No way! I have the hottest/sweatiness hands on earth so fingerless gloves are perfect for me. Plus they let me actually still use my hands to drive/turn keys/etc.

I have fingerless gloves with a removable cap, so they can still keep my fingers warm. I don't know why I got them, really. The prospect of being able to use my hands looked good, but I still barely use them.

They're not a big deal when you're starting out, and don't even need gloves. But most bars, even dumbell handles are extremely jagged and rough. Not a problem when you're curling 40 pounds or benching 135. But when you're curling 80+ and benching 200+ (or doing anything else with heavy weights) and you're swinging that shit around for the last few reps to failure, it will fuck up your hands.
And if you're hitting the gym 5+ days a week, every week, those things will not only never heal, but will get significantly worse. So gloves are a necessity to protect your hands.

That is just straight wrong. You realize exposure to pressure(ie: heavy weight) causes calluses also right? It isn't just friction. Gloves won't solve your problem; they just fuck with your grip and are a gimmick. You will be hard pressed to find any person who lifts a significant amount of weight who doesn't have calluses. Also, if your calluses are ripping open you are gripping the bar wrong.
Yeah that's wrong.... My callouses heal within a week. If you're hurting your hands that badly it's because you're holding the bar wrong or using bad form

Those wrist straps do the same thing, and he doesn't need it if he's doing a few workouts. It's the 1+ hour a day, 5+ days a week that really starts screwing with your hands.

Swinging that shit around implies you're going to failure, not stopping after you hit your rep limit or you're feeling tired. I've been hitting the gym for over 15 years and everyone I know who actually takes it seriously ends up picking up the gloves sooner or later.
In the military a few guys like using fingerless gloves because it doesn't interfere with trigger pull and shit, although if you're tacticool like my superior self you'd already have special edition Oakley gloves with special grip on the index finger. Also, since I was a Delta SEAL I know most EOD guys use fingerless gloves for all that finesse wire manipulation, but I wouldn't know about that gay shit since I was a door gunner.

Haha, well yeah. I was referring to wearing them in public. I have some hunting mittens that fold back to fingerless gloves so I can operate the trigger. But I don't wear them out. Same goes for weight lifting gloves. They serve a purpose and are usually kept to that area (gym or when using firearms)
Or if you have a pair of gloves long enough they just turn into this floppy partially fingerless monstrosity. I bet most of these guys don't even gun, bro.

I use them when working on my car in the winter, I don't have a garage so I need something warm but with full gloves on sockets are a pain in the ass to pick up/use.
When I was in the Air Force we were issued Mechanix those gloves are the shit. Though working on airplanes there is slightly more room than a car, depending on what I was changing/fixing.

Was at gamestop. I wanted to order on amazon but the n3ds was like 500$ at the time. I suppose they were scalpers since Amazon had something going on with Nintendo. Anyway, just one kid, his mom was trying to get him to hold the spot in line, while she browsed. She was silently scolding him for not holding it down. But I remembered similar attempts at grocery stores, so I wasn't having it. It's pathetic but I really was embarrassed being there and buying a nintendo product.

The difference - to me at least - is that Pokemon is much more based on level design or story while Call of Duty is much more based on gameplay. Why would you buy the same game every year if its main focus is exactly the same as the previous year? Pokemon has enough options for team type that it gives the games lots of replayability while everyone in Call of Duty will end up using the same general weapons as the previous game. That's just my point of view. They're two very different games.

I think it's more like Madden. It's pretty much the same game every time, but you buy it to get the new roster updates and maybe a few new mechanics. As long as they don't mess anything up too bad, people will love it, and that's fine.
My problem with this comparison is that Pokemon is released once every handheld generation, if you're going by the main games. Wouldn't that be about every 3-5 years? That's not that bad. The spin off games aren't as popular, and AFAIK released even slower than the main games.
Also, CoD isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's released every year, yeah, but there's a continuing story and the new maps and guns make up for the yearly release.
Edit just found out that maybe the author was referring to the fact that they release two games together, which I think everybody knows is a cash grab

GBC had 3 main series pokemon games, GBA had 3 as well, DS had 5, and 3ds has 2 so far.

Well, why does the multiplayer community move on? At least in Pokemon, each new game does add depth to the meta even if new pokemon aren't added. I don't see the meta changing in shooters like Call of Duty.

