Just imagine the NSA, figuring terrorists are using encrypted communications, and 'do you want this bowl' appearing as a very suspicious name for a group, using their supercomputer to unencrypt this.
I know you're not exactly being serious but just fyi- even all of the computers in the world put together couldn't decrypt something that was well-encrypted (like AES-256 or something).
That's why you hear all those stories about the government trying to limit encryption or the NSA having backdoors installed- they literally can't read encrypted data by decrypting it. The only way they can see that data is if they are able to find another point of vulnerability, such as the aforementioned backdoors, or something like gaining access to either the sending or receiving device.

The fact that she had the skills to change the icon and we've the group it's kind of astounding. If my mom had accidentally started a group, that group would have continued on until Facebook closed down.
My wife's Grand just let people put s postit on the bottom of the object, which meant it was theirs when they she died...be glad the group wasn't ,"Who's handling my remains" group.
Or make a group that is called, "Who's moving to an old folks home?" group.
This just made my day. Not to brag, but I'm having a pretty big day. I woke up pissing on my dresser for starts (thanks Cavs), and my best friend had his 1st child on my Bday!

What's the score with the end-to-end encryption message? I've never seen that on Facebook group chats, is it true?
I'll admit to not being super clued about encryption but how does end-to-end work when I can login to a Facebook account from any device and still see those apparently end-to-end encrypted messages. Is it technically end-to-end but not really in practice?
I always thought of it as "End to end means the provider can't read the messages" but Facebook can surely read whatever the fuck they want on an account, if all it takes is the login to make everything available. Like, end to end on my phone would mean that my carrier cannot read my messages, that no-one can unless they had my phone or the phone that I was messaging. Am I misunderstanding?

Whatsapp chats are stored locally on your device, although you can back it up to iCloud. Your account is linked to your mobile number so no one else can log in to it
She didn't do all of this, its automated by Facebook. I know this because it happened to me 2 days ago. I messaged someone I haven't messaged before and it turned into a group and named the group the first thing I said. then it "changed the icon", even though I never saw an icon. As soon as you're the only one left in the group, you are automatic admin. Not to be confused with "automatic asshole" from the #1 college card game, Asshole.

I know you're not exactly being serious but just fyi- even all of the computers in the world put together couldn't decrypt something that was well-encrypted (like AES-256 or something).
That's why you hear all those stories about the government trying to limit encryption or the NSA having backdoors installed- they literally can't read encrypted data by decrypting it. The only way they can see that data is if they are able to find another point of vulnerability, such as the aforementioned backdoors, or something like gaining access to either the sending or receiving device.

What's the score with the end-to-end encryption message? I've never seen that on Facebook group chats, is it true?
I'll admit to not being super clued about encryption but how does end-to-end work when I can login to a Facebook account from any device and still see those apparently end-to-end encrypted messages. Is it technically end-to-end but not really in practice?
I always thought of it as "End to end means the provider can't read the messages" but Facebook can surely read whatever the fuck they want on an account, if all it takes is the login to make everything available. Like, end to end on my phone would mean that my carrier cannot read my messages, that no-one can unless they had my phone or the phone that I was messaging. Am I misunderstanding?

Whatsapp chats are stored locally on your device, although you can back it up to iCloud. Your account is linked to your mobile number so no one else can log in to it

She didn't do all of this, its automated by Facebook. I know this because it happened to me 2 days ago. I messaged someone I haven't messaged before and it turned into a group and named the group the first thing I said. then it "changed the icon", even though I never saw an icon. As soon as you're the only one left in the group, you are automatic admin. Not to be confused with "automatic asshole" from the #1 college card game, Asshole.
