Eh, swinging counterbalance in the opposite arm with a more rotational aspect in the throwing motion as opposed to a cantilevered launch like a typical inbound pass. Would say this is closer to Trebuchet than Catapult.
I was curious when KCP left the basket to get in position for that pass...
He was still within the 3 point line (although accelerating out like a rocket) at 9 seconds into the clip, when Lebron's hand touched the ball and they made eye contact.
He takes the shot on the opposing basket 3 seconds later at 12, as best I can tell.
There are two amazing players here (if not 10 compared to 99.999% of the world).
Also the one where he literally threw it from one corner under the basket to the other side of the court.
I dont think people realize how fucked that pass is because he makes those plays look so simple.

this is my favorite full court pass of his. As for halfcourt then its one of the mozgov no looks or the old school no look to biz z one against the wizards that seems to be lost on youtube at the moment.
Bron and wade for sure. Bosh was pretty low on the list for 'fun' highlights. Norriscoleand Mariochalmerswere definitely Number 3 and 4 on the heatles due to their oop ability and birdman was sadly the best dunker besides lebron on any of the heatles teams. Dampier had a surprising amount of right place/right time dunks from the fast ass passing of those teams
That was the beauty of Bush's game. I always felt he was the calm collected one that kept them grounded, and he almost always came through with a key free throw or a big defensive stop when it mattered.
I know CB is is one of the Heatles but I really feel that his importance is overlooked simply because of the two giants that he played alongside.

I certainly canโt speak for Lebron, but I write with my left hand and shoot/swing/kick with my right. Both feel natural to me. Itโs a unique kind of ambidexterity in the sense that I am not equal with both hands. I canโt write for shit with my right, and Iโm even more hopeless shooting with my left.

I don't believe goofy/natural has any correlation with left/right handedness, since almost half of skaters are goofy whereas only 10% of people are left handed. So, it's pretty much just a coin-toss which way you'll skate
Same, write lefty (and eat and other wrist things), throw righty. I kick lefty though. Iโm also completely hopeless shorting with my left but I can shart with either cheek.
I think most leftys end up mixed. I am left handed too and shoot/swing/throw right handed but I'm also left eye dominant so I shoot a gun, play pool, bowl left handed.
Best of all though, due to lack of availability of lefty scissors in school growing up I can use scissors with both hands. Works well for cutting around things since I can switch hands.

This is me too, is this something most lefties do? ๐ people look at me all weird when im left handed and they expect me to use my left hand when playing sports
I'm all over the place too. I write with my right, shoot and throw with my right. Hockey , baseball , golf use my left. As a collegiate soccer player I can say a lot of the reason I got as far as I did was being dominant with both feet, which was luck of the draw being born semi-ambidextrous I suppose.
I'm the same though , cannot shoot with my left or cannot write with my left.
This isn't the hardest thing to do with your dominant hand if you're used to throwing these types of baseball passes. Still impressive, but it's something you could try at the YMCA and pull off about 30% of the time.
Doing this with his off hand is what makes this insane. What the fuck.

I disagree with your chances, but I have a legitimate chance. I, at 5'8, have a true chance of beating Lebron for a few reasons so let me explain. This slightly below average height is the optimum build because it allows me to do things on the court he hasn't seen. I can run through his legs for one, and my shorter strides will make me appear so much slower than him that he will be more tempted to go for steals, and then I'll use my awkwardly long arms to rip a crossover that will take this old man's ankles clean out. It's really a matter of science more than anything else.

Uhhh. I think heโs better than a lot of people. This is one of those plays where you realize he has perfected the art of utilizing his own talents and those of his teammates in the most efficient way possible. He barely even moved that entire play. Just sat there, let the ball come to him, then lobbed it cross court to KCP. Let the other guys do all the running, then pulled out the one move no one else can touch - the full court pass

I can't find a source for it, but IIRC a childhood coach convinced him to perform daily tasks with his left hand to develop fine motor skills and he just never stopped. He's also said that he thinks he shoots right handed because he learned by imitating his favorite players, so he might be naturally ambidextrous.
I think this is a trait that a lot of GOAT-level people possess that people donโt think about: the absolute mastery of knowing where your teammates and the opposing team are and anticipating/countering their movements while also playing your own role at a top level. Iโm just here from /r/all but Iโm big into pro League of Legends and thatโs one of the things Faker, the LeBron of LoL, is well-known for, too.

