Maybe they were all standing on the same side but one of those two guys on the left had the bright idea of counter balancing the weight of the boat since they only had two buckets anyway. That lifted the one end out of the water a bit making it temporarily higher than the ocean until they remove more water from the boat. He then made a funny joke to lighten the mood and raise moral for the whole crew especially those working on removing the water.
Whomever was the quick thinker on the left probably saved everyone. Probably did more to save everyone than... Jesus Christ himself.

hahah! That is definitely the explanation. Thanks for figuring that out for me!
The other apostle should have a speech bubble wherein he is (in a veiled way made to sound like loving counsel) chiding them for not working harder to earn the blessings that await them...
I'm loving this picture because of the variety of possible interpretations. It doesn't need to be apostles at the top; it can just be members who aren't personally troubled by current issues in the church.
The church is misogynistic? I'm sure glad the hole isn't over here in my priesthood quorum.
The church is homophobic? I'm sure glad the hole isn't over here among us straight folk.
The church is racist? I'm sure glad the hole isn't over here among us white folk.
The church is nationalist/ethnocentrist? I'm sure glad the hole isn't over here among us Americans.
The church is anti-intellectual? I'm sure glad the hole isn't over here among us blue-collar workers.
The church preaches the prosperity gospel? I'm sure glad the hole isn't here among us comfortably middle-class dentists and chiropractors and bankers and lawyers, etc.
Polygamy is vile? I'm sure glad the hole is just in the past or among the FLDS, and isn't affecting us modern mainstream Mormons.
It's like the quote about how they came for the socialists, the Jews, etc., and I said nothing because it didn't affect me. But then it starts affecting you later. Everyone suffers when the boat goes down, but it's so easy to ignore the problems that don't seem imminent. Climate change is raising sea levels? Sure glad I don't live in Houston or New Orleans (or worse, the Maldives). Complacency is the problem.

I got out of the Mormon Boat a while ago. I'm now in the Heathen Hammock.

Does it bother anyone else that the water level is higher in the boat than in the actual ocean/lake?

It's cuz there is more shit in the church than out of it.

/u/vin1616 is right. It was full of shit before the rest of the world started pointing out the other shit-problems it had.

They're bailing water so fast that it's creating a siphoning effect. It's all very scientific.

Don't bring science into Mormonism!

They tipped the boat up on one end, and all the water pooled up deeper than if the boat had remained level. Science. No go back to church.

Has anyone else ever realized that Peter, in order to come to understand Jesus, had to get OUT of the boat? Just an interesting thought.

I wonder why cult leaders are telling everyone to stay in and grab their buckets? I hope they (cult leaders) all metaphorically drown.
