposite? So the blue portal will display its own image as seen from the orange, and vice versa.

But if they were next to each other, looking into blue would show the wall behind you without you there since you are standing in front of blue looking out of orange! It's tricky.

I made a shitty version of these and had the same problem. Blue is way brighter. If anyone is thinking of making one I'd recommend doubling down on the orange lights or something.

But could you in theory have a light source that emits more light than is absorbed by the mirror per unit time? Then there would be a net increase in photons over time and it would get brighter and brighter. Unless the rate at which they get absorbed scales with how many are in the environment.
No because that would imply that the mirrors create photons without a net loss in energy (potential or otherwise). So no it doesnt work in theoretical terms.
I had a similar idea, but I thought that if a lightbulb was put inside the sphere, the light would just keep on increasing so you could melt anyone you put inside.

I'm guessing youre not much of a gamer, but If you've got something to play it on I would absolutely recommend getting it.
It's probably the most fun game ever made that's also in no way intimidating to a non gamer. Even my mom enjoyed it and her gaming history is basically "the first few levels of candy crush"
Don't have a source but I did this and it's pretty easy. Get LED ropes, I got mine Orange Tree Trade and they seem to work fine, but any should do. Then just grab some cheap oval mirrors from Ikea and put them on the back. Only major problem is that the blue is way brighter, as you can see in this picture.
Someone near me is selling two oval mirrors, and seeing this post here makes me want to try it. But the site you mention charges $20, while amazon charges Around $10 for the same length. Do you think the brands are too different? I've never bought anything like that.
That would probably work, you just need to make sure you can power it properly. The rope lights from that site make a nice spiral pattern on the wall but the strip lights shouldn't be too different. I don't think that brand on Amazon has orange, but I'm sure it's on there somewhere.
Would EL wire be bright enough to cast the glow on the wall? I haven't worked with it much, but on paper it should work fine. The LED rope naturally makes a nice spiral pattern which is why I went with it, but that's just personal preference.
In the dark I think it'd be plenty bright enough. Not as bright as these LEDs, but I think that would make it look better. Unless this picture is just horribly overexposed.
Literally just google "Portal Mirrors" and you can get it for $249.... or just go buy two identical oval mirrors, get some LEDs, and google around for some tips or DIY on using LED/mirrors.
Asking the important questions here. Also, why does their living room have no windows? I be it's one of those tricked up basements I see on those Canadian house hunter shows my wife watches...

Hardly, even if you just consider single-piece mirrors. A number of ground-based telescopes have larger mirrors. Wikipedia searching for five minutes suggests that there might be larger non-telescope applications for even larger mirrors.

No dude, it does not open with a boss fight.
Portal does not have boss fights. The only thing you might call a 'boss fight' is more like solving simple puzzles under pressure by combining all you've learned... and that that only happens once at the end. Even if you're terrible at the game you'll most likely get past that part on your first go because it's very forgiving.
Portal 2 opens up in the area directly behind where portal 1 ended. You get a quick surprise (that might seem like a boss fight) but it's really nothing more than an in-game cutscene.
Again. There is only one part in the game you might call a boss fight and it doesn't happen until the end of the game. Portal is not a hard game, although it may be a head scratcher because it is a puzzler.
Just go ahead and play it. You won't regret it.
TL;DR does not open with a boss. The part you might call a boss battle is at the end. It's not a challenging game like Dark Souls is... it's a puzzler. Just play it and don't worry about its difficulty.

"Portal Stories: Mel" is a free Portal 2 mod on Steam. It's like an entirely new game though, the amount of content, puzzles, narrative, cut scenes... it's amazing.
I affectionately refer to it as Portal 3 :]
The devs are on Reddit, can't recall the usernames though.

The single player is definitely one of my favorite games. The puzzles were challenging and fun, and the setting + voice acting put together just set such a great tone.
I've played this game through a few times even though I know the puzzles. One of the greatest games ever? Completely subjective, but it's one of my favorites. Definitely give it a go!

I finished it myself not too long ago. Finished the first one a long time ago. It was a solid game. Worth playing. Many of the puzzles in the second game seemed more about making accurate jumps and using your portal gun to hit targets while mid-air than the first game. It felt like there were more times when I'd already figured out the solution, but instead of moving on I was reloading or struggling to hit a target. I still recommend it. The story in single player mode was extremely satisfying.

Imma say that the first is better. I know it's unpopular to say-- but I liked the charm of the first one a lot more. The second seemed very... Aware of itself. And also the puzzles were not nearly as clever.
I will say that the coop was a blast though. So much fun split-screening that with my little cousin for a weekend.

Uhhh, yes. It's not a terribly long game, and it is slow at first. The story really picks up after a couple hours. They introduce a few extra gaming mechanisms other than just portals too. You will definitely laugh out loud if you devote some time to it.

Talos is repetitive and gets stupidly hard. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the game. I just wouldn't nearly rank it as high as Portal 2.
Yeah there's more content, more environment, but there's no incentive for me to keep going.
Portal 2 has it all - challenging puzzles (but not stupidly challenging), action scenes, humor, tragedy, and most importantly fresh concepts around every turn. It makes you want to keep going and going and you're sad when it ends.
In Talos, it boils down to one concept.. Picking stuff up and putting them down again, just in hard to reach placements.

Portal 1 was tight, had better focus and was actually funny.
Portal 2 had a host of superfluous characters with cringe-inducing jokes, crap-ass puzzles (walk around this big empty room to find the one place you can throw a portal on and continue is NOT a puzzle) and went on for way too long. Didn't play the Co-Op so if that's where the game gets good I didn't see it.

If you were really smart and really fancy, you could set up a system that uses a motion tracker and a motor-mounted camera and some custom software so that the camera, and thus the view it displays, changes based on the location of the viewer. Though if you had multiple people/moving objects in front of it, it would all go to hell.

I had a similar idea, but I thought that if a lightbulb was put inside the sphere, the light would just keep on increasing so you could melt anyone you put inside.

It's probably the most fun game ever made that's also in no way intimidating to a non gamer. Even my mom enjoyed it and her gaming history is basically "the first few levels of candy crush"

Don't have a source but I did this and it's pretty easy. Get LED ropes, I got mine Orange Tree Trade and they seem to work fine, but any should do. Then just grab some cheap oval mirrors from Ikea and put them on the back. Only major problem is that the blue is way brighter, as you can see in this picture.

That would probably work, you just need to make sure you can power it properly. The rope lights from that site make a nice spiral pattern on the wall but the strip lights shouldn't be too different. I don't think that brand on Amazon has orange, but I'm sure it's on there somewhere.
