That's a different David Kraft, that's why. The Myra from the OP was born in 1942 and was married in 1963. The David Kraft you linked to was born in 1952 - so unless you're suggesting that he was born 11 years before his parents were married when his mother was only 10, it's got to be a different guy.
Also, someone edited Myra's page to list her son as David_irl. Nice.
At least they are noteworthy philanthropists. The Kraft family has given hundreds of millions of dollars to charity and Robert Kraft is a well loved man in Boston.
I know 3 trust fund babies from my college days. One is a social worker, one is a middle school teacher, and the third is a heroin addict.
Growing up with money can spoil you or your kids rotten, but it doesn't have to.
The first two came from stable families and their high school years were similar to most people. Both had to get jobs at 15, both started as bus boys and worked in various restaurants/hotels throughout high school. For them college was paid for so they saw it as their job to do well. They had this crazy thing called work ethic. I had to help the third one write a cover letter for the first time in his life when we were 20. Not for a real job or anything, for an assignment.
I've heard stories of rich kids that get huge allowances, which they don't need, and then just end up using the money to buy drugs because they can.

Wouldn't work with me, I don't know where to get drugs even if I had the money to have them and I don't have any friends to point me in the right direction. I have no job, no car, I don't know anyone in this city, I spend all my days going to soul crushing interviews and writing politely interested emails about why I never hear back from jobs. I spend my nights distracting myself with Reddit because I can't even afford to go to the bar for a couple of beers. I keep up a brave face for my parents but I really feel like I'm getting to the end of my rope.

Which is weird, because the freeloading trust fund kids I know are women. If they are guys, they usually have some sort of job. If they're women, top job is models. I'm not sure how accurate of a picture that is, though. Maybe I just haven't noticed the men as much.
At age 22, looking at the people I grew up with this describes the situation well.
The "Jobs" the guys have are usually either set up through a family friend, or they are the ceo's of companies that their parents fund.
The girls mainly model and/or blog about their lavish lifestyles filled with expensive items/clothes, travel, and beautiful rich people.
This is not to say there are not exceptions of course. There are several who study at the moment, some at top tier schools that they studied hard to get in to, some at international schools their parents could afford them a place in.
The ones blogging are generally those who aren't too academically gifted. But I mean if you actually do have the looks to pull it off, why not blog or model? One of the girls currently modelling in New York is brilliant, and she decided that she would seize the opportunity and live the model dream life for a few years before she comes back to study medicin/biology.
I'm with you on it. I was expecting this Sabrina to do something more "witchy" until the trailer ended (Sometimes there are weird adaptations, one can never be too sure).
Reminds me of a friend. His sister went to Harvard on a scholarship and is the obvious pride of the family. He went on to go to a Cal State and says that his parents don't even mention him when people ask his parents about him and his sister.
I know that feel. Two older sisters. One graduated with honors from Emory and was teacher of the year for her county in Atlanta, is happily married, and is expecting her first child soon. One graduated sumae cum laude from Stanford, worked for a joint effort between NASA and the army on stealth rotorcraft, and now is working for one of the most prestigious engineering firms in the world making (literally) $100,000 a year (I know because I saw the email chain essentially saying, "take your $80,000 annual salary and shove it-- I want $100K" and the company essentially replying, "yeah, we can dig it.")
I graduated late from a relatively obscure engineering school that's only recognized in the Midwest. I hit shit with hammers. My sister is a teacher, but thanks to the hedge fund her highly successful husband manages, I ultimately have the lowest income out of my family. I'm excited by the prospect of moving to Indianapolis because of how many more people there will be to hopefully meet. This is how boring I am become.

If it makes you feel any better, "literally 100k" isn't much at all in the grand scheme of things, even in the poorest counties in the US. Hell, I make $97k on wall street, and that's without any cum laude or brand name NASA ties. Don't get me wrong, good on your sister...but all things considered you are FAR from the "black sheep" of your family.
Well, it's %50 more than I make in a city where cost of living is maybe 15% more than where I live. Plus, there's a reeeeaaaaaally big difference between, "we need you to work on this satellite that will go into outer space, Saith_Cassus's sister!" and "our trash compactor is down! We need you to crawl through other people's garbage to replace some parts on it, Saith_Cassus!"
Working on finding the new job now, one where I don't work as much overtime, I'm in a nicer city, and I'm not shat on as much as I am right now at work. That being said, its really impossible not to compare myself to my sisters. Especially when both are thoroughly convinced that I'm at that level of super smart where personality will be the deciding factor in whether or not I get a job rather than skill set.

