Humor is subjective, you do realize that right? Also, jokes have a structure, setup - punchline, which can clearly be seen in the video. The fact that you dont find it funny does not change the fact that its a joke.

Laugh tracks are common in situation comedies because other people laughing can trigger your own laughter. Delivery can make a great joke die or a bad joke hilarious.
So in summation: ironic situation, edgy content, delivery.

Now that I stopped to think about this I feel that joking about negative stereotypes is just generally mean thing to do even if it would be funny to some. I can see how these kind of jokes can easily hurt someones feelings so why do it. Joking about positive stereotypes on the other hand are more likely to be funny even to the 'target' group but those are not completely safe ether.
So if I would joke about stereotypes I would go with the positive ones every time. It's too risky for me to joke around them otherwise and especially if I'm not even included in the negative stereotype.
But yeah, I didn't find these jokes funny but I didn't get offended by them. They were just old and kinda dumb.
Idk, I guess that the reason I don't find it funny is because the stereotype of women being bad at driving is actually the opposite of the truth.
Women have lower insurance premiums because they don't crash as much. Granted past a certain age, men and women pay similar rates.
But the data show that on average, women are safer drivers, so this joke is as funny to me as a person saying "my friend told me to be more conservative, so I went and got educated" and laughing uncontrollably.

Relatable, been married for 13 years, my wife refuses to get a license because the two times she's attempted to learn she has crashed the vehicles she was in (little to no real damage), and very often, the first couple years, I got ignored around the house for no reason.
I dunno about everyone arguing about statistics in here. None of you ever had to sit in the car with your granma? Your mom? Younger sister? Girlfriends? It's not really a question of who's better or worse at driving. It's annoying to be criticized when you're the driver when you know full well what the other person's version of "safe" is. Driving slow, being passive, stopping at yellow lights. Pretty innocuous stuff. But my guess is more men would be irritated by this stuff than women. And more women would be irritated by the opposite.
So the joke is more about how men tend to perceive their partner's driving rather than how women as a whole actually drive in general.
My mom is a very safe driver and hasn't had a serious accident the whole time I've been alive. My Dad has been in many. But he's the better driver between the two of them. Why? He drives way more than her. Like in the magnitude of 100 times. Any time we went anywhere as a family they would fight about his driving. Basically just because they had two very different concepts about what safe driving felt like.
This makes a lot of sense! I understood the second joke, but the first one didnโt make sense to me because all the women in my life are pretty safe drivers. While my dad and brothers decide at random to go full on speed racer. Yet both are rarely in accidents. It makes sense about it being a perception rather than an absolute.

I've also been hit two times. The first time smashed the back of my car at lights and wrote it off. That was a man driving. The second was a bump at lights that luckily barely left a debt. That was a woman driving.
So my gathered evidence says it's 50/50 with a lean on men causing more damage
You ever had your back broken? That changes your perception. And I've been hit four times by women but the other two times no damage was done. I've been on the road both on bikes and in cars more than the average person to see enough to make my conclusion. I know it's a shitty opinion that seems sexist, but it comes from a valid place. I also live in a city that has some of the worst drivers in the country regardless of gender, so that also sways my opinion. But I don't appreciate people gaslighting me, saying my lived experience is not valid, that's bullshit.
No one's gaslighting you. No one is saying what happened to you didn't actually happen to you.
But you can't use a sample size of four as justification for your opinions on all women drivers. That's a terrible sample size.
Also, the more you talk about your experience, the more you show subconscious bias. A woman broke your back and caused you immense pain, so of course you seek out proof of your opinion. Never mind the thousands of women who drive past you daily with no issues though..
It sucks that you've had so many accidents but it doesn't automatically mean that women are bad drivers. Especially when the statistics show otherwise
Actually it's not even subconscious. Women are not as good at driving as men, but men are not as good at multi tasking as women. We all have strengths and weaknesses.
It's actually hard to tell since men drive more on average and a large majority of driving related jobs (truck drivers, delivery, etc.) are performed by men. Additionally, research indicates that women are beginning to close that gap. See here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3286870/

Iโve been to a few stand up comedy bars! Iโve had an overall good time, some people are pretty funny!
But I rarely get offended by strangers. I understand that most people that say fucked up shit either donโt understand how fucked up the thing theyโre saying is or they do understand and are saying it to encourage a reaction. I interpret neither of these things as an attack on my character or anything like that; theyโre not personally offensive.
Most people I interact with are not overtly sexist though, even at comedy bars. My whole goal with commenting on this post was to voice my discontent with the overtly sexist material. See, used to want to live in your world. I used to be on team "jokes that are at the expense of a class of people who could not leave that class if they chose to, are objectively harmful". So that rules out gender, race, disability, and a few other categories of jokes.

