It's actually not too bad of a tactic to be fair. In cover you're a stationary target. When you're moving around a lot, you generally move too quickly for The Division's clunky as fuck aiming for any human being to reasonably hit you.

The French Revolution made the game incredible for me. It's a wonderful period in history, as far as opportunity for a narrative goes. It also controlled better than any other AC at the time. Graphically speaking, it's fine. For me, games just need to meet a certain, PS3-level graphically to be enjoyable. Beyond that I'm not bothered.

that might be a fair point for some people, but personally I have never encountered any of these 'gamebreaking bugs' people go on about, and if they're talking about the occasional graphical glitches or minor bugs then I feel sorry for them that they get so worked up over that.

I feel like I never encounter bugs that people talk about. Guess I'm lucky and I get to enjoy games more haha. I like a lot of ubisoft stuff. It's just disappointing when they never deliver, graphically, what they show at e3. Doesn't mean the games aren't fun. Just a bummer when it's not as high-fidelity.
With that said, I'm excited to try this game. An open world Co op shooter like this looks pretty fun.

I and many others experienced a bug where I was barred from starting an Incursion mission entirely. Every time I tried to enter the area, I was teleported by the game to the nearest safe house. That game breaking bullshit and the ever increasing number of people shamelessly using hacks in the dark zone made me stop playing entirely. I'm not putting in my money and time for an under developed grind fest riddled with bugs just to go to a poorly thought out pvp area filled with a bunch of assholes who took five seconds to download a bunch of hacks. Fuck that game.

except not all ubisoft games have been shit, and anyone who has learned not to get controlled by hype can spot a shit game. I can safely say the last game that disappointing me was Brink, and since then I have been very careful about what to look forward too and learned to spot the signs of a doomed game.
I can safely say that if ghost recon has the gunplay thats shown, and the mission structure and open world thats shown I'd still enjoy it even if theres nothing beyond that, I know myself well enough to know I would.
I never got watchdogs because I knew it would be shit, and I got the division for the gunplay and single player exploration aspect and enjoyed it, didn't like anything beyond that and I knew I wouldn't.
this websites problem with ubisoft isn't so much about ubisoft making bad games, its the fact that most of the people on this site give in to hype entirely and refuse to listen to reason or see the red flags when its staring them in the face.
just look at no mans sky, I can tell from a mile away that thats going to bomb for most people. not because its a bad game, but because most of the people on here are making it up in their heads to be something its not, and are over hyping it to fuck to a point that it just will not live up to

This is just the PC stats so I don't have console records, but it started off at almost 100,000 players and now this past week it hasn't even reached 10K at peak times. And at this trend it doesn't have much life left.

If we look at VGCharts for another Ubi game like AC Unity (which may not be right in absolute terms, but probably correct in proportion) you can potentially argue that PC sales make up 7% of sales PC, Xbone, PS4
Even if we assume PC sales are 10% - Hell, even 20% - you're still looking at very successful game launch. Especially for a new franchise.
Plus, it uses UPlay. Which means that Steam may not be capturing all of the players.
Maybe DLC sales fall short. But it'd be pretty nuts to find out that Division 2 wasn't in the works. This is commercial success. This is the goal of E3.

Oh they're definitely not. You can just tell by the delivery that these lines were written and carefully planned in some studio far away from any gaming system.
I actually think it would be a really cool idea to have a trailer that actually showed the voice comms of experienced players / devs going through a level. It can sound pretty similar to this, actually, just with less ... cringe.

I don't get how you see the Division in this. The Division was more or less an MMO lite, with some mild RPG elements, but mostly just a cover based shooter. Ghost Recon is (or was) a tactical shooter with heavy squad elements and a focus on team cohesion. I don't know if Wildlands will keep with the more "core" aspects of earlier GR games, but I think this looks like a good time none the less.

Watch the gameplay from last year compared to this year. It's almost identical. Hell, even Watch_Dogs 2 seems more conservative in what they've shown graphically.
Also, RPG elements wouldn't really work with the gameplay formula they are going for. I'd eat that jizz soaked sock if they changed it drastically.

God, whenever actors are playing the game and reading off a script, it genuinely makes me wonder that whoever wrote it has played in a multiplayer setting before. Here's when they did it two years ago for R6:Siege. Here's some of my favorite moments.
1:50-2:00 No on screen indicator that one of the players isn't there yet, so realistically, no player would stop and spend 10 seconds waiting.
2:47-3:30 Nearly a minute is spent shooting the wall. this is clearly done to show off the destructible environment physics, but the fact they're trying to act like real players makes their "skill" appalling.
4:08, 5:05 Hilariously ambiguous answers when asking for a call-out. Even really early on in the actual game, players learn to say a general idea of where people are instead of saying "THERE, OVER THERE" *The aiming reticule glides a lot, which is normal for console players, but literally makes no sense for a player to be doing this on PC.

When I was a kid/teenager I would play games like Doom and Quake all the time. I haven't really played or watched any action games since those days. This didn't really strike me as cringe though. I guess I was just amazed at the graphics and not really paying attention.

That said, I do hate this method of marketing, it feels so artificial, like you know those who are "playing" the game have rehearsed all this, they know exactly what they're doing, and Ubisoft expect the audience to believe it's authentic.. That's the impression I get from it anyway. Would be much better to have them just act themselves while they play the game, that would give a much better example of how the game plays.

This is supposed to be the "multiplayer experience". They're not pretending to be characters but rather you and your friends on any given day playing the game together. They've been doing this shit for years.

While its certainly stupid, this is what people would want. But the devs rarely (read never) does it right. Just look at the hype The Division got. It was supposed to be so good and groundbreaking and stuff. It ended up being a totaly boring failure.
But the industry knows that stuff like this is what people want, theyre just not able to make it.

Its just as cringey as their The Division one. Although atleast The Division was ironically an accurate representation of a pair of gamers:

Well like I said, it's not the roleplaying itself, its just the script they're working with. Plenty of people roleplay while playing videogames, but this is obvious that it was just a group of executives trying to emulate what it's like. They didn't try to make it believable that's why it's cringe.

It's the kind of dialog you would hear in some movies. I don't think they wanted to seem 'cool', just exciting even if it was cheesy or whatever, they're pandering to a wider audience. I know what you mean though, but you know I think these 'fellow kids' moves, which is basically family friendly attitudes can sell more than if you try to seem like a kewl kid. Also I would like to add that maybe that cheesy foolishness is probably necessary to not transform into a too dark society.

To each their own. I think it's a little out of place because this series isn't really supposed to be a cheesy/family friendly game. Hell, the mission that they're playing is about a cartel member that melts bodies to dispose of them. On that note though, there also plenty of cheesy and family friendly games that were also showcased at this conference, so I think we're a pretty far ways from being "too dark" as you say.
Here's another presentation by the same company. It has the same idea with the whole roleplaying thing, but the writing feels a bit more natural IMO, at least compared to OP.

Watched the video, I know what you mean. I do think it sounds cooler or natural like you said, but also there's the fact that not everyone acts like that, some people is chill, some people is cheesy. And like you said the context of OP's video was not really family friendly. Maybe it's for the better if people converge to the same or similar way of being socially, or maybe even being. But part of me thinks diversity is important too. I don't know.

This is why they should have strayed from team conversation all together. If they would have talked like actual gamers did, there would be F-bombs all over the place with one middle schooler yelling at how he's gonna "fuk ur mom". I would have been content with one of the developers just talking about the gameplay mechanics and features while watching the mission unfold.
