No, he's said in a video years ago that he lives near Quebec in Canada and that his family is French Canadian. It must be horrible to have a youtube channel based around a language that he didn't speak while growing up. He actually speaks french in one of his old Mindcrack videos and it's insane how elegant and beautifully he pronounces everything, especially after only hearing him speak in English all these years. It's at this beginning of this one

As a Canadian, I can hear some kind of strong accent from the prairie provinces (Alberta/Saskatchewan possibly?), especially in the earlier videos. To me, he doesn't have a very "urban" sounding accent.
There was a joke a while ago. Some YouTube comment. It said that 'if I ever came across someone who I think is Etho, I would ask him what comes out of a volcano'. And that person said it because of Etho's pronunciation of 'lava'. He calls it 'layva'
I loved an episode where he had to read "Deutschland" as in Germany, but instead he read it as "Dutch-land". That had me laughing for a while.

I like how there is a strong comment above about French Canadian being his first language, and just a couple of comments below a comment stating that it is nonsense and Eglish is his first language.

Omg I remember one LP episode he told us a whole story about his pronunciation of lava , and how he watched a documentary on it , uge the memories

It's total nonsence. Eglish is his first language. He can't speak French or any other language. And I love him anyway.