I agree with that. Buying two pokemon games from the same generation is worse than buying an annually rereleased game. However it's a fairly common comparison for people to make that Pokemon is the same every year (we're not even getting a main series release this year anyway).
As someone who was a big CoD player until the last installment, there are reasons to get them. For starters, yes, its an annual release, but its different companies(Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and now Sledgehammer). So although they all have the same general game play, the different companies are gonna do things slightly different. The way it feels, and the mechanics are usually different from one to the next. Some people have sort of a preferred one, and tend to focus on that companies games more than the others. I personally preferred Infinity Ward, and didnt care much for the last few Treyarch games, so I didnt buy them. This means I essentially only needed to buy a new game every two years. Thats really not all that bad in the long run.
But on top of that, you do have a single player campaign that some people care about. The stories are actually pretty good sometimes. I really loved the single player campaign for Ghost and beat it three times.
As for the multiplayer, I know people say its just a rehashed version, and to an extent thats true, but there are usually things about each one that people like better than the next. The physics are usually at least slightly different, for starters. Some even more so. Block Ops to Black ops 2 felt really different. Especially with the knifing. I felt it was completely broken in BO2. One of the things I hated about Modern Warfare 2&3 was some of the techniques people were using, such as quick scoping. Although still possible in Ghost, it is a little harder, so its not quite as big of a problem.
And then you add things like difference in class systems, some game mods change(MW3 had a 2v2 and a 3v3 game mode I played all the time, but they havent dont it again), differences in the way you set up your classes, as well as some other aspects of the game, and for some its completely worth buying a new game for.
Meanwhile, I stopped buying Pokemon games for the same reason you dont buy CoD games. To me it personally just felt like the same thing. There are differences, especially with the stories, graphics, some new mechanics, etc, but I personally just couldnt get into it after awhile. When it comes down to it, its all just personal preference. For some the little changes are worth buying a new game, for others its not enough and feels like the same thing.
That's fair enough. What I don't understand is the people who get all excited for a new game when all they do is just do online matchmaking and get their stats as high as possible - to me, that would be like if I bought a Pokemon game just to do online matches when I already own a game that does the exact same thing.
Funny thing is, I actually like Call of Duty, but I always disappoint my friends when I tell them that I like it for the campaign; I've never really cared for competitive multiplayer games in general. I got hooked when I played through Call of Duty 2 on Veteran difficulty; it was a rush surviving the final mission.
With that in mind, I know full well that if I'm only playing the campaign that I'm missing maybe 50% of the game's total value, so I always wait a few months/years before playing one; I'd still never preorder.
Because of the mystery aspect and grand twist near the end I think Black Ops had the best campaign

Campaigns kicked ass. The Enemy At the Gates style mission in World at War made that game my favorite. Plus the dismemberment made the game far more gruesome, which really helped with the immersion. Campaigns and Zombies made the Treyarch titles so much better than the Infinity Ward titles.
I remember being a freshman, playing zombies and spec ops with my buddy who lived in another state over summer break. So far I can say that time in my life was the best so far. Without Call Of Duty I would have most likely lost touch with him.

I've always played all aspects of Call of Duty and have enjoyed most of them, but how can you only play it for the campaign? It's $60 for maybe 2 hours of gameplay.
"2 hours of gameplay" is an exaggeration. Crank the difficulty to Veteran. World at War took me a couple of weeks in 1 hour segments.
Plus, as I said, I never buy at release price, because I know I'm missing out on whatever valuation is assigned to the multiplayer aspect. When I see it on for $30-$35 (or less) I feel okay buying it.
That just makes it tedious though. The scripting is so heavy, that it's less about skill and more about guessing where to stand and when to trigger progression. Playing smart isn't an option.
I haven't tried some of be newer ones (Black Ops II, Advanced Warfare, et al) but yeah, I noticed a tendency toward heavier scripting in the newer ones that I have played. I got into the series right around CoD2 (world war 2, not modern warfare) and it was surprisingly open-ended per situation, aside from a few very linear levels. For the most part, I was free to define my own tactics to complete a level: hide over there, shoot at those guys, use a sniper rifle to clear the level; while other times I might go a completely different path and use grenade tactics the whole time. Adding veteran difficulty to this – in which maybe two bullets could kill you – every engagement becomes something of a puzzle: "If I move out from behind these sandbags, the guy on the right will snipe me. If I pop my head up, maybe I can snipe the machine gunner on the left and then get an opening to grenade the right guy." I really enjoy the challenge of "impossible" situations, where I have ten enemies shooting at me, my only cover is a half-broken dresser, and I know the game's scripting will hold my squad back until I, myself, advance.

