I worked at a Harbor Freight (cheap tool store) a few years back and I would regularly get guys come in and pay for their stuff with 2 dollar bills. One day, one of the guys asked me if I knew why he has so many 2 dollar bills. I said no but he's not the first guy I've seen with them. He told me that it's what the ATM at the local strip club gives out and he needs to hide the evidence before his wife finds out.

I had received a few of them as change not long ago. I later tried to use them at a convenience store and the cashier wouldn't take them, claimed they were fake and there was no such thing as a 2 dollar bill. That was a frustrating purchase experience.
Which is the right thing to do if she's unsure. I had cashiers check things like that with me back in my pizza shop days, much better for them to get a second opinion than to take a fake note or whatever.
Which is outrageous that they still have anyone use the marker for verification. My work has us check $10 notes upwards with the collar, with the light, etc. The marker is just an afterthought.
Maybe they don't anymore, I haven't worked in fast food in about 3 years. I remember having to mark it and then even if it passed, take it to a manager and have then verify it. Took forever and he customer was always annoyed.
To be completely honest I don't even see people check bills at other places. I've seen a Wal-Mart employee just accept a $100 bill with no questions or checking it at all multiple times. It just puzzles me since when I'm on register, if I am short or over I get reamed. I can't imagine how many fake bills some places take and just brush off.

Will turn a certain color on normal paper and another color on paper money. The material used to make money is really specific. Issued to spot counterfeit bills.
Police called = campus security was nearby. Bill passed the fake dollar marker test. Seems like the only thing they did wrong was keep her from her lunch one day. I would be more angry I didn't get my nuggets and not angry that they just thought my money was fake!
Look officer, they go to school there every day, if it turns out to be fake I'm sure there's some way they can withhold grades for a bit (not forever) to attempt to get the two bucks back. If it's a recurring thing, then maybe check to see if the student is running a fake two dollar bill scheme.
In the meantime, the police (who apparently didn't have much else to do that day) went to the convenience store where Joseph was given the bill. They also took the bill to a local bank where it was eventually determined to be real. Phony crisis averted.
You have to accept US currency for debts, if the debtor wishes to pay in US currency. However a sale is not a debt, it is a brief contract. The seller is not required to complete the sale if terms can not be negotiated to complete the sale. Those terms can include refusing to accept certain denominations of bills(no bills over 20), or refusing to accept US currency at all, instead requiring payment in chickens to complete the sale. This only becomes illegal if you are denying only some people the ability to pay with US currency, for the reason that they are in a protected class(not letting black people pay with money because they are black).

"Reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" is on most doors. As long as it's not racist or sexist or ?handicapist? Or other protected categories, you can refuse any money. Woman pulling out soggy bra money? No thank you.
Here, I'll give you one of these. It's definitely worth more than your paltry little twenty. I just don't have time to take it to a rare currency dealer and sell it for what it's worth.
Well it's green so it's clearly weed, and since it's a 2 it much be 2lbs of weed. Therefore they're selling 2lbs for $300 /s <obviously I have no damn clue I'm just marking this up as I go along>

Whenever $2 bills come up I have to relay the story where Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, had $2 bill sheets from the mint cut into gummed pads so he can peel bills off like pages in a notebook. Apparently he took this out in Vegas and the casino staff didn't enjoy his little prank so much and called in the Secret Service to question him.
When my dad was in the Air Force, long before debit cards and back in a time when people mainly used cash, the air base conducted a PR stunt to show the people in the nearby town how much they relied on the base economically. So for one paycheck, they paid everyone who worked there in cash, in $2 bills.
In the next few days the town was flooded with $2 bills, making it easy to see how much business was coming directly from the base.
There's a theater here in my city that always has a stack of $2 bills for change. Very not rare. If dude can dupe some poor idiot into paying $300 though, good for him
Try that shit in Louisville and you will get so laughed at. The horse tracks love 'em because the lowest bet is $2 on a horse. The one time a cashier gave me grief I felt sorry for him.