God damn, that 2004-2009 t-mac era makes me sad. I thought when Shaq was traded outta LA the west was yao's tbh. When he was healthy, he was unstoppable. He just couldn't make it to the playoffs and it'd end up being T-mac playing his God damn heart out and it was heart breaking.

Andrew Bynum is one of those great basketball what-if's for me. I know he was plagued by injury, but he took the Shaq approach of only rehabbing on Company time and refusing to do any sort of strength training to build up his legs and knees when he had access to the best rehabilitation specialists in the world.
Then you get reports of him just shooting the ball every time he touched it no matter where he was standing during practice in Cleveland and life long friends and high-school teammates reporting that he never truly wanted to play basketball or cares about it. He was just so talented that it would have been foolish not to play. It seems like it eventually kicked in that his free ride wouldn't last forever because he started trying to get back into the NBA a couple of years ago and seems like every team black listed him like they did AI when he tried to come back.
It's what happens when a team is built around a guy who relies on fouls even during the playoffs. Although that one year with cp3 was special, cp3 was the leader of the team vs the warriors.
I watched this about 30 times before coming to the comments and I audibly said the exact same thing before clicking

The centre on my team and myself used to do a training exercise like this using off hand and main hand. To catch it on a no bounce rebound and to hit in stride during a game

My favorite was some like full court bounce pass he did when he went back to Cleveland that blew my mind but I havent seen it since. But he has so many this is definitely up there now.
I dont see anything all time or even nearly highlight worthy on there but holy crap are those the distances that all those distance stats uses on 3pt attempts? I always had a feeling they were dramatized but thats like over 3 ft off on each shot. A regular top of the key 3 is listed as a 27' shot and a slightly off key 3 is listed as 26'. The arc is 23'9 so none of those should be over 24 if we are talking about release point like i had always hoped but even plant foot is like 24'6 max on those shots.

Somewhere there's a Dr J highlight very much like this one. He catches it right handed above his head and immediately whips it down court to Andrew Toney for a layup. It wasn't quite as quick as this, but the smoothness and grace was pure Doc.
I think heโs the smoothest player ever. He literally played ball with grace. Iโd love to see that pass because he has like my two favourite highlights ever.

He had one exactly like this on the cavs. It was so weird watching because by the time the ball was touching his hands he was coming down with the ball from over head already and hitting a slashing TT for an east layup. It was so fluid and in one motion I was like what the fuck. This is only the second time Iโve ever seen someone do it and it was him again lol.

Neither of those passes come close to what LeBron did today.
The one by Jokic was simply lobbed high after he saw his teammate with a clear two steps ahead of his defender. He got the rebound, surveyed the play and then tossed a nice an easy pass on point.
The one by Bird played out even slower. He got the rebound, turned towards the court, bounced the ball, then threw the lob pass to a wide open teammate. Nice, but not as special as the one in the OP.
The one LeBron threw today stands out because IN ONE MOTION he caught the rebound with his left hand and threw a bullet down court right into the hands of his teammate who had two defenders around him!
Damn homie no reason to be rude, of course I know what an outlet pass is. I was just saying this particular pass was more impressive than any Iโve seen. Thanks for actually sending links, though I still stand by this being one of the best passes Iโve ever seen. That Jokic one is very similar though, incredible what he can do at his size.

