Plot
Po reunites with his biological father and hearthstones with him to a secret sanctuary of pandas, Pandaria. To his suprise he finds out that the whole village is full of causals. To make matters worse, an evil ancient spirit called Kai the Yaungol begins terrorizing Azeroth and stealing the loots of defeated Brewmasters. Now, against the odds, Po becomes a monk class-trainer and needs to prepare a village of clumsy, fun-loving pandas for the ultimative 40 man raid, The Revenge of Kai.

The hesitation in this thread so far is HERESY! I fucking LOVE the Kung FU Panda movies, and this looks like more of the same. It's a pretty poorly-cut trailer, but the content looks like it's gonna be just like the last two.
The action sequences in the KFP movies are the best animation has to offer, the voice acting is always great, and now we've got Bryan Cranston, JK Simmons, and a finale which I can only assume will be an army of panda warriors kicking some ass. I'm excited. If you're not excited, well no need to rain on my panda parade.

Ice Age films and How to Train Your Dragon are fantastic imo. Easily my favourite animated films. Even got a big sid the sloth tattooed on my leg.I just love the way they capture every characters personality in how they look so well. Disney does a great job of explaining characters and stories, but I feel Dreamworks are absolute masters and just conveying characters through the character, if you catch my drift. And the little lines in it kill me.Absolute favourite is sid explaining to his nan "and then we fought some dinosaurs, it didn't make sense but it sure was fun!". as a kind of service to weird parents that weren't impressed with how unrealistic portraying dinosaurs was.Goof'd. thought Ice Age was under Dreamworks but it was the whole fox deal that threw me off. Still, great films.
HTTYD is unbelievably well animated.

The marketing for these movies has always focused on the goofy aspects. Hell, what would someone expect out of a movie called Kung-Fu Panda? I remember just checking out the first one in theaters for a few cheap laughs, and being blown away at how much fun it was, how well the action scenes were done, and just how much heart was in the movie. It easily shot up to my favorite Dreamworks movie (and I'm still undecided if it or "How to Train Your Dragon" top my list).

It should still be in theaters for the public holiday for Chinese New Year. Also, KFP3 isn't just dubbed into Chinese: it's the first movie in which DWA actually redid the animation to fit the Chinese dialog.

Kaufman's involvement with KFP2 was minimal and hushed and secretive and uncredited. He also was not included in the first one, which was great and by the same writers as the third. I don't see why placing Chalie Kaufman (great a writer as he is) on this pedestal for exactly why KFP2 was successful is ignoring all the other talent working on it and working on KFP3 as well.

You have a point, but it is true that traditionally January was treated as a dumping ground. A lot of the better films that went wide in January were limited in December, so I wouldn't count those as January films.
But, for at least the last half-decade, there have been SO many movies released each year that dumping grounds are almost non-existent now. This September was packed, both with potential blockbusters (Hotel Transylvania 2, Black Mass, Maze Runner 2, The Intern) and smaller, quality films (Sicario, Goodnight Mommy, 99 Homes), and next year looks to give us quality almost every weekend.
So let's not act like "January = shit" was never true, because it was. For years. But the landscape has definitely shifted away from that, as much as to not be able to write off a film based only on its release date.

I'm so excited. I think this movie will be just as fun and light hearted as the last two. The KFP movies never fail to have immense amount of heart in them and the studio works really well with the concept. I will be seeing this in theaters

I think it just may be the trailer focusing more on the physical comedy side of things and also highlighting the jokes. It really doesn't focus on the meat of the story, other than the villain destroying stuff.

I love the first two Kung Fu Panda films so I have a feeling the third will be great. Jennifer Yuh did a great job with Kung Fu Panda 2 but I can see why another director would be necessary to help finish the film with such a tight schedule. I'm glad Carloni worked on the other two Kung Fu Pandas but I didn't find How To Train Your Dragon 2's story to be that strong. No offense to the guy though.He does some great work.

I used to think Dreamworks was just a hack Pixar but I'd be lying if they don't have quite a few great titles at this point. Pixar and Dreamworks are certainly different and in all honesty I find the Dreamworks movies to be more 'fun'. Whatever that means.

A very important person from Dreamworks told us that they are making all of their future films very goofy because they believe that How to Train Your Dragon 2 was unsuccessful because it was "serious".

Sweet, I'm hoping for an East meets West KFP. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for a Robin Hood-esque Fox, maybe a horse General, an Otter Sea-Captain who is missing an eye, a Germanic Bear in steel armor equipped with a halberd, a French Swan as the femme fatale, and the list goes on!
(I might have become a little carried away but still the notion of East meets West is certainly a hope of mine)

Ok, I do remember going to the first with low expectations because I was hating on Jack Black at the time, but I ended up really enjoying the film I think with this I was going with the rule of thumb with Shrek 3, Shrek 1 and 2 I liked but I remember hating the 3rd film
