It is very difficult. I have got 0% on a 140 question test and to be honest I used the odds and luck with some of the more abstruse spacial awareness questions.
One of my college professors would give someone 100 percent on an exam if they scored a zero, mostly because you still need to know the answer to every question confidently to take the risk of accidentally getting a few right and getting a super low score.
Edit: basically, if you can fill in every answer on a 50+ answer test and not get a single one correct, you were either incredibly lucky or knew your stuff. On the flip side, if you even got 1/50 correct, you were assigned that score.
My highschool Social Studies teacher did that aswell, but if you got one right then you took the real mark. It was risky, I never attempted it but a couple of my friends did and ended up with a few 8% marks.
That's the point. You only get full points if every answer is wrong. If you add a question that can't be wrong then you screw over the students who try to game it. Well, at least the students who aren't clever enough to leave it blank.

spades you dont want points (low score wins) unless you can get all the points (in on hand) and screw everyone else to a tune of 26 (i think)

That sounds like hearts, low score wins and some certain combination gives you a zero for the round or like a minus something points, I don't remember specifically, it's been 20 years since I played default windows games.
Firesky7 ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 18:34:50 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah, it's hearts. Spades is a bidding game where you try to get tricks, which is completely different.
iSage ยท 18 points ยท Posted at 17:59:19 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Pretty sure that's Hearts still. You want to avoid getting the hearts (1 point each x 13) and the queen of spades (13 points) but if you manage to grab them all you 'shoot the moon' and score 0 points while everyone elaw gets your 26 points.
Spades is a betting game, based of guessing how many tricks (hands) you will take in the round. You play teamed up with the person across from you. Spades trump and will always take the hand regardless of the leading suit.

There's a free to play game called puzzle pirates that has all kinds of pub games, they have poker, spades, hearts, I think black jack as well. There's also a bunch of other fun puzzle games and you get to be a pirate.
I actually used to play this a lot but it seemed to die out a little while ago. Has it made any sort of a big comeback? Honestly never thought I'd see someone ever mention that game outside of it.

I had a Chemistry teacher who did that, and I actually went for it. I got a 0/25 on the multiple choice section, but she gave me partial credit for the short answer section, even though I had gotten every answer wrong there too. I was pretty salty about it.
Yeah, it makes a lot more sense for multiple choice than short or long answer, especially when professors do partial credit.

I'm guessing leaving the questions blank is not allowed if you are trying to do this, or else everyone could just leave every question blank and get a 100%
16 year old me didn't realize that my teacher would be enough of a dick that putting down a relevant equation in the writing space and then getting the question entirely wrong would be enough to not count as getting everything wrong.
Yeah nah thats pretty standard grading. Sometimes in my exams I just jot down a lot of equations, hope one of them is right, and move on.

Of course if you are 100% sure you know all the answers, you can get 100 either way. So the only way you'd improve your score is if you aren't sure on at least one question and take the 75% chance of getting it wrong vs the 25% chance of getting it right (if you have four choices). But you risk scoring a single digit score vs high 90s, and if you are guessing on more than 4% of the test the odds are no longer in your favor. That's interesting but not really ever worth it.

Isn't that what gives the Force to living things? I could have sworn that's what those were.
This seems like bad logic though. Assuming a 4 answer multiple choice test, you have 3x as likely of a chance to get it wrong than to get it right. All you have to do is identify 1 of 3 of the wrong answers and you're golden.
Yeah but I feel like you can get away with this method a lot easier if you knew 80% of the content than you would trying to get a 100%. From experience, I could always identify the wrong answers and narrow it down to a 50-50. To avoid that risk you just pick the obviously wrong answers.
This would be a lot more difficult in a quantitative and step intensive test where the answers literally could all be possible answers assuming the professor designed the test such that if you make any common mistake along the way, the final answer would appear as a choice.
I'm only in disbelief because I've heard of the urban legend of some guy who got a 2200/2400 on his SATs and retook it to get the lowest possible score including quarter point deductions and wrote about that score in his essays and apparently got into MIT. Using this as a frame of reference, on the SATs it's much harder to identify the correct answer than it is to eliminate wrong answers because there's usually an obviously wrong answer choice.
A lot of tests also have some true false questions sprinkled in so all it would take is one where you don't know and it becomes a 50/50 guess where it you choose wrong you lose all your points

