Who remembers reading Eyewitness Books?

As a kid, I loved the format and found it actually conducive to learning.

My SO bought me a bunch of these last year for my birthday! I still love them

Anyone remember the CD ROM / games that they made too? I seem to remember one in a Dinosaur Museum where you had to find their bones. So cool :)

been trying to remember the names of these for so long, yes! i remember the one on mammals was always checked out, never knew why until i managed to snag it for myself. there was a picture of an ladys tit hanging out. i was in awe.

I loved the books as well as the videos you could rent at the library. They were all narrated by Martin Sheen.

I've checked out the weather one so many times in my middle school. I was the only one that signed it out for weeks. I had a fascination with tornados and still do want to see one so bad in person. I wonder if 20 years later if my name/initials are still in that book

Public librarian checking in. These books are still in print and super popular with the kiddos. I suggest you go on your library's online catalog and request a few. Even as an adult, I still think they're very cool.

These things were great. I had bad asthma as a kid and when I was at daycare I would have to go sit in the office at the front to do my breathing treatment (which is basically vaporizing medicine and misting it at you) for fifteen minutes. It would have been miserable had that office not had a big set of the Eyewitness books I could read.

When I was a kid I would stay awake late at night reading these and other books like these.. Then, for better or worse, along came the internet.

Could have swore I saw a couple recently in a budget bin.

The Sharks and the Mummy ones were my favorite. I remember Martin Sheen's narration in the film series!

Man I fucking loved that exact book, still remember some of the names like the crowbill war pick and Sharp's Derringer. Was also pretty stoked to visit the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford and realise quite a few of the weapons from the book are actually in there.

These were like the equivalent of how I use Wikipedia today. Just read extremely detailed shit about pretty random, but interesting things

Someone just donated boxes of these to the library I work at! Unfortunately they were all from 1990 or so and couldn't be put in the collection but me and the other employees were nostalging hard.

God, there were some Boss books as a kid. Those books, and the ones that cut things in half so you could see inside. Who wouldn't want to read with such cool stuff to look at!

Yeah they were really great at presenting stuff. I still have a couple of them at home but they're in a pretty bad shape. My favorite is the one about cars. Also did they have Sticker Albums?

I've got an Eyewitness for the Human Body! College anatomy professor required it, actually! Very very useful because it isn't bogged down with text like textbooks. Simple, thorough, and easy to read. Love it.

I have that exact same book on top of my stack in my bookcase. I left them out for my four year old to get into when she is ready. I don't have many but they were great books. I loved the format and illustration/layout style.

I saw one at a garage sale once and the topic was sex and it was pretty graphic, not like a sex ed book. I guess they weren't all made for kids lol
