This one and the Ned Flanders/Walter White made very little sense in comparison to the others. Not entirely creative, but at least a little interesting.
I had the exact same though at first, but the outside appearance of the two makes sense. It's the good natured neighbor that nobody would expect to do something illegal. Only difference is Ned (as far as we know hasn't), while Walt cooked a little bit of meth. The one that I don't get is the minion/storm trooper, it should really be a storm trooper holding a minion mask.

I completely agree with your citations, but I'm gonna go ahead and nitpick a bit: your order is wrong. Anthology of Interest I was first, then A Pharaoh to Remember, and finally Benderama. Benderama was from the Comedy Central run, while the other two are from the Fox run.
I'm imagining an alternate telling of that movie starring Bender, where he starts out all cranky in full Bender mode and reluctantly has a heart of gold in the end.
It's even a bit deeper than that, illustrating cultural appropriation by the L.A. entertainment industry. Betty Boop is black, based on a real person, and Jessica Rabbit has come to usurp her role by copying her performance and replacing Boop.
It was a huge effort that got Warner Brothers and Disney to allow their characters to be used in the same movie. It's a mix of live action and animation. Traditional cell animation. It's probably the last great cell animation movie ever made by a major American studio.
It's dark.
Infidelity, murder, betrayal, conspiracy, alcoholism, car chases, patty-cake.
To date, from a technical aspect I feel this is the most well made movie of all time. I believe everything I see in this movie. It's incredible

Storm troopers were basically minions from a previous generation (though less annoying). Conceptually, I feel like out of all of these, that's the only one to make any thing resembling sense.
I saw it as minions only having one eye and they couldn't really see out of the mask made for two eyes so that's why stormtroppers can't shoot well haha. Idk.... Haha

It's gotten pretty bad recently and will only get worse. Growing popularity made this inevitable. The average age of this site has taken a nosedive the last year or so.
In a website with millions of people, there are going to be those who don't like the content posted, and they are more likely to comment about it than the people who enjoy it. That's why you often see post with thousands of upvotes that get trashed in the comments. So of course it seems nit picky.
It's seems like reddit has always been the way, or a least it has in the years I've been using it. I haven't noticed it getting any "worse".

Nah, Burns is an old-school, tycoon, Citizen Kane type villain who Upton Sinclair might create. T. Herman Zweibel of the older Onion issues is another similar character...one who indeed is motivated by greedy self-interest, but also by an ideology, and seeks to revert the world to an older, more feudal type of capitalism, similar to Tammany Hall.
Trump is more the spoiled, shystery, bullying buffoon you see more in the Biff Tannens of fiction and non-fiction - a person driven more by pure self-interest and glitzy image, without any concern for changing the world through ideology.

Part of the reason I think is because cartoons like these appear as if they have quite specific inferences.
Eg. Brian from Family guy's just a recycling of the original 'Snoopy', Beebop n Rocksteady basically being Beavis n Butthead.
From the get-go that's just a moronically short-sighted and petulant message to swipe through. But additionally, a lot of the un-masked elements came about after their cover-ups. Even if it's not pop-culture-politically motivated, which I suspect it is, its poorly thought out anyway.
So at best it's just some random babushka cartoons, and at worst it's an ill considered, incorrect piece of plagiarism.
So before you compare the response to YouTube (which in case you haven't noticed has drastically improved in recent years) remember that just because something exists and looks kinda nice, doesn't mean it can't happen to be complete shit at closer inspection.
I just took it as some fun little mash-ups. Pop-culture-politically motived? What the hell are you talking about? What do you you think the artist is trying to say about Dexter and Dexter's Lab then? Or Krang and The Brain? Or Bender and The Iron Giant? I don't think the artist has any agenda, or is trying to make any serious points, or is trying to blow anyone's minds or any shit like that.
The title is pretty dumb - I'll give you that - but I certainly wouldn't call the art "complete shit". Like you said, it exists and looks kinda nice... pretty much meets my criteria for an /r/pics post.