I was an insufferable little shit in my high school geometry class. My specialty was doing the proofs in the most roundabout way that takes up half the page. At first, my teacher thought it was funny but that wore off fast and soon, he stopped calling on me to do the proof on the backboard because I was "confusing other kids." Anyway, he gave us a quiz and the last bonus question was "Will juicius get a 100% on this test?" I was pretty sure I would, but I answered No. Turns out, I did get 1 question wrong.
But I got the bonus question right, making my grade back up to 100%
Which would make my answer to the bonus question wrong, dropping my site to 90%
And so on.
In the end, he just gave everyone the bonus point, except me...
In my experience taking multiple choice tests you only vaguely need to know your shit. Unless your teacher is one of those who makes it "all answers are right, but one of them is more right than others" in which case fuck that teacher regardless.
Then when was the last time you did MCQ? In uni they're ALL "here's one wrong answer and three or four pretty right ones but choose the MOST correct one"
Mark the correct option/options
a) Description from the book
b) Description from the folder
c) The description she made on class
d) All the above are wrong
e) a) b) c) are right
f) Description that combines all three
You had to mark only f else you got it wrong, even if you marked all the ones that were correct
Aside from being ballsy to get 100% all or nothing, I don't know. I think to some of the students in the intro GE class that it was (PoliSci), maybe they thought it'd be easier to get a zero since the had a 3/4 chance of guessing a wrong answer on a question they didn't know. But I don't remember anyone actually attempting a zero.
One of my professors did this as well. As far as I know, though, no one ever dared to try it so we don't know if they'd have upheld it. The trick is that on a 100-question quiz, the odds are that you will accidentally get at least one answer right. So to score a 0%, you would have to know the material and consciously choose all the wrong answers (or be both incredibly dumb and incredibly lucky).
yaosio ยท -1 points ยท Posted at 16:15:56 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
If each question has 4 possible answers that means you have a 75% chance to get each question wrong by answering at random. This means on a 100 answer test you have a 175% chance of getting every answer wrong.
It's not that unbelievable at all... It's actually pretty smart. It's at no risk to the the teacher, and by far most students wouldn't attempt it because if you messed up you fail the test. It's really just a challenge with a very high risk with a high reward. Not worth it in my opinion, but having the option doesn't hurt anyone.
Ok. Love to see them explain it when their marks are reviewed. Oh wait, they don't, because no one actually does that.
Bergys ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:34:46 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
It's because you dont understand probability. Let's say there's a test with 100 questions of multiple choice. If you dont know the answer you have a 75% chance of getting it wrong. Let's say you know 90 of the questions and your uncertain of the last 10. You'd have a 5% chance to get a perfect score and a 95% chance to get failed. Obviously someone who knows 90% of the test is already way beyond passing. What about someone who knows 60% of the test? He'd have a 0.000001 chance of passing. That means that on average if 1000000 students attempted it (that knew 60%) one person would get a 100% and the rest would get a 0. Since most people understand this, it's not hard at all to explain in any reasonable school.
What I also understand is lecturers and teachers are reviewed by peers on their test scores.
I also understand it looks fucking bad giving someone full marks who get no answer correct and an explanation of "Well they must have known the real answers in order to get them all wrong" is fucking farcical.
You don't give full marks to someone who got it all wrong. Thats just ridiculous and any lecturer or teacher who ACTUALLY did that (as opposed to saying they did as a laugh) is being woefully unprofessional.
Bergys ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 17:34:02 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
We're not talking about regional tests and higher education here. In lower level education and less significant tests there isn't any peer review unless a student disputes it. Might be different depending on where you are from and in that case things might be different.
Why am I here arguing the stupidity of giving someone 100% for getting all the answers wrong?
Why is this even up for debate? Its fucking stupid.
Bergys ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 17:42:01 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Not really. Seems like a fun thing that might motivate some students to try and learn all the material and try to go for the all answers wrong just to say they did it. For everyone else it doesn't matter because let's be real, noone is going to take the chance.
Or...if you know it all...try and get them all right and...also get 100%.
You literally have nothing to gain.
Next time I'm with my mates who teach I'm gonna see what their reaction to this idea is, I just can't fathom a teacher genuinely doing this and thinking, "This is a good idea".
Bergys ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:54:20 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

yaosio ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:11:06 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
I would just answer every question with "SEGA!" If it were multiple choice I would just pick an answer not on the test. If I was giving a test I would have a question with only correct answers.
[deleted] ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 15:09:30 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
I understand it this way: the teacher told the students that if they can successfully score zero on a test while answering all of the questions, he would give them a perfect score. To get zero on the test meant that they actually knew all of the correct answers and intentionally scored zero (on a multiple choice paper a zero might be difficult to manage). A student could also try this if they weren't sure of one or two answers but were 100% sure of the rest - instead of 95% they could get 100% - but this would run the risk of the student receiving 5% or so if they accidentally answered a single question correctly. A gamble.
I guess I'm in the top 81% then because I don't get it.

The Spark used to have an IQ test that slowly started asking questions that were opinions followed by questions that started repeating. Your IQ was judged on how quickly you closed the window. My dad crushed it, scored like a 180 declaring it a BS test.
My GF at the time? Called me 4 hours later asking if she left to get dinner it would remember where she was because she'd answered like 240 questions so far.
That's how some teacher at my HS graded, according to his. I know it sounds like bullshit and even I don't know how the school let him do it, but if you managed to get a 0% on a quiz or test or something, he'd give you a 100%. I don't think anyone was able to get a 0%; they would have to keep their low grade if they didn't get a 0.

While I am sure most of those people were lying, or tricked by a substandard test, it is worth noting that the sample size of "people online" is so big that it could easily appear skewed.
First off, most people who have that 110-115 IQ range, have very little reason to ever know they are. They are just on the smart side of normal. Normally only people who are exceptionally bright, or exceptionally dumb have reason to take the actual tests.
Then on top of that, it's very possible to have people of that 140+ IQ range seem over represented. Someone who has an IQ in the 140-145 range is roughly 1 out of 1000 people. That isn't actually that rare. Even a smaller suburb town of 30,000 will have 30 people that would qualify.
People tend to think of the people with huge IQs as super geniuses working in labs somewhere, and that just isn't the case. They can be, and are more likely to be, but all having a high IQ means is that you are good at learning.
[deleted] ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 17:52:20 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

