"[Do something] to [cards] in your deck" is actually applied when the card is drawn, not when it's in your deck. If you e.g. play a Mistcaller followed by a "fake-draw" effect like Varian Wrynn, King's Elekk or Tracking the card will be unaffected, i.e. they don't get Mistcaller's buff or the cost reduction from Renounce Darkness.
Joust effects likewise use the base cost of the card. Molten Giant wins all jousts (except against another Molten Giant) even if you're at 1hp and that Mysterious Challenger you got from Renounce Darkness will cost 6 instead of 5 until you draw it.

It kinda makes sense to do it that way for programming. No sense of emulating all the cards sitting in the deck - It's probably just an array with card ids and an RNG to "draw" the cards.
If they wanted to make joust cards reflect their cost then they could just run them through the same thing they do to convert them to your have before comparing them, but it seems they want joust to work off of base stats.

It'd be consistent with your deck being "shuffled" every time a card is added into it. The simple approach is sensible and intuitive but has a glaring problem with pseudodraw effects, although it could be argued the pseudodraw effects are the actual problem. Tracking is a basic card but unless I'm mistaken on-draw effects weren't introduced until GvG (Flame Leviathan + Tracking) so obviously this isn't something the devs originally considered.
I guess rule of the thumb is "(pending) effects are applied only if the card is put straight into your hand". It's consistent with Flame Leviathan not triggering with a full hand and whatnot.
Is it weird to be bothered by a constantly shuffled deck. Obviously since you don't know what's coming next, you'd never be able to tell, and there aren't any effects to let you read what order your deck is in like in Magic. Still, how can one believe in the heart of the cards if the order of cards is always shifting?
Devs have confirmed that your deck is only shuffled when cards are inserted. Entomb, Gang Up, etc. If you play Novice Engineer and draw X, you would have gotten X next turn anyway without the NE.

Well really when you look at it all from the point where things were when HS came out, you really did not need to know anything more than the ID of the card that was drawn. Would make sense to simply have an array of card IDs. It's lighter on the memory and super fast to handle.

Keeping a little state (attack, hp, mana cost) for less than 30 cards is completely negligible, both in terms of memory requirements and processing time.
They just made a design choice which forced them into workarounds for certain card effects.
Even if your deck was 4000 cards. Unless they were doing some really nasty stuff, an iteration through all cards a couple of times a turn will not be noticeable.

Hex actually does emulate all the cards in the deck. Because they've got entire archetypes that interact with the cards in your deck (i.e., next creature you draw gets "draw a card", and if you shuffle it back into your deck it'll still have it). Obviously hindsight is 20/20 here but it's probably better to design each card so that it's actually emulated as a card in your deck instead of the way it is now
Adding to the obscure interactions, I was playing a rogue deck against a warlock and Burgled a Renounce Darkness. I thought for funsies I'd play it in hopes of getting a new hero power, but I rolled rogue. Oh well got to use my hero power twice in one turn, I guess that's good. To my surprise, next turn I drew fan of knives, but it only cost 2, so it's not drawing the changed cards, but drawing the class cards of your new class that triggers the reduction.

Yeah, Disguised Toast covered it here. I can't watch the clip now but IIRC he explains (or guesses at least) why this happens. It only occurs if you roll your current class, and probably if you Entomb or Gang Up a class card and then roll that class.

If you mean using the base cost instead of one reduced by e.g. Thaurissan yes. Nerubian Prophet has a base cost of 6 so even if you play it for free Evolve will still turn it into a 7-mana minion. This applies for all transformation effects that use the minion's mana cost.
Summoning Stone behaves similarly but it uses the spell's current cost instead of base cost. If Thaurissan or Millhouse lowers your Pyroblast to 0 mana Summoning Stone will poop out a Wisp or Tinyfin.

Short answer: no, Renounce Darkness is the exception and changes the cards while they're still in your deck. The changed cards however only contain the ID of the card and the discount is applied elsewhere, fake-draws skip this discount. I originally wrote an excessively technical and detailed reply on why Renounce Darkness being an exception makes sense from a programming point of view but uh, you just have to trust me that it does.
Apart from the fact Mistcaller, Renounce Darkness etc. didn't exist in Classic the one thing that doesn't make sense is why exactly fake-draws behave this way. My guess? Tracking was originally jury-rigged in a bizarre but working (this is woefully common in programming) way and all the other stuff just reuses its code.
I realize asking you might be weird....but was the music really that loud in the original? Like, it wasn't a subtle background gap filler, but an in your face music chorus as loud or louder than the actual dialogue in the show people were watching?
Because if so, that's pretty terrible :-\

