Showerthought: Joseph was a home-schooled/avid reader, complemented on intellect couldn't write BOM. Nephi no schooling, less-advanced civilization had no problem writing it so Joseph could translate later. Love how Apologetics' response is Joseph was a Fucking Moron and couldn't write a book.

Exactly!

TBM: "How could Joseph Smith an uneducated farm boy write the Book of Mormon?"

There are 4 misrepresentations in this sentence.

Uneducated: Joseph was not uneducated, he was home schooled. This should be offensive to every Mormon family that home schools their children. Joseph Smith Senior had been a school teacher and both him and Lucy Mack home taught the family. Joseph was well versed in the Bible and could memorize large sections of it. He was also Methodist Exhorter for a short period in his teen years (Fawn Brodie). He could not write very well (maybe dyslexia), but he was a gifted public speaker. Both Emma Hale and Oliver Cowdery who also wrote sections of the BoM were school teachers and Cowdery went to Dartmouth College.

Farm - at the time of the writing of the BoM Joseph was no longer doing farm work and did not live in Palmyra, he was a treasure hunter just before the BoM was composed.

Boy - Joseph was born in 1805, the BoM was published in 1830, it was composed when he was married to Emma and 22-24 years old, definitely not a boy.

Write - This is a logical fallacy because it assumes there are only 2 choices 1) Joseph either wrote the BoM or 2) he didn't and the BoM came from God. However, Joseph Smith didn't write the BoM, Oliver Cowdery wrote almost all of the BoM. I believe that the BoM was a group effort among several people, Joseph Smith (many stories), Sidney Rigdon (mostly doctrine), Parley P Pratt, and Oliver Cowdery (almost everything else).

I say these things in the name of Joshua, Awmen.

Joseph was so dumb he could not have written it. So there go, that is the reason he plagiarized it.

Boom goes the dynamite.

My response is: this just goes to show how important it is for people to be homeschooled.

Neither Joseph Smith nor Nephi could have completed their great work if they had attended evolution-loving, god-hating, sex-ed-teaching public schools.

I am the Lord thy God. Your ways are not my ways.

right - so let's say Joseph DID translate an ancient record - well, Nephi sounds like a prick :). and they only brought one bow and arrow but PLENTY of shit to write/engrave with? "and my father dwelt in a tent . . .with a library in it" "we did live upon raw meat . . . which we ate while Nephi wrote in his journal" "we were about to be swallowed up in the depths of the sea" but Nephi hid the records so Laman and Lemual never tossed them out. Come on, the first thing that laman and lemual would have done to Nephi is read his diary and tease him about it. possibly throwing part of it in the hot hot fire with bellows that they made steel from. nonsense!!!
