I'm a big fan of the fanny pack. I've gotten far more love than hate. It also works well as a barrier when you are in tight situations, I don't have to rub my crotch on people as I walk by, instead I lightly brush them with fanny pack.

Oh cool! I took AP Comp Sci in high school and some networking classes at a tech college to pass the time before leaving for the air force. And in the air force my job will be Cyber Transport which is networking. I'm more of a hardware than a software guy anyway so networking is better for me.
Do you not wear a coat outside? How is something that small 'uncomfortable'?
I have my phone, charging cable, lighter, maybe my iPod as well and USB stick, all in my right pocket of my coat. Left pocket has my keys and wallet. In my inside pocket, I keep my external battery. It's a bit bigger than my phone, but I still hardly ever notice it there.
When I'm using it, I even keep it in my right pocket with my phone. The pocket's big enough that I can charge my phone in there and still button it up.
More of a "just in case" thing. One time, my YouTube app got stuck on a playlist in my pocket and ate through the battery. I had to call for a ride later that night, but didn't have the number to call outside of my phone's contact list, so I had to go buy a separate charger. Never again.
I put my charger in my back pocket no matter where I go, my Galaxy S4 has been through a lot and the battery that is currently in it is quite old. The problem persists that I'm a broke ass college kid who can't buy a new battery right now so I always have my charger with me cause throughout the day there are people I need to contact for non-socializing purposes.
My husband got me a iPhone for an early Christmas gift because I kept running into the battery drainage issue with my S4. I even had 2 extended life batteries but I was only get 6 hours use and then it got to where it would only charge with a 10 watt charger. If I plugged in anything else it seemed to drain. I spent months trying different things that my carrier would tell me like disabling Google Now Launcher but there would be no change. I wiped the phone twice and it still was draining excessively so I carried a charger and at least 1 spare battery with me everyday.
I have had this iPhone 6s Plus for a few weeks now and only feel the need to charge it every few days. A 20% battery will last me overnight but I would barely get 2 hours with the S4.
stephj ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 07:43:58 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
That stinks! I haven't had that level of drain issue with my s4... unless I have Whatsapp on and vibration notification for it is on. That drained my battery like a dehydrated vampire.

[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 03:23:54 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
It's a bit unfair to say basically half the country is crazy. Just the very radical ones believe this, and only the VERY very radical at that. I've never heard the term "homosexual agenda" before.
n60storm4 ยท 21 points ยท Posted at 03:37:29 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah. I understand that the Democrats are your normal conservatives and your Republicans are the radical ones. It's a shame there aren't any major left-wing parties in the USA.
In my country we have our major conservative party in power (similar policies to Obama) and it's annoying.
That's not correct at all. Most Republicans are moderately conservative. The Tea Party, which is a small division within the Republican party, contains more radical conservatism.
n60storm4 ยท 29 points ยท Posted at 04:16:57 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
The Democrats seem conservative to me. I'd say that the Republicans (looking at what I saw in the debates) are radically right-wing (xenophobic, homophobic, etc). The Tea Party is even more right wing.
Just because you're getting a lot of push-back here I'd like to assure you that you do seem to have a pretty good grasp of the situation, and those of us who are politically aware of the US and at least marginally familiar with politics in the rest of the western world, and the anglosphere at large can easily see that both US parties are mostly right-leaning and there are very few left-wing ideas in our mainstream political discourse.
Kantor48 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 17:36:24 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
I'm intrigued, what's conservative about the Democrats? They seem like a fairly standard centre left party to me.
Gun control, TPP, private healthcare (Obamacare is the conservative version of public health care), etc.
Shandlar ยท -7 points ยท Posted at 05:38:30 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Only because you are watching the media that says these things about the Republicans to attempt to marginalize them just like any other political battle. We don't really have unbiased political commentary in the US. It's either very left wing or very right wingers who get on TV/Radio to give commentary with very few exception.
Really? Because if most Republicans were moderates, you'd expect that if you added up the support amongst Republicans for candidates holding extremist positions like Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson, it'd be less than 50%.
Shandlar ยท -1 points ยท Posted at 05:36:49 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
And even that totally depends on what Tea Party you are in. They are local and not very coordinated. The few I've gone to were all extremely libertarian and couldn't give two shits about gays or abortion. It was all about lower taxes and smaller government.

