/u/JoeCool888 didn't mean throat voice, he meant falsetto (incorrectly called head voice). But throat singing does exist.

The technique involved is quite different and generally involves mechanics similar to pitched growling (not quite the same as death metal, but I imagine there are some metal singers that impart very similar technique).

EDIT: People often mistake head voice for falsetto, therefore I said "informally". This was a poor choice of wording. I have changed it to "incorrectly" to be more accurate. Pedantic vocal pedagogy aside, I promise I went to school for nearly 6 years for this shit. :-P

Falsetto's slightly different to head voice. Falsetto sounds slightly more... "airy", and a little bit weaker.

Head voice is the upper end of the normal vocal range. Falsetto is actually an effect caused by your vocal cords folding over to create higher, purer tones. It's not necessarily airy but it is inherently weaker because it's higher pitches made with much less stuff vibrating.

As a bass, falsetto is the only way I can hit any notes in the entire chorus, not just the high note. And that's before the key change.

That's not throat voice. Throat voice is somewhat the opposite and tends to inflect a gravelly and/or monstrous quality, neither feminine nor ordinarily high-pitched.

Some throat singing can be used to produce two notes simultaneously, where the resonating one is always at least an octave higher than the one you're humming. Because physics.

It's also a lot easier than you might think to start making two notes at the same time. The hard part is changing them and making a tune.

In "What's" the 's can be short for was or is as the last letter in both of those is s.

"What's" is a valid contraction for "what was", "what is", "what has", and probably more. You have to figure out what one based on context.