I think the art is fine. I'm not crazy about it - I'd agree that they could've come up with a tighter theme, maybe put a little more thought behind it, but I enjoyed looking through them. I like the artist's style - particularly the shadows/shading. I'm not making the point that this is an amazing /r/pics post... but fuck, these comments are just ripping it apart... it seems uncharacteristic.
(Also, I guess Youtube comments may have gotten a little better? I'd argue it really depends on the video/uploader/community. It's not a meteor; it's a cookie wand. Me and Jeff made it because it made you look more like the Cookie Crisp wizard, which is not even a reference I get because the Cookie Crisp mascot when I was growing up wasn't a wizard. It was a burglar.
This is the kind of thing that gets old for a lot of people as they develop their sense of humor. It's like, when you're a little kid and someone says, "One day Burger King went to McDonalds" and that's all it takes to be super funny because you're a little kid and even something so obvious is surprising and funny. As you age and develop a deeper sense of humor it usually takes something a bit less predictable to be funny. The premise of the joke has to be something you're not super familiar with already.
It's not really humor, it's entertainment. There's a difference. And you just sound pretentious. My dad is nearing 60 and he still laughs at the fart joke in Blazing Saddles.

I think this is a terrible idea. While there are archetypes which some of these pairings share, there is also a uniqueness to each character which is totally ignored in these "clever" comparisons. Most of these characters are rich and complex, and a reductive merging with another character of dubious similarity, not to mention suggesting one is actually underneath the surface of the other, is stupid and accomplishes nothing.

This is the most lazy, uninspired, boring pop-art I've seen in some while. What was going through the artist's head when they made this? I mean, I get it. Not every idea has to be grade-A. But, to turn it into a book... Christ. It reminds me of this one piece I saw, in a coffee shop, of Batman riding a skateboard? Why is Batman riding a skateboard, other than the fact that both those things are popular? And it wasn't even aesthetically interesting, it really was just Batman standing on a skateboard, much like these characters are just standing there. It's annoying, how defiant their postures are. Like, "Hey! You get this reference, right? Buy the t-shirt!" like that's all that's necessary. And, conceptually, beyond the cynical somebody-likes-The-Simpsons-and-is-going-to-buy-this, none of it really makes any sense. That's not what the images are saying. And I really can't believe I'm going to explain this as I thought the idea was incredibly simple.
The newer characters are really just the old characters. New popular dog is really just old popular dog. New popular troublemaker is really just old popular troublemaker.
It's a really simple idea and somehow you missed it. It only works one way not both. You wouldn't see a dennis the menace costume that has bart inside it as bart came later.
Your explanation doesn't apply to minions being stormtoopers, or to--as others have said--Beavis and Butthead being those TMNT characters. So, not only is the idea lazy and stupid, but it's inconsistent, making the art come off as even more lazy and stupid.
It's just bad stuff, man. As a joke, it's unfunny, and as art, it's uninteresting.

In all seriousness though, I don't understand the message either. At first I assumed the older characters were wearing disguises as the new characters, to imply that new ideas always come from somewhere else, but Disney's Merlin came after Gandalf, The Dexters really only share a name, and Bender is nothing like the Iron Giant, unless you count the superficial robot part.
I think the artist started with this theme in mind, but lost it along the way in lieu of mashing two vaguely related characters together. On a technical level I enjoy it, but I feel like it relies heavily on nostalgia for its popularity.
But thats just my opinion.

I had the exact same though at first, but the outside appearance of the two makes sense. It's the good natured neighbor that nobody would expect to do something illegal. Only difference is Ned (as far as we know hasn't), while Walt cooked a little bit of meth. The one that I don't get is the minion/storm trooper, it should really be a storm trooper holding a minion mask.

Herman Zweibel of the older Onion issues is another similar character...one who indeed is motivated by greedy self-interest, but also by an ideology, and seeks to revert the world to an older, more feudal type of capitalism, similar to Tammany Hall.

Part of the reason I think is because cartoons like these appear as if they have quite specific inferences.
Eg. Brian from Family guy's just a recycling of the original 'Snoopy', Beebop n Rocksteady basically being Beavis n Butthead.
From the get-go that's just a moronically short-sighted and petulant message to swipe through. But additionally, a lot of the un-masked elements came about after their cover-ups. Even if it's not pop-culture-politically motivated, which I suspect it is, its poorly thought out anyway.
So at best it's just some random babushka cartoons, and at worst it's an ill considered, incorrect piece of plagiarism.
So before you compare the response to YouTube (which in case you haven't noticed has drastically improved in recent years) remember that just because something exists and looks kinda nice, doesn't mean it can't happen to be complete shit at closer inspection.