I think I scored 143 on the gifted test in middle school but I swear I'm like average to stupid nowadays.
The problem with these scores is that they aren't standardized. Mensa and other high IQ societies go by your percentile rank, since there are several official IQ tests. Assuming these scores are from Weschler, the most common test, Mensa is actually much easier to get into than 145. They accept you if you are 2 standard deviations above 100, so 130 IQ, or the 98th percentile. That means roughly 1 in 50 people would qualify for Mensa.
There are more restrictive high IQ societies though. 145 is 3 standard deviations above, and the 99.9th percentile, so 1/1000 people. Far more impressive of a score. 140 on the Weschler is pretty impressive, but by no means super genius. Think of the kids at the top of your high school class and they probably had IQs in this range.
Am0s ยท 9 points ยท Posted at 18:39:09 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
I'd like to point out that the reason 1/50 would get in to mensa isn't because it's supposed to be super geniuses, but just the "top 2%" which is 1/50
Honestly, high school scores very rarely correlate to genius. Top of the class in science-based university studies on the other hand..
The best-performing girl in my school the last ~5 years is one of the most sheltered kind of stupid people I know. At the absolute most 110 IQ, but a really, really hard worker.
Yeah, it's not the most accurate way to think of it, but I figured that it would be a roughly accurate anecdotal way of looking at it. Assuming there is a class size of 500 students, you should have about 2 people with an IQ above 140. Depending on demographics and circumstance, there could be several more than that.
Also, I worded it poorly, but I meant you should think of the "smartest" kids in your high school class, not necessarily the one with the highest GPA. A lot of people with high IQ's have deficits in other areas, so a high GPA isn't the same as high IQ. One of the kids from my school in this intelligence range dropped out in 11th grade, for example.
I guess my point is that 140+ isn't genius level and that it isn't necessarily your valedictorian, but is more like "that really smart kid in math class" level.
Closed world view, knows nothing except schoolwork. She isn't stupid in the unintelligent type of way, she just doesn't know a lot. Being smart is part genetics and part hard work. She makes up for her lack of brilliance by working three times as hard. 110 IQ in a Natural Sciences class is probably middle-of-the-pack or slightly lower.

People can certainly fail the test they give, but the vast majority pass. Not necessarily because they want to collect those sweet sweet membership dues, but rather just because 2% isn't all that rare and there is a selection bias. The bottom 40/50 would probably never bother in the first place, just because it's not the sort of thing they find interesting. It has a selection bias.

My childhood/teenage best friend had an IQ of around 75. He functioned well enough (he graduated highschool and enjoyed reading/writing) until he was alone in the real world.

I was A/B student in honor classes and I got a 75 on an online IQ test. I thought the test was wack but as I get older I'm starting to think maybe it was accurate.
A friend of mine scored, like, a 94, and it was the exact same test as the one posted here. I felt so embarrassed for her (on her behalf, she doesn't understand how IQ tests work and thus didn't understand that a 94 could not mean that she was smarter than more than 50% of the population).
BergenNJ ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:47:54 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
94% is a dull normal really is not that bad. She would be valedictorian in most inner city schools.
It wasn't the score I was embarrassed about, more the fact that the automated message declared her to be better than at least 60% of the population. 94 is not a terrible IQ score, but better than average it is not.
Aren't there websites with IQ tests that tell you that you got a certain high score but as a joke, when you post them online, the number is much much lower? If those don't exist, they should because that's hilarious.
right I didn't see that on the pic, I just saw people in the comment section saying "top 81 percentile", which as I said would make her smarter than 8 out of 10 people, but the picture clearly says "19 percentile" making her "smarter" than 1.9 out of 10 people lol
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 15:43:09 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Top 81% means she is within the top 81% of people. That is, up to 81% of people have a higher "iq" that her - or at least scored higher on whatever bullshit fake test she took. If she was in the top 19%, that would mean that 81% of people ranked below her.
I didn't examine the picture before I commented, but now I see it clearly says "19 percentile"
So yes, 8 out of 10 people would be smarter than her, but if it said top 81% then what I said would've been right. top never refers to the bottom. if you are in the top 99% percentile of something, it means you are better than 99% of people not the otherway around.
In this case yes it means she is dumb tho
[deleted] ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 15:52:08 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
No, if you are in the top 99% that means of you divided the population into 2 groups, one comprising the bottom 1% and the other comprising the remaining 99%, you belong to the second group - the top 99%. It means that the best you can say is that 1% of people rank below you.
The top 1% implies 99% of people rank lower (hence where the term "the 1%" comes from when talking about wealth inequality)
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 15:56:32 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
yeah actually I was having a dumbass moment top 1% means you're better than 99% of people. if you're in the "top" 99% then you're in the complete bottom. Top just wouldn't be a very good way of wording it
[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:55:24 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Haha yeah, nobody would ever word it that way unless you're trying to make it sound positive.
Top = top. Top 80% means that there are 20% of people below you on the test, which is what he said. Top 99% means 1% are below you, which is what you said.
What OP said, though, is that she's in the top 19% because 81% of people are above her - that's obv wrong.
[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:04:04 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
The original comment, which he has apparently deleted, and which he said would have been "right" if she had said "top 80%" was that top 80% means you're smarter than 80% of people which is not correct under any circumstances.
No it means that she and the rest of the top 81% scored her score or higher.
think of it as top 81 out of 100. If she had scored the best she would be the top 1% (number one out of one hundred) but if she had come last she would be 100/100 and in the top 100%.
Zinki_M ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 15:46:53 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
no, "top 81%" means "not within the bottom 19%", which means 19% of people have a lower IQ than her. She is within the bottom fifth of the population in terms of IQ (according to that test).
The irony of being top 81% of anything means you aren't the "Top."
In this case you either want to be the average or a really low percentage. Average being average intelligence. Ranges from 95 to 105 I believe in the US. Or a really low percentage ranging from 106 to 140 bordering "Genius" level of intelligence.
As weird as this sounds, being a part of the "20%" is like being part of the lower class. Not a great direct example. If a majority of America is middle class, that would be the average.
Edit: Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly, have not yet had my coffee today.

That's so crushing to think about. If she's gonna be the bottom one or two in brains I hope she can make up for it in other ways. Like maybe she's great at carpentry.

It's not like an online iq test is reliable or valid in any way though. An actual iq test is proctored and doesn't take fifteen minutes lmao.