Wait until it goes on sale for dirt cheap, that's what I did. Picked up MW 2 and 3 for $20 altogether.
This particular m'lady truly broke my heart.
She was a night elf hunter, and I, a human death knight. We were on the stormrage server. She was questing, trying to gain reputation, and I, simply mining in the area. I noticed that she was by herself. I used my 180% flying Mount and swooped down to her. She swooned at the sight of my time lost drake; it was love at first type. I greeted her, she said, "oh man, cool mount!", and all I could do was type in a furiously fast pace, trying to keep her attention. She ended up allowing me to accompany her on her journey for rep.
Days go by. We quest together, pvp together, heck, she even made me her pocket tank. We would spend every day together, sending each other flirty whispers. I even bought her epic flying and an astral tiger, in my heart, I knew she was the one. She was the one girl out of millions of players, and I happened to meet her in stranglethorn vale.
We've known each other for weeks now. Cataclysm drops. We quest together. She a paladin this time, and I still a death knight. We quest all the way to 85 in a day, we almost made realm firsts. Our conversations are more sexual. We are friends on Facebook, and man, things feel pretty real. One night. We are in deepholm collecting herbs and ore. She stops suddenly. She says to me, "mythoughtlurksnomore, are we dating?". Holy shit. She asked, she might what to take this further, omg, this is it. "Uh yeah girlinpicture, I kinda felt like we were". At this point, she takes minutes to respond. My heart is racing. There isn't enough Mtn. Dew to quench my thirst. My hear racing, my face sweaty, she says, "well i would really like to meet te man behind the character". Oh shit, I did it. I got a girlfriend off wow. This can't be real. So weeks go by, and we schedule a visit.
Here comes May. I'm out of university, she's done too. She's making her way to me. I clean my room. Throw ways all the cans and plates of pizza roll left overs and my scattered Doritos crumbs. She arrives. She knocks. When I open the door it's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She hugs me, she smells of lavender and vanilla, she's even better than I imagined. We kiss. Omg this is moving fast. We go to my room. Set her stuff down, and she lays down, inviting me with her eyes. I lay next to her, she goes for it. My hesrt is racing, my bulge is swelling up like a bullfrog. This is my first time ever having a girl go down there. She's enthuastic and she knows what she wants. She says to me, "mythoughtlurksnomore, this is gonna be your legendary quest reward". She gave me a blowy Joey, a very good blowy Joey at that. The rest of the visit we had sex, cuddled, and went to the mall. Unfortunately, we went to the mall.
At the mall, I had left her in Macy's while I went to the bathroom. She was trying on clothes. It takes me but three minutes to go and get back to her. So, I approach the dressing room, and I hear the sounds of flesh on flesh, and I hear her moaning. Oh no. This can't be. How is this possible. After a loud guttural sound, and the rustling around of clothes, I see him come out. It's chad. That Swagbro who fucks all m'ladies and doesn't even respect them. He looks at me, then at her. "Oh hey bro, just fucked your girl, she's a dumb bitch." I'm enraged. I tip my fedora, and I draw my Nippon steel reverse bladed Phoenix katana, Only one of its kind might I add. "Chad, with all of the honor that's left in me, I challenge you to a duel" he accepts in his drunken haze. I jump, strafe quickly against the wall, and I strike him with the blunt side of my katana. He's done. He has no air in his lungs to breathe. I look to m'lady, tip my fedora to her and wish her well. She obviously wasn't as enlightened and euphoric as I thought she was.
Fast forward two years and here I am today. I still play wow, I still try and swoon m'ladies with m'epic mounts and awesome tank skills. But I'll never forget her, the girl in the picture. For she is the only one who's ever given me a blowy Joey.

They're not a big deal when you're starting out, and don't even need gloves. But most bars, even dumbell handles are extremely jagged and rough. Not a problem when you're curling 40 pounds or benching 135. But when you're curling 80+ and benching 200+ (or doing anything else with heavy weights) and you're swinging that shit around for the last few reps to failure, it will fuck up your hands.
And if you're hitting the gym 5+ days a week, every week, those things will not only never heal, but will get significantly worse. So gloves are a necessity to protect your hands.

That is just straight wrong. You realize exposure to pressure(ie: heavy weight) causes calluses also right? It isn't just friction. Gloves won't solve your problem; they just fuck with your grip and are a gimmick. You will be hard pressed to find any person who lifts a significant amount of weight who doesn't have calluses. Also, if your calluses are ripping open you are gripping the bar wrong.

In the military a few guys like using fingerless gloves because it doesn't interfere with trigger pull and shit, although if you're tacticool like my superior self you'd already have special edition Oakley gloves with special grip on the index finger. Also, since I was a Delta SEAL I know most EOD guys use fingerless gloves for all that finesse wire manipulation, but I wouldn't know about that gay shit since I was a door gunner.

