Priest already has Heal Opponent Face/ Emote: The Light shall burn you! The most overpowered and interactive emote BM in the early stages of the game. Clearly this needs to be nerfed.

thats what I had always thought it should be like when I first started the game. To me the spell caster mage having the same health, tankiness as something like a huge paladin or warrior made no sense. Those classes should have been squishier but more powerful with their cards, not doing that greatly reduced diversity with classes and heavily limited their design pathways IMO

Actually i think it's the opposite because it allows there to be a diverse amount of decks for only one class i.e. The amount of warrior decks, control shaman and aggro shaman, midrange and beast Druid, among others.

They could someday do it. We already sort of have this effect with Ragnaros and Jaraxxus. If they someday implement a new class (Death Knight, Monk, Demon Hunter for example) or give us something like specs they could have different options have different starting health.

A card named Mega-blast (I think that's it. Something like that.) The Millhouse legendary used to give you a 10 mana Megablast card, which did 5 damage to every enemy. He wanted to Megablast you, as a reference to the Legendary of him.

It's really just meant to teach the mechanics of using minions, spells, and weapons. The rest you can learn yourself.

Granted the coin should be in the last mission or something to teach it , but I think it's entirely reasonable to do most of those thing.

Varying hand sizes is just to keep your options very limited to keep it simple at the start. Random creatures forcing you to hit them only happens once or twice and there's a message basically saying this is the correct move. Cards that don't exist doesn't really matter at all. The majority are just shitty, if thematic, vanilla minions. Only a few cards, like transcendence or whatever Lorewalker Cho uses make me go "This is a cool card that I'd want" Finally, the hero powers is not a big deal at all. There's only 2 in the tutorial. One is just fireblast reskinned (to keep hero powers basic) and the other is Illidans which the game basically tells you is overpowered.

Like yes ideally it'd be a 1:1 with the actual game but this way mechnics and complexity can be spoonfed. Then once you complete the "learn how the basic game works" you then have to go to practice mode anyway which essentially is an extension of the tutorial

Yah, but teaching people that you have to trade minions right at the start of the tournament is the most idiotic thing you could do in a card game tutorial. Just let them play the full ruleset- Coin, 3 card starting hands, 30 health, mulligans. Sure, the beautiful script they wrote of card draws and enemy counter-plays would be ruined, but people'll actually understand the game.

This is something that messes me up as well when playing board games with someone new and somebody else trying to explain the rules. But instead of explaining the rules , they go into a sort of list of how you're supposed to apply said rules instead of simply stating them and trusting that your friends are not fucking dumb asses and can play a game if you just tell them the rules.

That's apparently intended. Was watching some design speech about hearthstone.

The idea was to make the basics really easy to learn and the game unintimidating to get started on. And then nuances (like secrets on working on your turn) they expect people to just figure out for themselves [implicitly after they're already invested in the game].

Given all of the horrible, horrible tutorials out there... there's a lot going for that strategy.