it's not just a huge advantage. it's not like they are competing with everyone else. they're starting at the finishing line with never ever having to deal with normal every day stress.
It's not even about actually having money. It's knowing what to do with it. The vast majority of poor people are taught from birth that money is used to buy stuff. At least middle class people are taught to save money. Rich people are taught that money is to be used to make more money.
Also, the consequences of failure are far less. A failed business means a poor person files for bankruptcy. Rich people can just figure out what they've learned from the failure and try again. It's like two trapeze artists trying to master a triple somersault, except one is practicing without a net.
This. I come from a fairly wealthy background, and I went to a good private school, went to nice places on holiday, went to India to do charity work and I'll be going to one of the best universities in the world as an international student. My parents' wealth is basically setting me up, when I'm no smarter or hard working than most people (in fact, I'm really lazy). It's terrible, really.

So what are "poor" people complaining about then? I fully understand that the "under-privileged" face an up-hill battle, but this rhetoric about how the "rich are holding me back" is fucking absurd. Get good grades in school. Go to college. Get a degree in not-underwater basket weaving. Get job. Work hard. Make more money. Save money. Use said money to invest and make more money. The real issue is that there are a ton of parents out there who don't give two-shits about their kid getting good grades in school. If parents don't hold themselves accountable for ensuring their child does his/her school work, the kid is really fighting an uphill battle. I went to HS with too many people whose parents were pieces of fucking shit. I'd say less than 5% of those kids have made something of their lives. The rest became teenage parents and I'd be willing to bet their children are equally fucked. It's easy to look outward to find the source of your problems when the answer lies solely with the individual...
Yes, being born in a first world country does mean non-rich in the US are privileged, but to pretend that someone born in a poor/middle class household doesn't have to work much harder than a born-rich person to simply survive is ridiculous. Is your trust fund so large you can't see this?

I don't really care that much about social issues, honestly. I just don't think they're that important. I think issues like universal healthcare and income inequality affect way more people than legal weed. I wouldn't oppose legalizing weed, but it's just not a big deal to me. Of course it follows that the former issues are way harder to accomplish because the "establishment" has a much bigger stake in opposing them.

I know what you mean to an extent, but social issues regarding sexism, racism and homo/transphobia etc. are very important to those effected. Although these inequalities cannot be effectively addressed under capitalism, I think it's a mistake to ignore their significance, and would even alienate a large section of the most vulnerable from the cause that could do them most good.

Well, it all depends on how you define "state". Here's a thread in which the socialist definition is discussed.
To take my best stab at your question, socialism doesn't really need to be enforced in the same way capitalism does. Currently, the state exists to give legitimacy to private property, something which would not exist in socialism. Without the state - and the major downfall of so-called "anarcho-capitalism" - the legitimacy of private property would have to be enforced by private armies, and would effectively see the return of feudalism. Without private property, the state as we know it now would have no function. Of course, a stateless society is late stage communism, and the transition to this would likely require a Workers' State, but this is still different as it would seek to maintain the revolution, as opposed to legitimising systems of oppression. Here is the basis of that theory.
Apologies for the tangents, and I realise there are some short-comings in my answer; the reason for this is that we can never be sure what communism will actually look like. The main point however, is that the workplaces will be democratically run and that production will be needs-based as opposed to based upon the motive of profit, and so doesn't require state enforcement of private ownership of production.
If you're using an internet-connected computer and have such good English skills, you're very likely not one if those 3.5 billion people.

Classical communist class typology doesn't fit well in the 21st century. There are plenty of 'property owning' subsistence farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and India who own a tiny plot of land which yields them enough to scrape by, while there are multi-millionaire labour-selling consultants and brokers on Wall Street. Does it make sense to call the former (petit-)bourgeoise and the latter working class? You probably earn more than 90% of the global population, and it's a bit insulting to pretend your plight is as bad as any of them.

I know 3 trust fund babies from my college days. One is a social worker, one is a middle school teacher, and the third is a heroin addict.
Growing up with money can spoil you or your kids rotten, but it doesn't have to.
The first two came from stable families and their high school years were similar to most people. Both had to get jobs at 15, both started as bus boys and worked in various restaurants/hotels throughout high school. For them college was paid for so they saw it as their job to do well. They had this crazy thing called work ethic. I had to help the third one write a cover letter for the first time in his life when we were 20. Not for a real job or anything, for an assignment.