This ends up being a pretty bad mindset and I think if everyone had it, the world would be pretty mundane and tedious. The world is dark and mean, and we all have small and large conflicts constantly. We're allowed to reconcile with reality through humor, that's ok.
Having this mindset in a world where most don't is even worse, because you are constantly surrounded by things you consider immoral, and fighting that internal conflict constantly is exhausting.
There are more important battles to have anyways. Climate change, domestic violence, police brutality, teachers wages, the list goes on. There is a lot you should put your effort into, a few hundred people on reddit laughing at a poorly written 'girls r bad driver' joke isn't worth it

Probably could hit better playing on the 'don't read instructions' sterotype. Part of the hit of this joke is that you don't expect him to say, "So I crashed the car."
The "dad joke" is thematic. It doesn't simply list a couple of old stereotypes about a gender and make them into a joke like the one you created. It shocks you into a laugh by saying something a reasonable person wouldn't expect to be said next. The stereo-types are really an afterthought to the original joke, not the point of the joke.
Neither of those definitions fit what happened in the video. Dunno how you can determine any "hatred" and even if someone DID believe men are better at driving, that doesn't mean they believe men are better overall.

I just think it sucks that people make fun of me based on my gender for things like driving. Now that I stopped to think about this I feel that joking about negative stereotypes is just generally mean thing to do even if it would be funny to some. I can see how these kind of jokes can easily hurt someones feelings so why do it. Joking about positive stereotypes on the other hand are more likely to be funny even to the 'target' group but those are not completely safe ether.
So if I would joke about stereotypes I would go with the positive ones every time. It's too risky for me to joke around them otherwise and especially if I'm not even included in the negative stereotype.
But yeah, I didn't find these jokes funny but I didn't get offended by them. They were just old and kinda dumb.

Idk, I guess that the reason I don't find it funny is because the stereotype of women being bad at driving is actually the opposite of the truth.
Women have lower insurance premiums because they don't crash as much. Granted past a certain age, men and women pay similar rates.
But the data show that on average, women are safer drivers, so this joke is as funny to me as a person saying "my friend told me to be more conservative, so I went and got educated" and laughing uncontrollably.

I dunno about everyone arguing about statistics in here. None of you ever had to sit in the car with your granma? Your mom? Younger sister? Girlfriends? It's not really a question of who's better or worse at driving. It's annoying to be criticized when you're the driver when you know full well what the other person's version of "safe" is. Driving slow, being passive, stopping at yellow lights. Pretty innocuous stuff. But my guess is more men would be irritated by this stuff than women. And more women would be irritated by the opposite.
So the joke is more about how men tend to perceive their partner's driving rather than how women as a whole actually drive in general.
My mom is a very safe driver and hasn't had a serious accident the whole time I've been alive. My Dad has been in many. But he's the better driver between the two of them. Why? He drives way more than her. Like in the magnitude of 100 times. Any time we went anywhere as a family they would fight about his driving. Basically just because they had two very different concepts about what safe driving felt like.

Look at the divorce rate, it's easier and more prevalent than it has ever been. If you genuinely hate your wife, as I had said as a hyperbole to explain the trope of a husband talking to his friends like his wife is such a nuisance, then why would you stay with them? Nah. I'm not. I've been on the road more than most people and have seen plenty to make my hypothesis. I've been hit by four women actually but only caused damage twice. But I have almost been hit by several others. Women get distracted easier on the road than men, because women are better multi taskers than men, it is harder for them to focus on one thing at a time. Men cause more severe accidents because they are more reckless, but women get in more fender benders than men. But my opinion is valid regardless of how you feel.

No. Misogyny is real. Patriarchy is real. I didn't say all men do these things. I'm saying that when these things happen, it can often be traced back to patriarchal societal norms (sometimes in the direct ways I cited, and other times less direct).
For example, my husband doesn't do these things. And I'll be the first to admit that he's a better driver than me (because he's taken racing lessons), but we both have impeccable driving records. And the ways that I've ever been passive aggressive or silent about my anger in my marriage are not his fault, but still a result of thousands of years of Patriarchy telling women to shut up, we're too emotional. My personal primary source was my dad. And I've since been working on rewriting that wiring, with my husband being the one to help me see that it was actually the Patriarchy making me feel like it wasn't ok to express my needs and emotions.

But you can't use a sample size of four as justification for your opinions on all women drivers. That's a terrible sample size.
Also, the more you talk about your experience, the more you show subconscious bias. A woman broke your back and caused you immense pain, so of course you seek out proof of your opinion. Never mind the thousands of women who drive past you daily with no issues though..
It sucks that you've had so many accidents but it doesn't automatically mean that women are bad drivers. Especially when the statistics show otherwise

Iโve been to a few stand up comedy bars! Iโve had an overall good time, some people are pretty funny!
But I rarely get offended by strangers. I understand that most people that say fucked up shit either donโt understand how fucked up the thing theyโre saying is or they do understand and are saying it to encourage a reaction. I interpret neither of these things as an attack on my character or anything like that; theyโre not personally offensive.
Most people I interact with are not overtly sexist though, even at comedy bars. My whole goal with commenting on this post was to voice my discontent with the overtly sexist material. I think itโs shitty and harmful. It doesnโt โoffendโ me. I just understand that itโs indirectly harmful to people I care about, so I voice my concern.

Probably could hit better playing on the 'don't read instructions' sterotype. Part of the hit of this joke is that you don't expect him to say, "So I crashed the car."
The "dad joke" is thematic. It doesn't simply list a couple of old stereotypes about a gender and make them into a joke like the one you created. It shocks you into a laugh by saying something a reasonable person wouldn't expect to be said next. The stereo-types are really an afterthought to the original joke, not the point of the joke.