When one of these was going around facebook, I noticed a certain circle of friends all posting IQs in the 130s. So I took it. Honest effort came back in the 140s. I decided to play with it a little. Guessed B for everything. 130 something. Again. Randomly selected answers. High 120s. Again. Deliberately got most of the questions wrong. Something like 115.
The test is meaningless. If anything, it adds 40 points to your score.
Which means, if she scored an 88... yeah I'm not sure how she spelled anything.
Omg at my dad's work about 10 years ago, he told me a story about how they took some kind of test and half the shop was arguing about how to solve this problem. My dad knew the answer and had to explain it to them.

One time I took a shitty 15 minutes IQ test and got the exact score I got on a real proctored one. And I think my score on the OK Cupid IQ test was also within 2 points.
That's not true it's just a specific tool that should be applied in a specific circumstance. It doesn't give a direct answer to how intelligent someone is but it provides insight into their thought process. There's a reason it's been a standard in the psychology community since its inception.
Can you elaborate on what exactly the test gives an insight into? If it is not a valid reflection of intelligence, what exactly does an IQ test say about someone's thought processes? Legitimately curious. I've heard that the test score is basically just an indicator of class.
The definition of intelligence is a fluid and subjective thing which is why I said it's not the best indicator of intelligence. It's an excellent indicator of classroom intelligence or "book smarts" and while there is definitely an element of class or racial bias it's not significant enough to invalidate the test. I'm in the field of education but I'm still relatively new to it so I can't provide the answer you're looking for competently but there is a reason the test is administered and there is a use for the score, that does not mean that someone who scores a 160 is going to be the next Einstein but it's a lot more likely that someone with a 160 will be than someone with a 100.

this is to make the user like the website more and prefer to use the website.
How many people take IQ tests on the regular? Why would they care about repeat users. If anything I'd think they'd give people high IQ scores to make them feel smarter than their friends so then they challenge them to prove they're right
Those websites usually have a whole bunch of different "tests", so if you like one you might stick around for another, or even come back for more later.
They aren't going for repeat users. They're going for people being proud of their score and posting it on facebook, encouraging their friends to take the test.
I did a spelling one last night with multiple choice questions about the spelling of different commonly misspelled words. And in the end it just gave me a screen that said "A+ You spell better than 90% of the population! Click here to post this to your Facebook Timeline!" And I was so pissed, because I just wanted to know what words I had spelled wrong, and I now knew that it probably wasn't even paying attention to what options I was clicking. It just wanted me to get to the end and share my bogus results to drive more traffic to the page.
Yeah, that's what I thought at first, but since the picture itself says 19th percentile I didn't really know. Probably just a click bait from the site. Or maybe just "top 80%" is better than saying "bottom 20%", haha
kihadat ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 14:59:57 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Not sure if anyone will see this, but I'm pretty sure that particular test always scores low, and is meant to troll the users. I haven't seen it go above 100.
"top 81%" is really a crappy design. I don't know if it's oversight from the people who designed the test and thought that anyway, no one would score low, or if they felt like saying "bottom 19%" would be more likely to hurt people's feelings, but it's stupid.
When people see "top", they think they're on the better half. Then they read the percentage, and they think "I'm 81% of the way to the top, I'm more clever than 81% of the rest". I mean, sure they're wrong and they're not understanding it properly, and of course they should know that if you have less than 100 IQ you're by design of the IQ system in the lower half of the population. But the phrase is still misleading. People should use "top 1%" to "top 50%", and below that it should be "bottom 50%" to "bottom 1%".
vexonator ยท 30 points ยท Posted at 15:34:39 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*
It's excellent design for a FaceBook pseudo IQ-test that isn't so much concerned about accuracy as it is with getting more traffic by making everyone feel good about themselves even when they shouldn't. Although it's probably not smart of them to actually tell people they got below 100 in the first place.
Will you explain what top 80% means, I don't understand. I get bottom 20%, but I can't quite grasp what top 80% means.
Edit: nvm, I finally get it! I always see similar posts to what you said when these things pop up. Top 80% means you did better than only 20% of people, which means nothing.
In theory, it means you're among the 80% of the population that score highest. Therefore (in theory) it means that you're NOT in the worst 20% of the population.
Now in practice, they know your exact score. If they could tell you that you're in the top 1% because you're exceptionally good (better than 99% of others), they would. When they tell you you're in the top 80%, it means you're in the top 80% but not in the top 1%, or not in the top 10%. Not even in the top 79%. You're at the bottom of the best 80% of the population. You're better than 20%, worse than 80%.
In the end, in that scenario, being in the top 80% means the same as being in the bottom 20%: you're better than 20%, worse than 80% (plus or minus one percent because of rounding).
cdnball ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 20:01:48 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
the website did neither. it says, 19th percentile. it was her and her 88IQ brain that inferred she was in the "top 81%"
[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:13:34 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
That's how a lot of percentiles are written. For example, if you got a 3.8XX GPA in high school you might be in the top 10% and if you got a 2.XXX you might be in the top 75%. It just means that 75% of people did the same or better than you, but dumb people still won't figure that out.
I understand perfectly what it means. What I'm saying is that if someone scores low on a facebook IQ test, it's realistic to expect that they won't. Saying "top 81%" or "bottom 19%" mean the same thing in that scenario (well actually, it would be "bottom 20%"), both are correct, but the second one is easier to understand to people who aren't good at breaking down somewhat complex phrases.
Of course the two wordings are not always interchangeable. If you say "You're in the top 81%" because you know that she's at least as good as the 81-th percentile, then you can't just switch it out for "bottom x%". Same if you have 5 people: you can say that they're all in the top 81%, but that's a statement on the worst of them (and again he might also be better than the 81-th percentile anyway), while statements about them being in the bottom 19% is a statement among the best of them. Still, in the case of an IQ test, what they mean when they say "you're in the top 81%" is "Your score is right there, on the 81-th percentile", and that is better expressed (imo) as "you're in the bottom 19%".
I think you're overlooking the fact that this lady did exactly what they wanted her to do (share it) despite being dumb as fuck and scoring terribly on their test

Yes, everyone else who shares it writes it in the same way.
That reminds me of when my senior class had the option to take the ASVAB and almost everyone did. When we got our scores, everyone was comparing and checking out what MOS's people were qualified for. My dipshit ex was ecstatic that she was qualified to be a cook even though she had a score which wasn't passing for any branch of service at the time. Somehow she didn't know that she was running around showing people a document of how dumb she was.

