Red Herring was the highlight of the show for me. I would watch and just anticipate the end when Freddie would undoubtedly accuse Red Herring. Then Red Herring would show up, pissed off, and threaten to pound Freddie or something. Classic.
Holy shit I finally got that joke. A red herring is a non meaningful clue that distracts from the actual mystery case. Well my childhood officially died.

It was really odd rewatching an episode of this and hearing his voice again. The actor played Kevin on Mission Hill, and sounds almost the same. Also Robin on teen titans.
I used to come home from school and watch this like every day and eat off-brand oreos with a big ol' glass of milk... Major nostalgia wave just hit me. Thank you for posting this. :D

fun little fact: oreo's are actually the off-brand of another similar cookie called hydrox.

I have a strange affection for all of these "younger versions of things" shows. Baby Looney Tunes, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Tiny Toons, Baby Muppet. There's just something about them that I like.
I was the opposite, I liked grown up versions of things and didn't understand the hate that some shows got for doing a 5-10 years later type timeskip. I think we all know what show I'm talking about..

I was pissed when this show came out because I thought it was such a stupid representation of the classic Scooby Doo cast. I guess I was too old by that point.

edit--not sure if the term for an illegitimate child is safe for PG-13 ears. It's been so long since I was 13.