Haha, well yeah. I was referring to wearing them in public. I have some hunting mittens that fold back to fingerless gloves so I can operate the trigger. But I don't wear them out. Same goes for weight lifting gloves. They serve a purpose and are usually kept to that area (gym or when using firearms)

The difference - to me at least - is that Pokemon is much more based on level design or story while Call of Duty is much more based on gameplay. Why would you buy the same game every year if its main focus is exactly the same as the previous year? Pokemon has enough options for team type that it gives the games lots of replayability while everyone in Call of Duty will end up using the same general weapons as the previous game. That's just my point of view. They're two very different games.

My problem with this comparison is that Pokemon is released once every handheld generation, if you're going by the main games. Wouldn't that be about every 3-5 years? That's not that bad. The spin off games aren't as popular, and AFAIK released even slower than the main games.
Also, CoD isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's released every year, yeah, but there's a continuing story and the new maps and guns make up for the yearly release.
Edit just found out that maybe the author was referring to the fact that they release two games together, which I think everybody knows is a cash grab

I agree with that. Buying two pokemon games from the same generation is worse than buying an annually rereleased game. However it's a fairly common comparison for people to make that Pokemon is the same every year (we're not even getting a main series release this year anyway).

As someone who was a big CoD player until the last installment, there are reasons to get them. For starters, yes, its an annual release, but its different companies(Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and now Sledgehammer). So although they all have the same general game play, the different companies are gonna do things slightly different. The way it feels, and the mechanics are usually different from one to the next. Some people have sort of a preferred one, and tend to focus on that companies games more than the others. I personally preferred Infinity Ward, and didnt care much for the last few Treyarch games, so I didnt buy them. This means I essentially only needed to buy a new game every two years. Thats really not all that bad in the long run.
But on top of that, you do have a single player campaign that some people care about. The stories are actually pretty good sometimes. I really loved the single player campaign for Ghost and beat it three times.
As for the multiplayer, I know people say its just a rehashed version, and to an extent thats true, but there are usually things about each one that people like better than the next. The physics are usually at least slightly different, for starters. Some even more so. Block Ops to Black ops 2 felt really different. Especially with the knifing. I felt it was completely broken in BO2. One of the things I hated about Modern Warfare 2&3 was some of the techniques people were using, such as quick scoping. Although still possible in Ghost, it is a little harder, so its not quite as big of a problem.
And then you add things like difference in class systems, some game mods change(MW3 had a 2v2 and a 3v3 game mode I played all the time, but they havent dont it again), differences in the way you set up your classes, as well as some other aspects of the game, and for some its completely worth buying a new game for.
Meanwhile, I stopped buying Pokemon games for the same reason you dont buy CoD games. To me it personally just felt like the same thing. There are differences, especially with the stories, graphics, some new mechanics, etc, but I personally just couldnt get into it after awhile. When it comes down to it, its all just personal preference. For some the little changes are worth buying a new game, for others its not enough and feels like the same thing.

That's fair enough. What I don't understand is the people who get all excited for a new game when all they do is just do online matchmaking and get their stats as high as possible - to me, that would be like if I bought a Pokemon game just to do online matches when I already own a game that does the exact same thing.

Funny thing is, I actually like Call of Duty, but I always disappoint my friends when I tell them that I like it for the campaign; I've never really cared for competitive multiplayer games in general. I got hooked when I played through Call of Duty 2 on Veteran difficulty; it was a rush surviving the final mission.
With that in mind, I know full well that if I'm only playing the campaign that I'm missing maybe 50% of the game's total value, so I always wait a few months/years before playing one; I'd still never preorder.

I was wondering if I was the only one. My first CoD was World at War, and the sheer emotional satisfaction of planting that Red Flag on the Reichstag on Veteran won me over to the campaign.

Campaigns kicked ass. The Enemy At the Gates style mission in World at War made that game my favorite. Plus the dismemberment made the game far more gruesome, which really helped with the immersion. Campaigns and Zombies made the Treyarch titles so much better than the Infinity Ward titles.

I remember being a freshman, playing zombies and spec ops with my buddy who lived in another state over summer break. So far I can say that time in my life was the best so far. Without Call Of Duty I would have most likely lost touch with him.

I've always played all aspects of Call of Duty and have enjoyed most of them, but how can you only play it for the campaign? It's $60 for maybe 2 hours of gameplay.

"2 hours of gameplay" is an exaggeration. Crank the difficulty to Veteran. World at War took me a couple of weeks in 1 hour segments.
Plus, as I said, I never buy at release price, because I know I'm missing out on whatever valuation is assigned to the multiplayer aspect. When I see it on for $30-$35 (or less) I feel okay buying it.