There is not passing score to the ASVAB as I remember.
The Marine corps and army will take anything that walks and can pump gas. Stupid is not a problem. There are forrest gump types in the military for real.
33 is the minimum score. Oftentimes Infantry and high demand MOS's are willing to waive the minimum so long as you have a pulse and working brain stem.
Can confirm on the fuelers, they are a special kind of stupid. We had one guy try to fuel our bird with tanks all one side first, then the alternate side. He almost blew the struts out.
Admittedly, a 33 really isn't that huge of a miracle to get. That's basically the bare minimum for "can you follow even basic instruction without literally licking a window" territory
My best friend took the ASVAB once she decided to join the Marine Corps. The Navy and the Air Force recruiters, especially the Navy guy, kinda scoffed at her and dismissed her out of hand because she said the Marines were her main interest.
When she got her results back, the Navy and Air Force guys were basically swarming her asking her to talk to them and give them a chance, while the Marine Corps recruiter was busy, probably doing a victory lap or something.
Not super relevant, but I thought I'd whip my best friend's dick out for funsies.

"The Marine corps and army will take anything that walks and can pump gas."
This hasn't been the case in close to a decade. With the job market belly up and everyone and their brother trying to enlist, all branches have become EXTREMELY selective. When I was at MEPS out of the 200+ people there the only person offered a contract had scored a 97 on the ASVAB.
Brian175 ยท 11 points ยท Posted at 14:39:39 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
I've met someone at a University that didn't have a high enough ASVAB for the military. It's certainly possible not to make the minimum.
I know, I'm a Marine veteran. I never said she "failed" the ASVAB, but we did get our scores and a printed sheet pertaining to what MOS's those scores would open us up to. She would have been considered a category-4.
Reminds me of when I was trying to enlist in the army. Scored 99 on the ASVAB and they were talking about all the amazing jobs I could have. Then they found out that I had been delinquent on a few student loan payments. All of a sudden, total 180 and I couldn't do any job that required security clearance.
The amount of people bragging about getting a 50-60 on the asvab was crazy. I got an 81 and I was taking naps between sections because I didn't sleep the night before.

There's a bounty hunter droid and mean boss in the N64 game Shadows of the Empire named IG-88. You also see it in the line-up of bounty hunters in one of the original films (I think it was Empire).
Not that it matters now, but cannon-wise I don't think the IG-88s (there were more than one of them) were activated until somewhere around a New Hope. I think the story was in one of the Tales of the Bounty Hunters novels.

If I recall correctly, the IG-88 series (each denoted a-d I think), were actually made to be bounty hunters before they turned on their creator.
[deleted] ยท 6 points ยท Posted at 16:21:36 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Yes. They were the successor to the IG-86. The IG-88a went all Skynet when it's creator turned it on. He then activated the 3 other prototypes. He eventually uploaded his consciousness to the Freedom Star II before it was destroyed by terrorists. (This is all non-canon now.)

88 isn't "suuuuper low" either though, it's just below average. It's not super low in the same way 112 isn't "super high."
Then again it probably is quite low for this particular 15-minute facebook IQ test, as it probably skews higher to get people to share the test on their profile (people who get low scores are less likely to advertise to all their friends, so you inflate the score).
Just want to point out that when I watched that movie as a kid, it never really registered with me that Forrest's mom fucks the principal to get him enrolled in the school.
Watching it later as an adult, the loud grunting scene that came immediately after made a lot more sense.
I was confused too. I think it was because I didn't recognise the principal - I thought it was a cut seen to the father who was "on vacation," just walkin' on away after one last passionate night of sex. I was a confused and stupid child. Oh! The things my mom did to get me into a good high school!
I watched it with my students, who are all Chinese, and I think only like 2 of them understood it. One of them just looked at me and said "Oh my God". I asked her what happened and she could explain perfectly.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Borderline Intellectual Functioning mean Borderline non-retardation? Like, you are functioning intellectually, but only barely. And if that's the case, then wouldn't an IQ of 70 and below be considered retardation? She's still 18 points off if that's the case.
Yeah but that book was fiction and also written a while ago about a time period even before that.
You can see here that almost every test puts an IQ of 88 in either the "average", "low average", or "below average" category. Not one puts her in the borderline category.
orthopod ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 14:57:41 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Standard deviation for IQ tests, if I recall correctly, is 15 points. So 67% of the population falls between 85-115.
You guys are speaking two different languages. I'm a clinical psychologist who does neuropsychological testing, so I administer IQ tests very regularly. The score ranges you quoted are indeed the DSM's diagnostic cut offs for mental retardation (now called "intellectual development disorder"). However, those range labels are different than the ones that the test itself generates, which are the ones we use in the world of neuropsychology (where the testing actually takes place). The term "borderline intellectual functioning" is still used for the adult version of the test, but the updated children's version now uses "very low intellectual functioning," and this label will soon be adopted for both tests. The range for that category is indeed still 70-79.
The DSM labels are only used for diagnosis, which is important for acquiring services and for legal reasons (obtaining legal guardianship, for example) but not much else. The labels that the other guy quoted are the ones we actually use when we measure intellectual functioning and make recommendations to treaters/schools/families. So, you are both correct.
Don't really care about the downvotes, and I appreciate the irony of people simply siding with the upvoted guy in a discussion about psychology.
alpha_dk ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:51:47 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Question: I was under the impression that IQ tests were 'graded' on a sliding scale, so that a 100 today is different than a 100 20 years ago. Now, I'm not the least bit knowledgeable, but does that mean that our 'very low intellectual functioning' is someone that might have been normal X years ago?
Yes, IQ scores are based on a normal distribution, so a score of 100 is at the 50th percentile of those who have taken the test. These norms are (somewhat) regularly updated, so the Flynn Effect would indeed suggest that a 100 on today's tests indicates a higher level of cognitive functioning than a 100 on older tests.
Remember, though, that this makes the results of the test completely relative. You can't really say that "someone who took the test back then and scored "low average" may take it now and score "extremely low," because that's disregarding the fact that two such people would have grown up in very different environments and would accordingly have very different cognitive styles. The faster paced nature of the modern world results in people who are able to process information more quickly, and so on.