At age 22, looking at the people I grew up with this describes the situation well.
The "Jobs" the guys have are usually either set up through a family friend, or they are the ceo's of companies that their parents fund.
The girls mainly model and/or blog about their lavish lifestyles filled with expensive items/clothes, travel, and beautiful rich people.
This is not to say there are not exceptions of course. There are several who study at the moment, some at top tier schools that they studied hard to get in to, some at international schools their parents could afford them a place in.
The ones blogging are generally those who aren't too academically gifted. But I mean if you actually do have the looks to pull it off, why not blog or model? One of the girls currently modelling in New York is brilliant, and she decided that she would seize the opportunity and live the model dream life for a few years before she comes back to study medicin/biology.

I know that feel. Two older sisters. One graduated with honors from Emory and was teacher of the year for her county in Atlanta, is happily married, and is expecting her first child soon. One graduated sumae cum laude from Stanford, worked for a joint effort between NASA and the army on stealth rotorcraft, and now is working for one of the most prestigious engineering firms in the world making (literally) $100,000 a year (I know because I saw the email chain essentially saying, "take your $80,000 annual salary and shove it-- I want $100K" and the company essentially replying, "yeah, we can dig it.")
I graduated late from a relatively obscure engineering school that's only recognized in the Midwest. I hit shit with hammers. My sister is a teacher, but thanks to the hedge fund her highly successful husband manages, I ultimately have the lowest income out of my family. I'm excited by the prospect of moving to Indianapolis because of how many more people there will be to hopefully meet. This is how boring I am become.

Well, it's %50 more than I make in a city where cost of living is maybe 15% more than where I live. Plus, there's a reeeeaaaaaally big difference between, "we need you to work on this satellite that will go into outer space, Saith_Cassus's sister!" and "our trash compactor is down! We need you to crawl through other people's garbage to replace some parts on it, Saith_Cassus!"
Working on finding the new job now, one where I don't work as much overtime, I'm in a nicer city, and I'm not shat on as much as I am right now at work. That being said, its really impossible not to compare myself to my sisters. Especially when both are thoroughly convinced that I'm at that level of super smart where personality will be the deciding factor in whether or not I get a job rather than skill set.

It's not even about actually having money. It's knowing what to do with it. The vast majority of poor people are taught from birth that money is used to buy stuff. At least middle class people are taught to save money. Rich people are taught that money is to be used to make more money.
Also, the consequences of failure are far less. A failed business means a poor person files for bankruptcy. Rich people can just figure out what they've learned from the failure and try again. It's like two trapeze artists trying to master a triple somersault, except one is practicing without a net.

Get good grades in school. Go to college. Get a degree in not-underwater basket weaving. Get job. Work hard. Make more money. Save money. Use said money to invest and make more money. The real issue is that there are a ton of parents out there who don't give two-shits about their kid getting good grades in school. If parents don't hold themselves accountable for ensuring their child does his/her school work, the kid is really fighting an uphill battle. I went to HS with too many people whose parents were pieces of fucking shit. I'd say less than 5% of those kids have made something of their lives. The rest became teenage parents and I'd be willing to bet their children are equally fucked. It's easy to look outward to find the source of your problems when the answer lies solely with the individual...

I don't really care that much about social issues, honestly. I just don't think they're that important. I think issues like universal healthcare and income inequality affect way more people than legal weed. I wouldn't oppose legalizing weed, but it's just not a big deal to me. I know what you mean to an extent, but social issues regarding sexism, racism and homo/transphobia etc. are very important to those effected. Although these inequalities cannot be effectively addressed under capitalism, I think it's a mistake to ignore their significance, and would even alienate a large section of the most vulnerable from the cause that could do them most good.

Well, it all depends on how you define "state". Here's a thread in which the socialist definition is discussed.
To take my best stab at your question, socialism doesn't really need to be enforced in the same way capitalism does. Currently, the state exists to give legitimacy to private property, something which would not exist in socialism. Without the state - and the major downfall of so-called "anarcho-capitalism" - the legitimacy of private property would have to be enforced by private armies, and would effectively see the return of feudalism. Without private property, the state as we know it now would have no function. Of course, a stateless society is late stage communism, and the transition to this would likely require a Workers' State, but this is still different as it would seek to maintain the revolution, as opposed to legitimising systems of oppression. Here is the basis of that theory.
Apologies for the tangents, and I realise there are some short-comings in my answer; the reason for this is that we can never be sure what communism will actually look like. The main point however, is that the workplaces will be democratically run and that production will be needs-based as opposed to based upon the motive of profit, and so doesn't require state enforcement of private ownership of production.
