I always re-cringe myself after videos like these when I think about the process she went through leading up to this moment. Imagine how she mulled around the idea of doing the talent show before finally deciding in her own mind it was a good idea. At some point she actually sat down and tried to write out some kind of performance. She maybe rehearsed it with her little buddy in the bathroom mirror a couple times before showing the routine to her mom and dad. Of course they laughed and laughed and gave her the encouragement she needed. Imagine how she meticulously picked out her outfit for the show and spent an hour in the bathroom making sure she looked her best. The night before the talent show she was restless with thoughts. She lied awake in her bed visualizing how awesome the performance would be. She saw people in the audience laughing heartily while her friends were overwhelmed with jealousy. Maybe even after a stellar performance that boy she had been crushing on would notice her and make the move. Little did she know she would eat a big turd on stage and make a fool of herself. Little did she know thousands of people would later see it on YouTube and Reddit. cringe
Here we have a cringe from 2010. I think you'll find it fruity, fragrant, and warming. It was distilled from the sweat and tears of a young, awkward shy girl, guaranteed pure and no older than 17, and stored in a casque made from the very same tree that her talent show dummy came from. I envisioned a similar thing, except in my version, she thinks it's a terrible idea and doesn't want to do it, because she knows this is how it will turn out. But eventually her oh-so-supportive parents / friends / whoever talk her into it and she decides to give it a shot.
In your version, her expectations weren't fulfilled; in my version they were. I don't know which one is worse.

I feel like, at this point, Norm MacDonald is the king of not giving a fuck what other people think/want/expect of him. Easily one of the coolest guys ever.

that's probably not how it went. if she really get psyched up in a good way, and had lots of positive thoughts when visualising it before hand, then it would have almost certainly gone well. she was probalby nervous as fuck and excpecting shit before hand, that's why it turned out the way it did.
and this wasn't bad at all anyways. because she had such a nice audience, the only thing missing was a quick wrap up around the 2 minute mark when she realised she was done and the audience wasn't loving it.

Probably one of the best ventriloquist performances ever. Nina Conti is an English actress, comedian and ventriloquist. The face mask, rather than an actual puppet with a personality, is a mask that covers the lower half of an audience participants face and can be manipulated by a hand-piece held by Nina to make it look like the participant is talking. Poor kid. When you look at something like this from an adult perspective it's a little harmless embarrassment...but in high school world petty stuff like this gets totally overblown. The worst part is that the kids who'll be the harshest towards her are the same ones who'd never have the guts to get on a stage like that. Here's to hoping she finds something else to pursue that she really shines at.
I cringed at the microphone placement before she even uttered a word. The height of it, the harsh shadow across her face, the missed opportunity to do a handheld back-n-forth style. When she takes it with her at the end, it seems to imply she put it there in the first place. Masterclass in cringe.

Such a succulent cringe. The way my toes curled tightly, the warm rush of blood flushing throughout my face, the light perspiration building on my forehead. But the greatest feel is that of disgust, disgust toward myself, for how can I watch a fellow being go through such embarrassment and find it entertaining. But then again i feed of this cringe, I lurk in the muggy layer of my dwelling, so secluded from society that seeing someone go through this gives me such satisfaction.
I just watched the "Doug" episode where Roger signs Doug up for the talent show and he comes up with a ventriloquist act. Except when he goes on stage his dummy's head flies off and Mr. Funnie for whatever reason starts singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider." Then Skeeter draws a fake mustache and mouth piece on his face and he saves the day.
I too found it weird that they shared similar vocal traits!

In her defense though, it's really hard to get on stage and perform like this. I'm lucky no one filmed by first bass solo. It was by far worse than anything she could possibly imagine.

Things like this happen for one reason, poor preparation. She half assed her practices and thought it was going to be a piece of cake. She got on stage and froze. Going on stage, especially at a talent show, requires a ton of practice. Sadly, she failed hard. Then someone put it on the internet.

I find it strange that someone would be this unprepared for a show. Almost no material to work with at all, and you can see her lips moving the whole time.
When I was about 7, and people in movies or tv shows would something embarrassing or cringeworthy, I would fall half way of the couch with a stupid grin on my face while half closing my eyes. I'm officially back to those days
If anyone cares, she did an episode of tosh.0 recently. She said she had funnier material, and showcased some, but had to rewrite at the last minute because it wasn't school appropriate. She then realized she was bombing, and quickly ended her first and last ventriloquist performance.
This is one of the best cringes I've ever seen... in part because I choked back in secondary school while doing a comedy routine and it was almost identical to this. Luckily that was before YouTube. Thank God. This poor girl.

