Legend tells of a legendary Mormon, whose testimony was the stuff of legend. He traveled to and from the ward in which he lived. He was on his way to sacrament meeting when he encountered an ex-mormon who informed him of different first vision accounts. The legendary Mormon cried, and then he prayed, and then he spoke: โGET THEE HENCE STAN!โ
He stayed close to church-approved sources, read his scriptures daily, and bore his testimony to every man, woman, and child who crossed him. Facts could not dissuade him, scientific truths could not move him, undisputed counter-evidence did not affect him, and doctrinal contradictions could not make his legendary Mormon mind think. For he was a true Mormon, and he had never masturbated.

Never before had a Mormon been so faithful and so worthy! Even the most righteous men in all of Salt Lake City, the first presidency bowed in respect to this great priesthood holder *Oaks- "We should give you a second anointing"- but his second anointing would have to wait, because when you're facing the 10,000 anti-Mormon lies of secular society there is only one thing that matters, and that's... WAKE UP! We have to clean the ward building!

No joke, in the MTC we were told that if ANYONE objects to us all we had to do is get in our CAR (testify of Christ Appstacy Restoration) and no one would be able to fight against it.
We at it up. And I kept the philosophy while on the mission.
I cringe thinking of similar things. Now I realize people didnโt argue back because you made it very clear you were not capable of a real conversation and werenโt worth their time.
My believing Dad would always tell me that if somebody wanted to argue about religion you just bare your testimony and there is no way they can argue that. I always thought that was a profound statement.
Now... I realize That it's hard to argue anybody's subjective opinion of belief. No matter what that belief is. You can argue whether the way they have obtained that belief is a reliable way of obtaining truth though.