This is the same test that everyone scores a 160 on and thinks they're Einstein. For someone to score an 88, that means they've gotta be like Forrest Gump-level dumb.
88 isn't "suuuuper low" either though, it's just below average.
It even says in the link she shared that the average IQ in Canada is 99 (although there's no telling if that's accurate). So she's 11 less than what the website says is average, and they still bump up people's numbers to make them look better. Who knows what she's really sitting at.
You're absolutely right. Well within the realm of normal. Obviously this isn't an accurate test, but an IQ of 88 is only .8 standard deviations below the mean. ~33% of people have IQ scores between 85 and 100. Still, you obviously don't want to brag about a below average IQ, but it doesn't mean she's unusually dumb.
Always remember, because it's a normally distributed trait, the mean = median = mode. That means that 50% of people have IQs above 100 and 50% have IQs below 100.
By collecting lots and lots of data. It's obviously impossible to collect data from an entire population, but we know from collecting lots and lots of data that IQ is normally distributed as the more data we collect, the more normal the curve is.
Probably more interesting is what happens when we collect lots of samples. You can take an incredibly skewed variable (say income), and collect lots of samples. If you plot the density of the means of each of those samples, it does something amazing: it normalizes the curve. That's because we're plotting means, and typically the means will be close together. The more samples we collect, the more symmetrical and leptokurtic (tall) that distribution becomes. Once you reach about 30 samples, it's pretty normally distributed. This is known as the central limit theorem.

It's a ratio of the "mental age" of all those her age, which sets the standard for the "mental age" at whatever particular age, compared to her mental age. So if she has the mental age of a 20 year old, and is 25, well 20/25 = .8 * 100 = 80. It is an average. Her IQ in that sense would be 80; her age would be 25, but she might as well be a 20 year old. On the flipside, if my iq was 110, and I was 20 years old, 20* (110/100) = 22- Thus my mental age would theoretically be 22.
(Disclaimer: This is the actual equation i found in a 60 year old encyclopedia on IQ, so it might be outdated, im not sure.)
It's...pretty low...that's almost a full standard deviation out on the curve. Obviously this is a FB test, but if this was an actual one with that score....yeah.

140 is about 99.6th percentile (I. E. 1 in ~250), which you'd easily figure out if you had a true 140 IQ. Facebook IQ tests are for vanity so people share them, there's no validity to that score whatsoever.

I believe time is one of the factors of an IQ test, I'm sure a Facebook test doesn't factor that in. Also, I think IQ tests have received speculation for a little while now and I think there was a push for a different system. But like I said, it is most likely heavy bullshit and just for vanity. The final question should have been something along the lines of "Do you believe that the number calculated as your score will actually be indicative of your what your actual IQ may be?" I know I sound like a dick, but I doubt most people that take that test know what IQ even means.
las0m ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 20:19:58 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
The problem with IQ is it assumes there's a single scalar which can define and measure intelligence. Intelligence is actually multi-faceted and in general IQ tests only factor in a limited set of axes. For example, musical intelligence and kinesthetic intelligence are completely missing from IQ testing.
starico ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:07:35 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
IQ test wasn't initially designed to test fixed intelligence. Its sad that most people treat IQ test as a definite measure of how smart you are and how smart you will always be.

I've got an IQ of 138 (proper Mensa test) and I'm unremarkable in every way. It don't add inches to your dick.
My money is it publishes a low score to your page directly, so all your friends go "Lol I could beat that." so they go take the test, link their facebook account and it harvests more facebook contacts.

This is a great example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. You're so stupid you can't understand how stupid you are.
The DunningโKruger effect is a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled persons suffer illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is. Dunning and Kruger attributed this bias to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their own ineptitude and evaluate their own ability accurately. Their research also suggests corollaries: highly skilled individuals may underestimate their relative competence and may erroneously assume that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others.
The study was inspired by the case of McArthur Wheeler, a man who robbed two banks after covering his face with lemon juice in the mistaken belief that, because lemon juice is usable as invisible ink, it would prevent his face from being recorded on surveillance cameras.

I always say that if you did poorly in school, you can put "graduated in top 99% of my class" on your resume. People will misinterpret it to mean the opposite.
I assume your point is that the person thinks it's on a scale of 0-100. In which case, in most American School systems, a 51 fails, you have to get at least a 60 to pass.
Back in 1990's there were lets say limited options for online iq tests.
Any way I found one and worked my way though it a few times until i could answer every question. Back then there were only a few stock questions and they never changed.
So I was chatting to my friend and we tried the iq test. I scored 156. He scored 160!
Anyway he went off to Oxford then MIT. Started a company sold it for millions. I went on to sell biscuits.