I'm pointing out how stupid that phrase is. Pointing out how annoying something is, something that ruins fun, is the opposite of not being fun at parties.
This song and people who use that phrase remind me of the guys at parties who are so annoying and loud and having fun at other people's expense, then get mad when someone calls them out.
If that was on NA casuals then I was that zoolock! I was pretty salty afterwards but ultimately I just wanted a quest for an arena run and I did not care to see that through.
I was gonna say, I've had my forbidden tentacles cleared loads of times. It does suck, but that's the primary weakness of the deck (1 and 2 damage sweeps kill your dudes). It's also built so you can come back from that.
I admit I feel a bit dirty when someone clears and I drop councilman and more tentacles, they kill the councilman, I drop an alpha wolf and a 3 mana sea giant, maybe trade my new 2/1 tentacles into any threats, maybe use an Argus to put up two taunts, knowing I have 2 POs to get lethal with any minion left on the board next turn.
Yeah, I enjoy playing zoo because it's just a bunch of well synergized options. There's no one OP win condition, but instead several synergistic combos. That does make it a bit depressing to play against, when you feel like no matter what you kill everything else is just as much a threat.
Definitely. By turn 6 (if he had coin) I've usually done plenty of damage to face. Possibly even enough that a charge (doomguard or leeroy) with one or two power overwhelmings could finish the job.

I assume because dragon priest is a proactive deck and nova is much better when you have board + doesn't give them a clear for later + synergistic with azure drake too
Idk I just find it more versatile. EE nukes your own minions too so it's not nearly as good if you have a board, plus I like the healing from nova and it can draw cards if you have cleric up. And it doesn't give your opponent a free removal.
EE is certainly better in some situations but whenever I've used it I often found myself wishing I had nova instead.
Try putting in a ton of AoE in exchange for some of the greedier aspects of the deck. I'm running the Trump's dragon N'Zoth priest with less minions for Nova, Horror, double evil, and an infested tauren. It isn't as strong in some control matchups, but aggro can never make it through, since you no longer need to save your AoE.

I'm a filthy zoo lock player for this season and yesterday I faced a priest that had used an excavated evil and a holy nova. I thought I had this in the bag. At most he'd have one more holy nova, but its all good most my minions on board are above 2 health. The guy thought steals and gets excavated evil out of my deck. I couldn't even be mad at that point.

To be honest...no, I'm not. I don't think zoolock is that common right now. Strifecro commented in a vod last week he assumes high rank/legend warlocks are renolock and mulligans accordingly, because he doesn't think zoolock is as good.

eh I'm in high legend and always play against zoolock.
I zoolocked to rank 5, but then I started fucking around and dropped to 7. While I was climbing I ran into mirrors, which are stupid. Game's decided on turn 3 or 4 when someone loses the board. But I haven't seen any in the last few days at 4-5.

I've been playing fatigue warrior solely for all the shaman and zoo. had 70% WR from rank 5 to legend with it, the lack of death rattles is nice.
Yeah, zoo's sticky minions are basically possessed villager and imp gang boss now. I felt like every game was a gamble, if he draws a board clear I lose. Darkshire councilman is also a little bit of an exception because 5 health for 3 mana is hard to clear.
It's hard to say what my win rate was vs warrior. There's a lot of viable warrior decks which have a lot of overlap, so I often wasn't sure what I'd just faced.
Especially that one where you put in a bunch of class cards and then hope for all them to replaced with random ones from another class to be played at discount.
Rank 18 (but decent player, just doesn't ladder) friend said I only got legend because I played zoo. I said go play zoo and show me how easy it is, first game he plays DWA on the left of his only other minion with ritual in hand :3
The last dozen or so decks I've played against were some sort of aggro, either shaman or zoolock. I guess I understand the anecdotal evidence, but I'm experiencing the exact opposite.
I played renounce against a face hunter and got paladin. I healed for 32 hp that match but still lost. :(

I've recently been playing a combination zoo/renounce deck so (as in all the low cost warlock minions and spells with a few neutral buff/draw cards plus renounce), so I really love this clip as I've been on both sides of it.

I play a priest deck when ever I am facing a zoolock. I've lost one out of 19 matches. It really destroys the Warlocks soul every time unless you have that one turn where you drew all the cards you didn't need. Like that one time I did out of 19 times.