I reckon she just forgot her lines, "I'm lost". She didn't know how to end her performance or keep the rapport going. Then was hit by a MASSIVE wave of stage fright, not helped by the extremely overbright light.
The audience were shouting encouragement, there were no laughs but that also means nobody was laughing at her. She left the stage, not by running, crying, or shaking but just by standing up and leaving.
Yes, it was a bad act, but that's all it was, a bad act, she probably got over it ages ago.

I feel so bad for her. When I was in the 4th grade my parents signed me up for a talent show. I was so excited, then I remembered, I have severe anxiety and I'm socially awkward. I tried to get over it and try to get a routine together. I decided I was going to do a flag routine to some song by the Backstreet Boys. I really wanted to be on a drill team so I thought I would only be fitting for me to do one. On the night of the talent show, I went up on the stage, did one toss, and had an anxiety attack in front of an entire school. It was horrible. I remember going to school the following Monday and the teachers and some students would say "I'm sorry that happened. At least you did a complete toss."
I feel for this girl. I feel for her.

Why do we cringe at all? Is it because of empathy? All I want is a good laugh from the content posted on this subreddit, but I usually don't. I just end up reflecting and thinking about the depressing moments in my life.
So this girl went to my high school, and my good friend jack actually hijacked the raw footage against the schools will in an elaborate heist. I'm pleased to inform you that it will air on Tosh.0 as a Web Redemption in the new season starting tonight. So thanks jack for making this possible for all of us. Now back to my cringe binge.

I always re-cringe myself after videos like these when I think about the process she went through leading up to this moment. Imagine how she mulled around the idea of doing the talent show before finally deciding in her own mind it was a good idea. At some point she actually sat down and tried to write out some kind of performance. She maybe rehearsed it with her little buddy in the bathroom mirror a couple times before showing the routine to her mom and dad. Of course they laughed and laughed and gave her the encouragement she needed. Imagine how she meticulously picked out her outfit for the show and spent an hour in the bathroom making sure she looked her best. The night before the talent show she was restless with thoughts. She lied awake in her bed visualizing how awesome the performance would be. She saw people in the audience laughing heartily while her friends were overwhelmed with jealousy. Maybe even after a stellar performance that boy she had been crushing on would notice her and make the move. Little did she know she would eat a big turd on stage and make a fool of herself. Little did she know thousands of people would later see it on YouTube and Reddit. cringe

I envisioned a similar thing, except in my version, she thinks it's a terrible idea and doesn't want to do it, because she knows this is how it will turn out. But eventually her oh-so-supportive parents / friends / whoever talk her into it and she decides to give it a shot.

that's probably not how it went. if she really get psyched up in a good way, and had lots of positive thoughts when visualising it before hand, then it would have almost certainly gone well. she was probalby nervous as fuck and excpecting shit before hand, that's why it turned out the way it did.
and this wasn't bad at all anyways. because she had such a nice audience, the only thing missing was a quick wrap up around the 2 minute mark when she realised she was done and the audience wasn't loving it.

Very different from the kind of cringe we're this subreddit is used to. Most of the time it's more a hatefule angry cringe like "Goddamnit you suck fucking stop doing what you're doing." This is more like "siiiiiiiigh Please, cmon. Stop. For you're own good. Just... stop."

Things like this happen for one reason, poor preparation. She half assed her practices and thought it was going to be a piece of cake. She got on stage and froze. Going on stage, especially at a talent show, requires a ton of practice. Sadly, she failed hard. Then someone put it on the internet.
Fortunately, in my day there was no YouTube or internet so things like this were only limited to the school/audience members

It was just a bad performance.
I reckon she just forgot her lines, "I'm lost". She didn't know how to end her performance or keep the rapport going. Then was hit by a MASSIVE wave of stage fright, not helped by the extremely overbright light.
The audience were shouting encouragement, there were no laughs but that also means nobody was laughing at her. She left the stage, not by running, crying, or shaking but just by standing up and leaving.
Yes, it was a bad act, but that's all it was, a bad act, she probably got over it ages ago.

I feel so bad for her. When I was in the 4th grade my parents signed me up for a talent show. I was so excited, then I remembered, I have severe anxiety and I'm socially awkward. I tried to get over it and try to get a routine together. I decided I was going to do a flag routine to some song by the Backstreet Boys. I really wanted to be on a drill team so I thought I would only be fitting for me to do one. On the night of the talent show, I went up on the stage, did one toss, and had an anxiety attack in front of an entire school. It was horrible. I remember going to school the following Monday and the teachers and some students would say "I'm sorry that happened. At least you did a complete toss."
I feel for this girl. I feel for her.

Actually, it's been proven that women are less funny than men. A lot of comedy is based off of stupid shit, which men excel at. Women have to act like men in order to be funny (be gross, be stupid, be a jerk).
