I worked at a place in a part-time casual job, and every time a full time job came up, I applied for it but didn't get it. Every time I'd get a little more bitter, especially when I watched people get the job, work there for 6 months, a year, maybe more, then leave.
Eventually I just gave up and moved on. But I was definitely "casual-zoned" by that job for years.
Believe me I have been there; hell, technically I'm there now. In Texas, people can keep you on as a temp indefinitely. I work full time and have been for over a year and will for the foreseeable future, but I'm still a "temp". I like my co-workers and I don't have to dress up for work, so I'm staying. I will never work for another cubicle farm that makes me wear business casual; fuck that shit.

After about a year I came to my desk and found a bunch of new personal items there. Apparently I had been splitting the work hours with someone who got hired on to replace me.

Well yeah, people vent to friends. I vent to my friends. If these guys aren't exaggerating (which they probably are) then they should probably stop being so chicken shit and say something like "hey, you vent about your problems a little too often. I feel like that's all we talk about."
If youre not willing to communicate your needs with friends, you'll never be able to do it with a girlfriend.
I've definitely seen examples of a chick saying things to a guy like, "I wish I had a bf who was just like you". and I've also seen them complain about their bf to guys that like them before. Sometimes even if the "friendzoned" dude has already expressed his feelings. I count situations like THAT as inconsiderate on the woman's part tbh.

If they think you're still a friend, they're going to talk to you about things friends talk about and which already has precedence as a topic of conversation, and that includes their romantic relationships. If that's unacceptable or seems inconsiderate, you probably shouldn't stay friends with that person. Might hurt you both to cut that contact, but it's better in the long run because then you can both find people who meet your needs.
No. Once it has been established that the person does not reciprocate interest they have no reason to tiptoe around your feelings. If you can't handle being someone's friend after they've refused to date you, you should just move on at that point. Continuing to hang around hoping they'll change their mind indicates you want to be a friend, and you're going to get treated like one.
That's actually an interesting idea in some ways... o_O
Got mine because I talked about my job to the boss regularly, not as complaining or bragging, just told him I had a part-time job that's very physically demanding, and that I wasn't going back to college that semester. He told me half his staff was going back to school, and he needed someone to back-up some times, as he was closing for winter. I happened to live close, so I didn't mind, 6 weeks while my other job had no contracts for me that season.
this isn't entirely true cause stores consider employes, i don't know if it applies to girls as i am a very much straight white cis male piggie but i wouldn't even consider a "nice guy" : D
