INGREDIENTS
ยฝ cup white chocolate chips
2 small brownies (homemade or store-bought)
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
ยฝ cup raspberries
ยฝ cup blueberries
1 cup chocolate chips
ยพ cup heavy cream
PREPARATION:
Put the white chocolate chips in a bowl and microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring the chocolate between each interval, until melted.
Open the plastic ornament and pour the white chocolate into one of the halves. Close the ornament and slowly rotate it so the white chocolate coats the entire inside evenly. Freeze for 30 minutes.
Remove the ornament from the freezer and carefully open it, to remove the white chocolate ball. (Be gentle, the ball is hollow and delicate.)
Run very hot water over a spoon to warm it. Dry the back of the spoon and then use it to smooth the seam that runs around the center of the ball. Run very hot water over a bowl with a flat bottom, dry it, and then put the white chocolate ball on the upside-down bowl and gently twist it, allowing the bottom of the ball to melt, making a 2-inch hole.
On a serving plate, stack the 2 brownies and then top them with the scoop of ice cream. Carefully, lower the white chocolate ball over the brownies and ice cream, so that the brownies and ice cream end up inside the ball. Surround the ball with the raspberries and blueberries.
To prepare the chocolate sauce, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream in a bowl, and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the sauce is glossy and smooth.
For the finale, slowly pour the hot chocolate sauce all over the ball in a circular motion. The white chocolate ball will melt and reveal the brownies and ice cream inside.

It's basically just chocolate sauce. Put it in the fridge and save it for later. Take out a bit and melt it to make chocolate fondue or a good ice cream topping, make chocolate covered apples or strawberries, so many uses for chocolate sauce.

A little bit more than that, actually. 1.5 cups of chips is 1540 calories. That's not even with the heavy cream, ice cream, brownies, or fruit. The heavy cream is another 600 calories, the ice cream is probably about 140, I'll be conservative with the brownies and say 300 calories there, and then maybe 18 calories for the berries. So, over all, I'd estimate that entire dish is about 2598 calories. But the bottom of the ball was melted away, so let's call it an even 2500.
You could remove the berries to try to make it a little healthier, but that's still pushing it.

If you want to eat what you like and it's 2500 calories a serving, either only eat that that day, or make sure you reduce your daily intake by 500 calories for the next five days. Do whatever works for you.
I find that if you take the time to explore the different kinds of hunger by taking a day to fast every once in a while, you'll know the difference between hungry and craving something because your blood sugar is low.

This is why, when I need a chocolate fix, it's just:
(Adjust quantities/ratio to taste, appetite, and desired thickness. I prefer to make a thick paste, similar to nutella)
-Stir sugar and cream/milk together well until sugar is dissolved.
-Pour cream into cocoa powder and stir until desired consistency is achieved.
You can do this with two mugs and a spoon. Stirring the cream into the cocoa powder is easier than the inverse, because then you don't have to deal with the cocoa powder floating to the top and being difficult to stir.
You can do this with one mug, but it's more effort.
Add a TINY pinch of salt and/or cinnamon and/or cayenne pepper if you want. Not enough to overpower the chocolate; just enough to enhance the flavour.
You can change the temperature if you want; put it in the fridge or freezer, or mix it together in a sauce pan on the stove/double boiled.

Ingredients:
Preparation:
Put the white chocolate chips in a bowl and microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring the chocolate between each interval, until melted.
Open the plastic ornament and pour the white chocolate into one of the halves. Close the ornament and slowly rotate it so the white chocolate coats the entire inside evenly. Freeze for 30 minutes. Remove the ornament from the freezer and carefully open it, to remove the white chocolate ball. (Be gentle, the ball is hollow and delicate.)
Run very hot water over a spoon to warm it. Dry the back of the spoon and then use it to smooth the seam that runs around the center of the ball. Run very hot water over a bowl with a flat bottom, dry it, and then put the white chocolate ball on the upside-down bowl and gently twist it, allowing the bottom of the ball to melt, making a 2-inch hole.
On a serving plate, stack the 2 brownies and then top them with the scoop of ice cream. Carefully, lower the white chocolate ball over the brownies and ice cream, so that the brownies and ice cream end up inside the ball. Surround the ball with the raspberries and blueberries.
To prepare the chocolate sauce, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream in a bowl, and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the sauce is glossy and smooth.
For the finale, slowly pour the hot chocolate sauce all over the ball in a circular motion. The white chocolate ball will melt and reveal the brownies and ice cream inside.

Tempering chocolate requires it to reach a certain temperature (between 86ยฐ F. (30ยฐ C) and 90ยฐ F. (32ยฐ C)) if you heat it too high, the mix will become lumpy or grainy in texture, too low and it fails to spread and be shaped easily. So buying a thermometer makes sense, especially one which doesn't need to be inserted into the mix, and can therefore be used during shaping to make sure the chocolate hasn't cool too much and is becoming brittle.

Really? I feel like it would be hard not to. How on earth can you make it thick when it would all run down to the bottom leaving basically the thinnest layer possible?
The only part that could be thick is the bottom where it pools together but you destroy that on the plate anyway to get the inside in.

I think that's part of what they were saying; you'll wind up with a lopsided sphere that's thick in some places and thin or nonexistant in others, because you can't rotate it as it freezes.
Might try putting it in a bowl of ice water in the freezer, with something on top of it to keep it from floating out?

There's plenty of recipes out there that teach you how to do this, most using much less sauce to melt the ball. The most important bit though is tempering the chocolate for your ball mold so that it holds shape and is smooth not gritty when eaten.

When you try it in real life:
Impossible to remove the chocolate from the ball after freezing. Brownies end up tasting horrible. The chocolate chips never melt enough and you have to microwave the milk way longer than you need to. After you pour the warm chocolate milk on top of the white ball, it just collapses over the icecream and brownies and it ruins the entire format of the thing.
Source: Tried to replicate alot of meals I've seen on the internet in real life with horrible results

That's wonderful, but the fact that the main ingredient in all of this is sugar makes me not want it. I could use this evolutionary quirk that allows me to betray my body's perception of energy intake, of survival, of successful hunt, but it distorts one's perception and opens the door to a long trip where much too much sugar is plain normal, and then you desire food for this distorted reason much more than you should. To 90% of those who reject my stance as going too far: If you ask yourself if you're regularly eating food that has much too much sugar as compared to natural food, you realize that this is indeed so. Your opinion is the very consequence of what you have done to your brains. Undistort yourselves please.
