Not sure if it's the intended meaning but I find Rexxar's to be the grimmest one. "You were too slow, old friend" he says as he butchers and re-stitches the corpse of one of his Animal Companions. "Now the hunt will never end", he mutters to the lifeless body, soon to be raised from the dead.

Makes me think that it would be a great idea to have the three animal companions as options for Build-A-Beast. They are all powerful minions for their mana cost and would give the Deathstalker deck a lot more viability in a competitive Control Hunter deck. Plus, it would tie in well with the flavor text.

The Death Knight Hero cards also inherently represent alternate realities for the characters. It's certainly possible that the reality in which DK Jania exists also has her usurp/follow up Arthas as the Lich King.
Kind of like how it looks like DK Uther rebels against Arthas and joins the Ebon Blade.

Arthas =/= Lich king. The Arthas that Jaina loved and he loved her (I'll refer to him as "human arthas") was a very little part of a Lich king. The Lich King is composed of completely twisted version of Arthas and Ner'zhul. After his awakening there was no reason for the Lich King to hold back army of the dead if he wanted everything dead, but he did. Uther speculated that this was because of that "little part of human Arthas" within Lich King. I think that the "Death knight Jaina" is referring to the "human Arthas". By "toys" she could be referring to the Frostmourne which "destroyed" him (The humanl Arthas).

I wouldn't look too much for a strict narrative here? It's more of a thematic thing, taking the characters and their personas and shifting them to evil (...well, in Gul'dan's case, "evil and more dickish too").
In this case, it makes sense because... well, her title is "The Lich Queen". Before they ruined her character in WoW, she was about peace in the world and stopping Arthas. Her dark side... well, becoming Arthas makes a fair bit of sense :).

And Hearthstone is just a card-game in-universe. My headcannon is that the sets are made by Hearth Stonebrew and/or some of his friends (eg. Benjamin Brode) and reflect their view of the world (somewhat more accurate than you'd expect, the Tavern being a magical place after all, but still not perfect).
The League of Explorers are frequent patrons of the Tavern and friends with the Innkeeper, so he made an expansion based on their real exploits (exaggerated by Reno). The man telling the stories in the comic is also a frequent patron, though one that's somewhat annoying, so the Innkeeper featured him as "Pompous Thespian" in the Karazhan adventure to poke fun of him.
As for the gangs and their leaders from Gadgetzan (as well as the newspapers and stuff we got before release), I'm not really sure about that. It could be based on real people, it could be just a story made for the card game. I guess we won't know for sure until some references to the gangs apear in WoW. I do consider the way the city of Gadgetzan is portrayed to be more accurate to the "real thing" than how it appears in WoW. World of Warcraft simplifies a lot of things for technical reasons.

Jaina was Arthas' friend before he turned to the dark side. Her walking away from him when he decided to purge Stratholm was a major plot point in the Warcraft III story. The alternate universe version assumes she chose otherwise.

I seem to remember a handful that just describe the lore of the card. Looking quickly, I found both Grom and Deathwing have almost fully serious ones.
Grommash drank the tainted blood of Mannoroth, dooming the orcs to green skin and red eyes! Maybe not his best decision.
Once a noble dragon known as Neltharion, Deathwing lost his mind and shattered Azeroth before finally being defeated. Daddy issues?

Uther as either a d&d death knight, or as an oathbreaker paladin.
Malfurion as an Arch druid with a lot of 'swarm of spiders' as minions.
Anduin would be death cleric.
Gul'dan... I know that Volo's guide added stats for various types of warlock, but I'm pretty sure they weren't particularly high CR. Maybe take those and buff them a bit.
Valeera take the assassin NPC, buff it, then add some shadow monk shenanigans.
Garrosh... I guess death knight again works.
I'm not sure how to go about statting rexxar and thrall.

I totally get what you're saying, in that it's not like playing 20 Jade Idols is the only way a Jade Druid develops a bunch of really huge jades, but let's not let the pendulum swing back too far the other way on evaluating Geist. It doesn't clean up a board, it doesn't stop the other mess of Jade cards, those are all true.
But it puts the ceiling back on Jade Druid. The deck isn't suddenly dead, but the fact that it is now at least possible to exhaust their resources is not a thing we can dismiss out of hand.