Looks like proof that the game is heavily rigged to me. Top decked the exact card he needed for that specific situation. The odds of what happening in that video must be staggering and yet stuff exactly like this happens daily for everyone.
Why would a benevolent company do such a thing? To force 'exciting' moments and exploit that dopamine release. The alternative is he gets sick of boring games and uninstalls.
I'll take zoo any day over patron warrior at it's peak, or face hunter. Despite what many people think, zoo actually requires a high amount of skill to play properly. Many small choices dictate the games outcome, and board control actually does matter.
i have yet to play against zoolock this season, oh well

Not too thrilled with this. Just some real scummy RNG. The game is getting far too RNG focused with cards like Yogg who, in my opinion, completely break the game.
You have to be of sub-human intelligence to play Zoolock in casual. The games mean nothing and the deck requires no thought. Intellectually, its a half step above watching a flame.

A lucky combo like this could be possible in let's say magic, but then usually it's already part of a strategy when the deck was planned. I was gonna say, I've had my forbidden tentacles cleared loads of times. It does suck, but that's the primary weakness of the deck (1 and 2 damage sweeps kill your dudes). It's also built so you can come back from that.

I admit I feel a bit dirty when someone clears and I drop councilman and more tentacles, they kill the councilman, I drop an alpha wolf and a 3 mana sea giant, maybe trade my new 2/1 tentacles into any threats, maybe use an Argus to put up two taunts, knowing I have 2 POs to get lethal with any minion left on the board next turn.

Yeah, I enjoy playing zoo because it's just a bunch of well synergized options. There's no one OP win condition, but instead several synergistic combos. That does make it a bit depressing to play against, when you feel like no matter what you kill everything else is just as much a threat.

Idk I just find it more versatile. EE nukes your own minions too so it's not nearly as good if you have a board, plus I like the healing from nova and it can draw cards if you have cleric up. And it doesn't give your opponent a free removal.
EE is certainly better in some situations but whenever I've used it I often found myself wishing I had nova instead.

Try putting in a ton of AoE in exchange for some of the greedier aspects of the deck. I'm running the Trump's dragon N'Zoth priest with less minions for Nova, Horror, double evil, and an infested tauren. It isn't as strong in some control matchups, but aggro can never make it through, since you no longer need to save your AoE.

I'm a filthy zoo lock player for this season and yesterday I faced a priest that had used an excavated evil and a holy nova. I thought I had this in the bag. At most he'd have one more holy nova, but its all good most my minions on board are above 2 health. The guy thought steals and gets excavated evil out of my deck. I couldn't even be mad at that point.

I zoolocked to rank 5, but then I started fucking around and dropped to 7. While I was climbing I ran into mirrors, which are stupid. Game's decided on turn 3 or 4 when someone loses the board. But I haven't seen any in the last few days at 4-5.

Yeah, zoo's sticky minions are basically possessed villager and imp gang boss now. I felt like every game was a gamble, if he draws a board clear I lose. Darkshire councilman is also a little bit of an exception because 5 health for 3 mana is hard to clear.
It's hard to say what my win rate was vs warrior. There's a lot of viable warrior decks which have a lot of overlap, so I often wasn't sure what I'd just faced.

I've recently been playing a combination zoo/renounce deck so (as in all the low cost warlock minions and spells with a few neutral buff/draw cards plus renounce), so I really love this clip as I've been on both sides of it.

I play a priest deck when ever I am facing a zoolock. I've lost one out of 19 matches. It really destroys the Warlocks soul every time unless you have that one turn where you drew all the cards you didn't need. Like that one time I did out of 19 times.

Looks like proof that the game is heavily rigged to me. Top decked the exact card he needed for that specific situation. The odds of what happening in that video must be staggering and yet stuff exactly like this happens daily for everyone.
Why would a benevolent company do such a thing? To force 'exciting' moments and exploit that dopamine release. The alternative is he gets sick of boring games and uninstalls.

I'll take zoo any day over patron warrior at it's peak, or face hunter. Despite what many people think, zoo actually requires a high amount of skill to play properly. Many small choices dictate the games outcome, and board control actually does matter.

Not too thrilled with this. Just some real scummy RNG. The game is getting far too RNG focused with cards like Yogg who, in my opinion, completely break the game.

I was trolling on purpose, because unlinke most popular card games the amount of RNG in this game is yuuge. A lucky combo like this could be possible in let's say magic, but then usually it's already part of a strategy when the deck was planned. This is not planned, it's playing roulette and hoping to hit your number.