So I just spent 20 minutes doing this IQ test. I took a number of IQ tests as a child for school so I'm familiar with some reasonably legitimate ones.
This was all pattern recognition and sequencing. Seemed like a pretty good one for only having those parts of the test. It became increasingly difficult and I couldn't figure out the last 2 questions.
Then it wanted to access my Facebook page to give me results. Sigh, fine. I have a fake Facebook for shit like this anyway.
Then it wanted me to call a number that cost $7 per call and on top of that, required me to pay โฌ10 for some detailed assessment. It wouldn't even give me an answer without doing so.
I understand that these aren't good for gauging IQ, I just wanted to see how I placed in relation to the rest of the world for this specific game.
So like, did this girl pay 10 euros just to see that?

I think it's incredible that this IQ test is so accurate... Not only does it give her an 88 IQ, but when she responds with thinking 19 percentile means that she's actually in the 81st percentile... That's just incredible.
Bheda ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 06:29:53 on January 30, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
This IQ test isn't really designed to give you high scores to make you feel good. This is somewhat legit. It's far from a full IQ test but it does grade you on your ability to figure out patterns. I saw a legit "warmup" style IQ test from a reputable website that had these patterns in them.
These tests make you sign in with Facebook and then to see your result you have to let it post on your timeline. The comment at the top is completely generated by the app, not by her.

According to the American Psychological Association:
"Intelligence test scores partially predict individual differences in school achievement, such as grade point average and number of years of education that individuals complete. (...)
Test scores also correlate to some extent with measures of accomplishment outside of school, for example adult occupational status. (...)"
Edit: Although this FB test is BS and doesn't prove anything, nor is recognized by anyone.
[deleted] ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 16:45:36 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Most of the IQ tests you will find online is utter bullshit just to get ad revenue. They will give you a high IQ making you think you're smart, and then you'll send the same test to your friends thinking that since you did so well you'll get a higher score than them. That's the basic concept of these. A real IQ test takes much longer and has mostly geometrical shapes that you have to choose from, in addition to some words you have to find synonyms to.
Haven't taken a real one myself, but I know that Mensa offers an IQ test you can do at home. According to themselves the result should be fairly similar to what you would get on a real one. I can't find one on the international page of Mensa, but I know for certain that the norwegian site has one that will display an approximate score. Don't worry, it only uses pictures.
CowCorn ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 14:44:21 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*
I had one about 6 years ago and a big part of it were pretty much puzzles with a certain time tied to it. Mind you I was ~8 back then and I think tests get 'harder' with age.
Edit: Irrelevant, but the results were an IQ of 124. Just really wanted to say that.
I don't think the tests get more difficult over time but age is a certainly factor in the overall IQ score. If I remember correctly, it compares the average results of someone of your age or age range to your own and incorporates it into your final IQ score.
CowCorn ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:18:12 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Ah, I figured they would give a 20 year old a harder test than an 8 year old for instance to achieve similar results but comparing to people in your age range seems more logical.
[deleted] ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 13:34:00 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
My mom is an educational diagnostician and for fun she gave my gf an IQ test. There were multiple smaller "tests" that were used to compute the final score and it took about 2.5 hours to get through all of the questions.
It takes a few hours IIRC, lots more questions, and each section is timed. So if you're strong in one section (say, math) and finish in 2 minutes out of 10, you don't get the extra 8 minutes to work on any of the other sections.
Online tests can't really do that, although some do time the entire test. These ones on facebook are pretty hard to get low scores on - they want you to share it after all.

IQ tests follow a bell curve that peaks at 100IQ. IDK what the standard Dev is but being in the 20th percentile is bad. Like really bad.
Every time I hear IQ I think about this. Think about your average person with average intelligence. Now realize 50% of people are less intelligent than that person. Makes you realize how stupid a lot of people are.

Woolliam ยท 24 points ยท Posted at 17:56:50 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Firesky7 ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 18:34:50 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Pretty sure that's Hearts still. You want to avoid getting the hearts (1 point each x 13) and the queen of spades (13 points) but if you manage to grab them all you 'shoot the moon' and score 0 points while everyone elaw gets your 26 points.

This seems like bad logic though. Assuming a 4 answer multiple choice test, you have 3x as likely of a chance to get it wrong than to get it right. All you have to do is identify 1 of 3 of the wrong answers and you're golden.
ryrocks12 ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 19:38:14 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
But all you have to do is mess up once and you get a 2% on the test. Not worth the risk imo
brbafkdnd ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 19:55:11 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Using this as a frame of reference, on the SATs it's much harder to identify the correct answer than it is to eliminate wrong answers because there's usually an obviously wrong answer choice.
ryrocks12 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 20:00:53 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
A lot of tests also have some true false questions sprinkled in so all it would take is one where you don't know and it becomes a 50/50 guess where it you choose wrong you lose all your points

I'm fuckawful at math but it's definitely not a 175% chance.
Your odds are 75% per individual question, but each question is an independent event, so your overall odds go down the more questions you're asked.

Since most people understand this, it's not hard at all to explain in any reasonable school.
iain_1986 ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 16:42:41 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Erm. I understand probability.

Bergys ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 17:42:01 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Not really. Seems like a fun thing that might motivate some students to try and learn all the material and try to go for the all answers wrong just to say they did it. For everyone else it doesn't matter because let's be real, noone is going to take the chance.
iain_1986 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:43:50 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Or...if you know it all...try and get them all right and...also get 100%.
You literally have nothing to gain.

A gamble.

I don't think 140 is super genius, doesn't Mensa classify 145 as entry-level genius?
Grundelwald ยท 18 points ยท Posted at 16:07:24 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Grundelwald ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 17:29:15 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

109... Is above average, but isn't particularly intelligent. Especially keeping in mind that most of Donald Trump's supporters are contributing to that average.
I think it helps to frame things to realize that most doctors and lawyers hit around 125, give or take a few standard deviations.

