To be fair, most Redditers don't ever click on links, they just go to the comments and pretend to know everything. Also, what did you expect it to link to? A screenshot wouldn't have given any more insight than the title, if you really wanted to read the article a link to it is what you'd want...

I didn't click it, but that's more to do with me not wanting to support confirmed clickbait than anything else. I don't "really want to read the article", but I wouldn't mind being able to get first-hand knowledge of exactly how bad it is without giving them hits. A screenshot or archive link would give that!
I guess really though, from OP's perspective, not mine, it should be more of a matter of principle. If you think something is click-bait, why give them hits?
I do agree with the principle of not supporting clickbait, especially when it's this shitty. I just decided not to click the link for that reason. I assume if it didn't link to the article, people would go look for it anyway.
I didn't click to go to the article either, but mostly because OP's title pretty much covers everything that needed to be in that article.

Well if he is royalty, you would expect the people of the nation address them with the proper formalities. He is a prince after all , need to be formal otherwise it would be rude unless he specifically asked to be addressed as only George
Was just a uninteresting article

The royals generally use Mountbatten-Windsor when they need a surname. He could use Cambridge though; Prince Harry goes by 'Harry Wales' in the military.

That's essentially what I was thinking. I think William went with Windsor in the military?
I have just googled it, and George and Charlotte, are Prince and Princess of Cambridge, but it doesn't say what they would have as a surname, so it could be Windsor, Mountbatten-Windsor, Wales or Cambridge.

The 2-year-old royal is known simply as "George" among his classmates and teachers, a royal source confirms.
wait.. hes 2? his friends are lucky if they know 100 words and can put 3 of them together all at once. half of them probably cant even say george. most have been speaking for less than 6 months. They dont even know what a nickname is, much less have the ability to come up with one.
JarasM ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 12:45:32 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
"Royal source"? They have a snitch in the royal family?
Bro I've got a toddler. Started talking...I don't know, 18 months? Things like "daddy."
Last week he busted out the ABCs IN FULL. And not because he memorized the whole song. No one even taught him the full song - we just teach him individual letters here and there.
He knows my name, "Dad," "Daddy,", AND MY NAME. And same for my wife. And all his friend's names at preschool. I'm teaching that kid GUITAR right now. He knows the notes of all the open strings. AND on the strings on the ukelele. And when I tune to drop D? That too.
Or how about the difference between left and right? Might be easy to memorize, but the first time I asked my kid to "okay point to dad's left ear now", he actually pointed to my left ear, and not my right ear, which would have made sense to me because in a mirror, it's the same side that he's been learning is his own left side.
Or singular vs. plural? He knows that too - things like "eye" vs. "eyes," all the way to what-would-seem hard to understand things like "feet" vs. "foot" and "die" vs. "dice."
Kids learn shit FAST. Too fast in fact. The rate at which they pick up learning things, is faster than the rate at which parents are capable of starting to filter what they say in order for the bad things to not stick. In the grocery store the other day someone in our aisle said "fuck sake" after dropping a box of crackers. After hearing it once, it's now in his vocabulary arsenal forever - even busting it out in front of grandma last night. So...that was fun to explain.
Sure, maybe some 2 year olds only know 100 words. You'd be surprised man.
powercow ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 11:18:35 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
a bit of hyperbole and of course not all 2 year olds are exactly 24 months but points well taken. Still i would be surprised if many 2 year olds already had a well seated nickname given by friends.
I agree with you. But I think his hyperbole (while possibly a little embellished - what parent doesn't embellish a little) was actually not that far-fetched. I just read the summary of a study done on the average two to three year old's vocabulary, and while it was previously believed children only knew/could say roughly one to two hundred words or something like that, the people who did this study now believe it's more likely that toddlers know, understand, and are capable of saying wayyy more than that.
If someone can tell me how to link from mobile, I can post the source one I find it again. It was pretty interesting.
Also, to add my own personal experience which in no way represents every child: my son is two and a half. He knows his full alphabet, can count to five, (and not just because he memorized the numbers, if you show him there items he'll tell you there are three), has a vocabulary of well over eight hundred words (I thought he was speech delayed for some reason so I started writing them down religiously; once he reached about 750 I lost track and gave up). He can put together four and five word sentences. In general, he's considered advanced for his age.
But at the end of the day, it could mean absolutely nothing. That's what I think a lot of parents of young, bright kids don't realize - kids go through rapid periods of growth and then plateau, over and over. The slow kid in daycare could end up being brilliant; the first to learn to read may never really learn anything beyond that. I think we should all just encourage our children to have a love of knowledge and a thirst for information, and provide them with as many opportunities as possible to pick up new info/skills.
I don't think it's possible or fair in most cases to say that a child is a "genius" until they're much older. It's fun to brag about your kids :) but too many parents seem to forget that every kid develops differently and at their own pace, and your brilliant child today may just be average, but they happened to cram a lot of learning into a shorter-than-average timeframe.
Not sure why I replied this to you specifically...I don't disagree with your comment at all. I suppose I just wanted to add a few interesting points which could theoretically give that other guy's story a little realism. I probably should have replied to the guy you replied to instead; sorry. Also sorry for the wall of text. I tend to get really excited about this topic and it doesn't seem to come up that much :)