I actually like texts like these. And I love this one.
It manages to capture the iconic persona of The Lich King, while still having that Hearthstony twist. I also like the MTG flavor texts but serious texts just donยดt fit into Hearthstone for me. This game has always been more laid back and cartoony.

I really, really like these. Honestly, as much as I enjoy the lighthearted tone of Hearthstone, flavor text is one of the places you can build a world and tell a story, and Hearthstone drops the ball imo. I find it a lot more fun than simple memes and puns that feel kind of lazy.
I would love to see more cards with writing like this, that expands on Hearthstone's alternate-universe and drops hints of lore - or at least a bit of clever and witty humor. It feels like it has more heart.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some of the gags in the flavor text. Druid of the Swarm with a subtle Kafka reference (I think?), clever inside jokes like with Sindragosa and meta-gags like with Howlfiend, there's a lot to like. Even some of the puns are pretty clever ("snakes on a frozen plain", just the right level of cringe).
I mean, it's not enough to offset Benny's tired "Spanish Inquisition" joke, but hey, humor's subjective, YMMV. :)
But... they went full creepy and serious with the DK Heroes and... if anything, it makes the comedic ones standout more. And... makes the DK's all the more awesome...

I'm just nitpicking. But this expat is like an alternate universe of wrath of the lich king expansion from wow. It assumes that the heroes of Azeroth ( the player chars) couldn't take down the lich king in the ice crown citadel. Which is why the heroes are turned into death knights.
That means that the LK turned all of the heroes into his soldiers. Bolvar is not the lich king in this version he is just being tourtered because he wasn't rescued.

thermodynamics helps us understand the universe and where it is inevitably going.
We know that as the universe expands and all stars accelerate away from one another. At some point stars will be so far away from each other, that when they die, the material and energy ejected from them won't be able to form new stars.
At that point as the night sky becomes darker and lonelier, the laws of entropy dictate that the universe will undergo 'Heat Death'. At which point, all the natural processes in the universe that require energy cease to function.
Effectively, everything that can happen, now can't happen any more, the universe becomes a graveyard.

Everything from 'living' beings in the universe to the 'blank' space between the universe is a series micro/small and macro/big set of functions and processes, all of which use energy.
The molecules that make us up as human beings aren't technically alive by our definition of 'alive', but when that energy can no longer be used, they become inert and 'die'.
The same molecules that make the base elements of human beings up are the same elements that where ejected from long since deceased stars.
Those same molecules weren't alive then, and they aren't technically alive now. They are just undergoing natural processes that use energy.
Eventually when those same molecules that once made up stars and 'living' things can't continue to use energy because of entropy, they will be inert, dissipate, cease to function/die.

You realize that Malfurion's quote is talking about the balance of living things and dying right? Stars are not alive. Wouldn't it make more sense that the dude that is all about nature is talking about how all animals/plant die rather than something about the heat death of the universe?

I think your right and that is exactly what Malfurion is referring to and that is why it's so good. That quote can refer to the things small like death of plants and animals AND it can also be applied to the universe as a whole because it is a natural law.
His quote not only holds true of the smallest possible scale, because it's a natural law of the universe, it has the benefit of being able to be scaled up and applied everything in the known universe. It is in a sense a universal truth.

The reason you die is because you are biologically preprogrammed to eventually be unable to reproduce cells.
Don't worry, though. This constant, imperfect cell splitting eventually causes a huge series of errors where a cell essentially goes rogue. We call that cancer. So even if your body wasn't slowly committing suicide, the cancer would get you!
And if we figure out how to stop that, nicely done! We just need to leave the earth before it become a molten rock of death which will soon be consumed by the sun before it, itself, detonates and becomes nothing but remains.

Ironically, your belief that this is edgy is more "high school" that what I've said.
It's nihilism. It's accepting the reality that life is, overtly, without meaning. It's not about being dark and brooding, it's about coming to terms with the facts and the reality of the matter. If anything, it's rather mature.
I find it freeing, in a sense. There's no big thing surrounding us, it's just us enjoying life as we do choose. Accepting it and enjoying it for what it is.
Jeez, people are quick to call anything involving death "edgy".
Next thing you know, Monty Python will be "edgy" because of all the morbid humour.
EDIT: as a note, my career path and university classes + placements are in the medical field. Death is just a thing for me. I've cut open corpses, seen wicked diseases, etc. It's something I can talk about casually and maturely, because it's something that doesn't really bother me. Because it's going to be my damn job.