How can you hate his style of play? He does iso incredibly well, step back threes, drives to the hoop, pick and roll, all time assist highlights, blocks, lobs, dunks, midrange like he literally does it all and mixes it up - if you donโt like his play style you donโt like basketball.
Tbf though he was a bit boring in the 15/16 finals against the fast warriors because he intentionally went heavy iso and post up, but only because thatโs what he needed to do to gain an advantage against them

The amount LeBron accomplishes in a 4 foot radius with minimal effort is astonishing. Heโs guarding the corner 3 from 6+ feet away. He rotates down and cuts off a drive forcing a pass. Brushes the Beard off his toes. Pivots for an off hand, one handed rebound; and in one fluid motion he Mike Vickโs it to a streaking outlet for a beautiful transition layup. Sublime
I was watching the Houston broadcast of this and those guys were just complaining about all the calls LeBron gets and didn't even notice this amazing pass.
Somehow, Lebrons prime will extend beyond jokics and he'll be competing with the next generation of Allstars.

Being in the league for 18yrs has to help his play making abilities, he has seen everything in every scenario, he knows the defense isnโt ready and snaps like a whip, a lot of his plays these days are off the cuff and it seems to conserve his energy as well.
Like I said itโs a great pass and I have respect for Lebron (and have him in my fantasy) but I see a lot of nephews in here acting like Lebron invented a new pass when he did this. Jokic passes are almost always accurate but Iโll grant you that Lebron did this one super fast and it made this pass smooth. Props to a respectful reply from a Lakers fan, we donโt always get those.
Go frame by frame. LeBron decided to make that more-than-half-court pass while KCP was still on the back 3pt line. His BBIQ is just...heโs a supercomputer.

That was a pissed off pass from Lebron. The play before Harden tangled his arm, which was obviously an offensive foul on Harden, but called it against Lebron. You can sense the anger in his pass from the previous play.
It's crazy to think that Lebron James will go down as one of the greatest passers, scorers, and even rebounders to ever play basketball. A lot of people put blemishes on his record because of the Mavericks, but nobody ever talks about how that same team beat the defending lakers or the thunder who made the finals the following year
Jordan never had these kinds of highlights. Itโs so laughable that people think Jordan was even close to Lebronโs abilities. Yes, he was a fiercer competitor but Lebron is a god. Jordan was just a talented, hard working player.

Not palming it does make it a better pass because it emphasises his awareness of everything that is going on. If he'd had to set himself, pause or anything like that it would be much less impressive.

There are quite a few old athletes that are getting it done still, but there aren't really any that are still making you go WOW. He is still making plays that amaze you regardless of age. The LBJ hate is only going to get worse as he continues eliminating Western teams from the playoffs. That's why I hate Tom Brady!
Middleton is definitely likely, heโs always been a short-term strategy. and too variable depending on the refs for our inability to make shots/defensive stops.
Usually when you go back and watch these Lebron passes you can find the moment before the pass where he realizes the guy is where he is or is starting to go where he goes to know the throw it without looking. But on this one... I cannot find the moment where Lebron is looking after KCP starts running. This is truly insane.
Of all time, LeBron is the least family-friendly superstar smh. It's not only that he comes on and slams, but he really welcomes you to the jam. Love the irony of the rocket announcers moaning about ab calls while they have hardening.

Lebron is underrated at doing flashy ass basketball when his team is up big. It's very similar to how the 2016 warriors when curry is hot just cant miss and shoot everywhere.
Whats insane is that LeBron averages 27-7-7 on very effecient shooting. He's one of the best defenders ever at Forward. But his greatest skill is passing. He's a top 5 passer ever.

I was curious when KCP left the basket to get in position for that pass...
He was still within the 3 point line (although accelerating out like a rocket) at 9 seconds into the clip, when Lebron's hand touched the ball and they made eye contact.
He takes the shot on the opposing basket 3 seconds later at 12, as best I can tell.

That was the beauty of Bush's game. I always felt he was the calm collected one that kept them grounded, and he almost always came through with a key free throw or a big defensive stop when it mattered.

I think most leftys end up mixed. I am left handed too and shoot/swing/throw right handed but I'm also left eye dominant so I shoot a gun, play pool, bowl left handed.
Best of all though, due to lack of availability of lefty scissors in school growing up I can use scissors with both hands. Works well for cutting around things since I can switch hands.

