Oh man I would've lost it. One time at my buddy's wedding, his future mother in law got up to sing and immediately she started swaying. First instinct was that she was already overcompensating. Mind you I had a lineup of at least 6 good friends from college in his bachelor party right behind her, including one, lets call him Mark, who is the type of person that will make you laugh just at the thought of hanging out with him. She starts to sing and it is so off key and fake emotional to the point that I thought it was a joke. I immediately turned red and started sweating as I was trying to hold back a laughter that would've caused everyone to stop the wedding and look at me like when Macaulay caulken reeked havoc when buzz ate the last slice of plain cheese. What made it worse was the thought of looking at mark because if I did I knew I would bust out laughing. But the problem was I wanted to look at Mark because I knew he was thinking the same thing I was. Ultimately I resisted...for 15 seconds. While I was trying to maintain composure poorly, sweating, and that brief moment of being able to stop church laughter and mostly trying not to make eye contact with this woman who was 15 feet away directly in front of me, all I could do was look around her, and Mark was right behind her. Made eye contact with Mark. Mark had this wince on his face that I could only describe as being in so much pain that someone put him in this position because I knew he wanted to bust out laughing but he couldn't out of ruining a genuine moment from his best buddy's wedding. However that's when I completely lost it with laughter and tucked my head so low into my crotch I thought I could swallow my own balls. This continued well after the song was over and my friends behind me were laughing because I was, and people in the wedding party kept looking at us. I swear she knew I was laughing at her which made for an awkward moment later that night when I saw her after the wedding when she was staying right across the hall from me.
Tldr: Church laughter is impossible to stop