This is true clickbait. I was a little wary when I saw the title here because most people use "clickbait" as another way of saying "I don't like this." This, however, is true clickbait because it intentionally hides the lede from the reader. That's the bait. Without a hidden lede, there is no bait, so that makes it frustrating to see merely misleading headlines so frequently referred to as clickbait.
Thanks, I actually planned on doing it but it seems just weird to me.
Zephs ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 12:46:36 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Am I the only one bothered that they're taking the career aspirations of a two-year old seriously? Half of kids that age will say they want to be what their parent is when they grow up. The other half will say an animal.
Not that people care, because saying the article is by Yahoo makes for a better story, but the original article was actually written by People.com you can read it - with its clickbait headline - here. Yahoo licenses content from other sources, it always has done.
Ceejae ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 08:14:45 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
The point of the article is that he is referred to as 'George' instead of 'Prince George', which is vaguely significant.
It still qualifies as click-bait, but it is nowhere near as ridiculous as OP would have you believe with his title (and I would like to point out the irony in this).
Sometimes I have a hard time why Yahoo stock price is doing so poorly then I visit their website. Then I read on what Meyers have accomplished. Then I wonder why this company is still here.
[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 12:09:50 on February 18, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Yes, but you only fall for it if you are the sort of person who's interested in what is basically the prototypical clickbait - royal family news. Which statistically means that you're a middle-aged woman.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 68%. (I'm a bot)
Prince George, who is kicking off his sixth week of preschool at Westacre Montessori in Norfolk, near his family's country home, leaves his title at the classroom door when he hangs up his coat each day.
The name will likely be written on his coat-and-backpack peg, and his teachers will write it for him on his artwork, says Louise Livingston, who is director of training at the Maria Montessori Institute, where many of the teachers at George's school have studied.
"The process of settling in is important in all nursery schools, but in a Montessori environment it is particularly so because children need to be helped to adjust to the freedom of choice that will be offered to them," says Livingston.
I think the point is to do with the title being excluded. Normally we would have to call him Prince George or something like Your Royal Highness. This could make for an interesting teacher/student relationship. Instead the formalities have been dispensed with and he is simply called George.
A Prince is being treated an a equal in the classroom, a story that is somewhat news worthy as this is something that may not have happened before.

Control, Shift, and Print Screen. Save to MS Paint, upload to Imgur, post Imgur link here. That's a very simple way to do it.
EDIT: And like brown_paper_bag just said, you don't have to even save to MS paint. Just CTRL V after you press upload.

The royals generally use Mountbatten-Windsor when they need a surname. He could use Cambridge though; Prince Harry goes by 'Harry Wales' in the military.
GV18 ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:48:03 on February 13, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
That's essentially what I was thinking. I think William went with Windsor in the military?
I have just googled it, and George and Charlotte, are Prince and Princess of Cambridge, but it doesn't say what they would have as a surname, so it could be Windsor, Mountbatten-Windsor, Wales or Cambridge.

ProfWhite ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 06:47:43 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Opium_Poppy ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 19:18:54 on February 12, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Yes, but you only fall for it if you are the sort of person who's interested in what is basically the prototypical clickbait - royal family news. Which statistically means that you're a middle-aged woman.

This isn't even click bait. It says what he is called and isn't misleading at all.