I just took it as some fun little mash-ups. Pop-culture-politically motived? What the hell are you talking about? What do you you think the artist is trying to say about Dexter and Dexter's Lab then? Or Krang and The Brain? Or Bender and The Iron Giant? I don't think the artist has any agenda, or is trying to make any serious points, or is trying to blow anyone's minds or any shit like that.
The title is pretty dumb - I'll give you that - but I certainly wouldn't call the art "complete shit". Like you said, it exists and looks kinda nice... pretty much meets my criteria for an /r/pics post.
It's just weird, I don't usually see so much hate for something like this on reddit.
I think the art is fine. I'm not crazy about it - I'd agree that they could've come up with a tighter theme, maybe put a little more thought behind it, but I enjoyed looking through them. I like the artist's style - particularly the shadows/shading. I'm not making the point that this is an amazing /r/pics post... but fuck, these comments are just ripping it apart... it seems uncharacteristic.
(Also, I guess Youtube comments may have gotten a little better? I'd argue it really depends on the video/uploader/community. Something like a Lets Player channel with a bit of a following might have comments that are okay, but something like Getting Doug with High still has fucking toxic comments on a regular basis.)

I think this is a terrible idea. While there are archetypes which some of these pairings share, there is also a uniqueness to each character which is totally ignored in these "clever" comparisons. Most of these characters are rich and complex, and a reductive merging with another character of dubious similarity, not to mention suggesting one is actually underneath the surface of the other, is stupid and accomplishes nothing.

This is the most lazy, uninspired, boring pop-art I've seen in some while. What was going through the artist's head when they made this? I mean, I get it. Not every idea has to be grade-A. But, to turn it into a book... Christ. It reminds me of this one piece I saw, in a coffee shop, of Batman riding a skateboard? Why is Batman riding a skateboard, other than the fact that both those things are popular? And it wasn't even aesthetically interesting, it really was just Batman standing on a skateboard, much like these characters are just standing there. It's annoying, how defiant their postures are. Like, "Hey! You get this reference, right? Buy the t-shirt!" like that's all that's necessary. And, conceptually, beyond the cynical somebody-likes-The-Simpsons-and-is-going-to-buy-this, none of it really makes any sense. Two vaguely similar characters are now each other, or have been each other, the whole time! Fucking whatever.
Look, I mean, if my mom made this, I wouldn't be so harsh. If some down-on-his-luck autistic kid managed to get a book deal out of this, I'd honestly be happy for them. But I don't know who made this, and chances are it was neither someone's sad mom or an autistic person.
What it comes off as is cynical, stupid, lazy fucking bullshit. And that's all.

That's not what the images are saying. And I really can't believe I'm going to explain this as I thought the idea was incredibly simple.
The newer characters are really just the old characters. New popular dog is really just old popular dog. New popular troublemaker is really just old popular troublemaker.
It's a really simple idea and somehow you missed it. It only works one way not both. You wouldn't see a dennis the menace costume that has bart inside it as bart came later.

Your explanation doesn't apply to minions being stormtoopers, or to--as others have said--Beavis and Butthead being those TMNT characters. So, not only is the idea lazy and stupid, but it's inconsistent, making the art come off as even more lazy and stupid.
It's just bad stuff, man. As a joke, it's unfunny, and as art, it's uninteresting.

In all seriousness though, I don't understand the message either. At first I assumed the older characters were wearing disguises as the new characters, to imply that new ideas always come from somewhere else, but Disney's Merlin came after Gandalf, The Dexters really only share a name, and Bender is nothing like the Iron Giant, unless you count the superficial robot part.
I think the artist started with this theme in mind, but lost it along the way in lieu of mashing two vaguely related characters together. On a technical level I enjoy it, but I feel like it relies heavily on nostalgia for its popularity.
But thats just my opinion.

Not true simply posting 1-2 pictures would entice many to buy it. Posting all of them means very few will care to do so.
Giving someone the endure CD for free doesn't make anyone buy it. Believing everyone that viewed it here would have simply gone into a book store and looked through it instead is silly.
Was it nice to give us all a look at the book? Sure. But it is a fuck the author move.