It wasn't the score I was embarrassed about, more the fact that the automated message declared her to be better than at least 60% of the population. 94 is not a terrible IQ score, but better than average it is not.

kickstand_in_pants ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:50:09 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
right I didn't see that on the pic, I just saw people in the comment section saying "top 81 percentile", which as I said would make her smarter than 8 out of 10 people, but the picture clearly says "19 percentile" making her "smarter" than 1.9 out of 10 people lol
If she was in the top 19%, that would mean that 81% of people ranked below her.
kickstand_in_pants ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 15:48:39 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

HedgeOfGlory ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:57:30 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
You're not disagreeing with him.

Hitchhikingtom ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 15:46:35 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Please_Label_NSFW ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:48:32 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Snowblindyeti ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 23:14:57 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
That's not true it's just a specific tool that should be applied in a specific circumstance. It doesn't give a direct answer to how intelligent someone is but it provides insight into their thought process. There's a reason it's been a standard in the psychology community since its inception.
SaintJoanOfArc ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 23:38:25 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Can you elaborate on what exactly the test gives an insight into? If it is not a valid reflection of intelligence, what exactly does an IQ test say about someone's thought processes? Legitimately curious. I've heard that the test score is basically just an indicator of class.
Snowblindyeti ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 23:43:22 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

How many people take IQ tests on the regular? Why would they care about repeat users. If anything I'd think they'd give people high IQ scores to make them feel smarter than their friends so then they challenge them to prove they're right
causmeaux ยท 17 points ยท Posted at 18:06:03 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
I think the real reason is that a high score makes the person more likely to share the result on social media, therefore giving you more advertising.

MagiKarpeDiem ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:53:09 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*
Will you explain what top 80% means, I don't understand. I get bottom 20%, but I can't quite grasp what top 80% means.
Edit: nvm, I finally get it! I always see similar posts to what you said when these things pop up. Top 80% means you did better than only 20% of people, which means nothing.
OperaSona ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 17:29:29 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

OperaSona ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:26:01 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Edit: words I add when drunk.

RebelScum1235 ยท 31 points ยท Posted at 12:23:53 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

This hasn't been the case in close to a decade. With the job market belly up and everyone and their brother trying to enlist, all branches have become EXTREMELY selective. When I was at MEPS out of the 200+ people there the only person offered a contract had scored a 97 on the ASVAB.

So, you are both correct.

alpha_dk ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 15:51:47 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
Question: I was under the impression that IQ tests were 'graded' on a sliding scale, so that a 100 today is different than a 100 20 years ago. Now, I'm not the least bit knowledgeable, but does that mean that our 'very low intellectual functioning' is someone that might have been normal X years ago?
This is the effect I'm talking about.
Rain12913 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 18:55:00 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Series_of_Accidents ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:55:31 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
That means that 50% of people have IQs above 100 and 50% have IQs below 100.
veni_vedi_veni ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:58:47 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
How do they ensure that the results of the test for population is normally distributed?
Series_of_Accidents ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 20:52:18 on January 29, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
This is known as the central limit theorem.
koyo4 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:02:19 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Just out of curiosity I took it and scored 140, which I guess is supposed to be top 5% or something like that.
When I was at the end of my high school years and looking at joining the military I took the ASVAB and got a 93, (top 7%).
Not saying that's really supposed to prove anything, and really have no idea how accurate it's supposed to be (or if IQ is even a good measure of true intelligence) but it seems to correlate.
las0m ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 18:44:47 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)*

So like, did this girl pay 10 euros just to see that?
taucxti ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 22:31:01 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

This IQ test isn't really designed to give you high scores to make you feel good. This is somewhat legit. It's far from a full IQ test but it does grade you on your ability to figure out patterns. I saw a legit "warmup" style IQ test from a reputable website that had these patterns in them.

"Intelligence test scores partially predict individual differences in school achievement, such as grade point average and number of years of education that individuals complete. (...)
Test scores also correlate to some extent with measures of accomplishment outside of school, for example adult occupational status. (...)"

Just really wanted to say that.
optimis344 ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 15:47:34 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

EpicFailWizard ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:15:11 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)

Back when I was 17 I tried a few of these tests with a couple of friends. Each of us received scores of around 120-140 from various websites.
We came to the logical conclusion that they were rigged as shit - especially the ones which would offer to send you a certificate in the post.
SaavikSaid ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 15:38:47 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
It takes a few hours IIRC, lots more questions, and each section is timed. So if you're strong in one section (say, math) and finish in 2 minutes out of 10, you don't get the extra 8 minutes to work on any of the other sections.
Online tests can't really do that, although some do time the entire test. These ones on facebook are pretty hard to get low scores on - they want you to share it after all.

you can be double digit IQ and "average"...

90-110 is average.

Half of the world population [Around 3.8 Billion people] is on double digits.

Average IQ in Canada is 99? Isn't 100 supposed to be the baseline, average, anyways? That's the whole point of the quotient.

Not every country has the same IQ, this test might take the US average as a baseline, or some other country, or even a worldwide population.

I always score the same in real timed tests and it is slightly higher then average 125. I think the test is bullshit though because I'm not super smart.

Really poorly constructed sentence. Did you get an 88?

I have no idea what you are saying, but mentioning mensa in that post is pretty funny.

If the average is 100 then 88 is below average. Or below 50 percent not 81. And iq tests are logarithmic.
awsompossum ยท 12 points ยท Posted at 10:02:36 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
IQ tests are definitely not logarithmic, it's a normal distribution.
Wheream_I ยท 8 points ยท Posted at 09:43:35 on January 28, 2016 ยท (Permalink)
IQ tests follow a bell curve that peaks at 100IQ. IDK what the standard Dev is but being in the 20th percentile is bad. Like really bad.
Every time I hear IQ I think about this. Think about your average person with average intelligence. Now realize 50% of people are less intelligent than that person. Makes you realize how stupid a lot of people are.

std dev is 15 IQ points

Yep. As a result she is normal