That just makes it tedious though. The scripting is so heavy, that it's less about skill and more about guessing where to stand and when to trigger progression. Playing smart isn't an option.

I haven't tried some of be newer ones (Black Ops II, Advanced Warfare, et al) but yeah, I noticed a tendency toward heavier scripting in the newer ones that I have played. I got into the series right around CoD2 (world war 2, not modern warfare) and it was surprisingly open-ended per situation, aside from a few very linear levels. For the most part, I was free to define my own tactics to complete a level: hide over there, shoot at those guys, use a sniper rifle to clear the level; while other times I might go a completely different path and use grenade tactics the whole time. Adding veteran difficulty to this – in which maybe two bullets could kill you – every engagement becomes something of a puzzle: "If I move out from behind these sandbags, the guy on the right will snipe me. If I pop my head up, maybe I can snipe the machine gunner on the left and then get an opening to grenade the right guy." I really enjoy the challenge of "impossible" situations, where I have ten enemies shooting at me, my only cover is a half-broken dresser, and I know the game's scripting will hold my squad back until I, myself, advance.

This particular m'lady truly broke my heart. She was a night elf hunter, and I, a human death knight. We were on the stormrage server. She was questing, trying to gain reputation, and I, simply mining in the area. I noticed that she was by herself. I used my 180% flying Mount and swooped down to her. She swooned at the sight of my time lost drake; it was love at first type. I greeted her, she said, "oh man, cool mount!", and all I could do was type in a furiously fast pace, trying to keep her attention. She ended up allowing me to accompany her on her journey for rep. Days go by. We quest together, pvp together, heck, she even made me her pocket tank. We would spend every day together, sending each other flirty whispers. I even bought her epic flying and an astral tiger, in my heart, I knew she was the one. She was the one girl out of millions of players, and I happened to meet her in stranglethorn vale. We've known each other for weeks now. Cataclysm drops. We quest together. She a paladin this time, and I still a death knight. We quest all the way to 85 in a day, we almost made realm firsts. Our conversations are more sexual. We are friends on Facebook, and man, things feel pretty real. One night. We are in deepholm collecting herbs and ore. She stops suddenly. She says to me, "mythoughtlurksnomore, are we dating?". Holy shit. She asked, she might what to take this further, omg, this is it. "Uh yeah girlinpicture, I kinda felt like we were". At this point, she takes minutes to respond. My heart is racing. There isn't enough Mtn. Dew to quench my thirst. My hear racing, my face sweaty, she says, "well i would really like to meet te man behind the character". Oh shit, I did it. I got a girlfriend off wow. This can't be real. So weeks go by, and we schedule a visit. Here comes May. I'm out of university, she's done too. She's making her way to me. I clean my room. Throw ways all the cans and plates of pizza roll left overs and my scattered Doritos crumbs. She arrives. She knocks. When I open the door it's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She hugs me, she smells of lavender and vanilla, she's even better than I imagined. We kiss. Omg this is moving fast. We go to my room. Set her stuff down, and she lays down, inviting me with her eyes. I lay next to her, she goes for it. My hesrt is racing, my bulge is swelling up like a bullfrog. This is my first time ever having a girl go down there. She's enthuastic and she knows what she wants. She says to me, "mythoughtlurksnomore, this is gonna be your legendary quest reward". She gave me a blowy Joey, a very good blowy Joey at that. The rest of the visit we had sex, cuddled, and went to the mall. Unfortunately, we went to the mall. At the mall, I had left her in Macy's while I went to the bathroom. She was trying on clothes. It takes me but three minutes to go and get back to her. So, I approach the dressing room, and I hear the sounds of flesh on flesh, and I hear her moaning. Oh no. This can't be. How is this possible. After a loud guttural sound, and the rustling around of clothes, I see him come out. It's chad. That Swagbro who fucks all m'ladies and doesn't even respect them. He looks at me, then at her. "Oh hey bro, just fucked your girl, she's a dumb bitch." I'm enraged. I tip my fedora, and I draw my Nippon steel reverse bladed Phoenix katana, Only one of its kind might I add. "Chad, with all of the honor that's left in me, I challenge you to a duel" he accepts in his drunken haze. I jump, strafe quickly against the wall, and I strike him with the blunt side of my katana. He's done. He has no air in his lungs to breathe. I look to m'lady, tip my fedora to her and wish her well. She obviously wasn't as enlightened and euphoric as I thought she was. Fast forward two years and here I am today. I still play wow, I still try and swoon m'ladies with m'epic mounts and awesome tank skills. But I'll never forget her, the girl in the picture. For she is the only one who's ever given me a blowy Joey.