I'm all over the place too. I write with my right, shoot and throw with my right. Hockey , baseball , golf use my left. As a collegiate soccer player I can say a lot of the reason I got as far as I did was being dominant with both feet, which was luck of the draw being born semi-ambidextrous I suppose.

I disagree with your chances, but I have a legitimate chance. I, at 5'8, have a true chance of beating Lebron for a few reasons so let me explain. This slightly below average height is the optimum build because it allows me to do things on the court he hasn't seen. I can run through his legs for one, and my shorter strides will make me appear so much slower than him that he will be more tempted to go for steals, and then I'll use my awkwardly long arms to rip a crossover that will take this old man's ankles clean out. It's really a matter of science more than anything else.

Uhhh. I think heโs better than a lot of people. This is one of those plays where you realize he has perfected the art of utilizing his own talents and those of his teammates in the most efficient way possible. He barely even moved that entire play. Just sat there, let the ball come to him, then lobbed it cross court to KCP. Let the other guys do all the running, then pulled out the one move no one else can touch - the full court pass

I can't find a source for it, but IIRC a childhood coach convinced him to perform daily tasks with his left hand to develop fine motor skills and he just never stopped. He's also said that he thinks he shoots right handed because he learned by imitating his favorite players, so he might be naturally ambidextrous.

Andrew Bynum is one of those great basketball what-if's for me. I know he was plagued by injury, but he took the Shaq approach of only rehabbing on Company time and refusing to do any sort of strength training to build up his legs and knees when he had access to the best rehabilitation specialists in the world.
Then you get reports of him just shooting the ball every time he touched it no matter where he was standing during practice in Cleveland and life long friends and high-school teammates reporting that he never truly wanted to play basketball or cares about it. He was just so talented that it would have been foolish not to play. It seems like it eventually kicked in that his free ride wouldn't last forever because he started trying to get back into the NBA a couple of years ago and seems like every team black listed him like they did AI when he tried to come back.

I dont see anything all time or even nearly highlight worthy on there but holy crap are those the distances that all those distance stats uses on 3pt attempts? I always had a feeling they were dramatized but thats like over 3 ft off on each shot. A regular top of the key 3 is listed as a 27' shot and a slightly off key 3 is listed as 26'. The arc is 23'9 so none of those should be over 24 if we are talking about release point like i had always hoped but even plant foot is like 24'6 max on those shots.

While (IMHO) those three surpass James, there are a bunch of other people (like Dominique Wilkins for example) who are easily on par with James' level of dunking.

Neither of those passes come close to what LeBron did today.
The one by Jokic was simply lobbed high after he saw his teammate with a clear two steps ahead of his defender. He got the rebound, surveyed the play and then tossed a nice an easy pass on point.
The one by Bird played out even slower. He got the rebound, turned towards the court, bounced the ball, then threw the lob pass to a wide open teammate. Nice, but not as special as the one in the OP.
The one LeBron threw today stands out because IN ONE MOTION he caught the rebound with his left hand and threw a bullet down court right into the hands of his teammate who had two defenders around him!
All of that with his off hand!

How can you hate his style of play? He does iso incredibly well, step back threes, drives to the hoop, pick and roll, all time assist highlights, blocks, lobs, dunks, midrange like he literally does it all and mixes it up - if you donโt like his play style you donโt like basketball.
Tbf though he was a bit boring in the 15/16 finals against the fast warriors because he intentionally went heavy iso and post up, but only because thatโs what he needed to do to gain an advantage against them

A lot of people put blemishes on his record because of the Mavericks, but nobody ever talks about how that same team beat the defending lakers or the thunder who made the finals the following year

What? They ran a pick and pop to start off with, that isnโt iso. Harden tries to go behind the back to wood, it gets deflected so he doesnโt shoot the three. At this point they do stop moving, up there isnโt much time on the shot clock so itโs probably going to need to be iso either way.