Democrats are more liberal socially but they are still quite conservative. In my country the conservative party is about the same as the Democrats and our liberal party is much further left. Liberals in the USA probably vote Democrat because it's the lefter of the two parties but the Democrats are definitely conservative by NZ standards.
if they were conservatives, gay marriage would probably still be illegal
The democratic party had very little to do with the legalization of gay marriage. Though they were always less openly hostile to the idea and occasionally supportive of it, though only right at the very end there, it was mostly the courts which legalized same sex marriage state-by-state until just this year when the Supreme Court finally struck down all the bans on same sex marriage nation-wide.

That's because, unlike the poster you're commenting on, he probably is not a lumping, judgmental asshole.
Redditors are the most judgmental people I know, talking about tolerance, but only if it is the tolerance they think should be accepted in the world.
That's not how tolerance works...you can't just get angry at people for not accepting gay people and then hate on people who have different views than you do.
Nah. The point is not judging people based on things they can't control like race, sexuality, gender, etc. Judging people based on their character is completely fine.
Jb6464 ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 15:26:46 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
So does this mean we can start to judge people based on choice of religion? And all of the views that go along with it?
If they hold the shittiest views of their religion, sure. But there are a vast array of beliefs in any given religion, many possible interpretations.
Jb6464 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 00:32:45 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Fair enough. But who determines which of their views are shitty?
Regardless, the point I was trying to make was that I hear significantly more people on here constantly claiming that conservatives hate any non white males and, although there may be a few loud ones, I can't remember the last time I heard someone say anything bad about gay people. All I see are arguments that conservatives have wrong viewpoints and are complete idiots.
TL;DR. I don't see conservatives hating on gay people (I can remember two instances in the last year, and even then I don't even know whether they were conservative or not), but I see people hating on every conservative like they're out to "get" non white males.
That seems impossible. I grew up in a pretty conservative area and I see it all the time on Facebook. Hell most of the republican candidates talk about reversing the supreme courts decision to ban gay marriage again.
The only way you can not see it happen frequently is if you don't pay any attention.
Jb6464 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 02:07:13 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
No Facebook. Don't follow politics. Don't go out other than to work, which is in a smaller high school. So I guess i am not in locations where I would witness it. Do you hear it in public, or do they have secret, organized, gay-hate parties somewhere?
Not anything sinister like that. They just support taking away the right of gay people and consistently whine about the "gay agenda".If any form of media has even one gay character they whine about it. Basically they treat gay people like second-class citizens.
Conservatives are always going on about the 'homosexual agenda'
I've literally never heard of that on the internet or especially in real life until now. I swear the internet just fuels the fire for shit sometimes... all the time...
[deleted] ยท 34 points ยท Posted at 02:21:20 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
It has a wikipedia page about it, it's a big enough thing that someone drew a comic parodying it, and over 1900 people recognized/appreciated the joke.
I'm not even American and I've heard many times about the use of the term "homosexual/gay agenda"
That doesn't imply that. That's me saying it seems like I only hear about things like this on the Internet.
Fuck me, I hate this site sometimes. I say something that'd I'd gladly say in person and get a few jokes, and trolls like you jump down my throat.

I just replied to what you said based on how I interpreted the text. You know that I can't infer your tone from text, right?
Anyway, even knowing that's what you apparently meant, I can't see how "I swear the internet just fuels the fire for shit sometimes" can be interpreted as you "only hear about things like this on the Internet."
I think any logical person is gonna read that and think it meant the same thing I did.

Douggem ยท -37 points ยท Posted at 01:04:06 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
It's not just conservatives. Whenever a politician that is against gay marriage is discovered to be gay, they're accused of hypocrisy, as if gay people are automatically supposed to be in favor of gay marriage. i.e. liberals also assume all homosexuals have an agenda.
Generally speaking people want to have the same rights as others. Unless the person in question is a hypocrite or pathologically submissive, there is no reason for a homosexual person to oppose their fair and equal treatment under the law.
I've only heard "homosexual agenda" to mean the drive for acceptance/legalization. I don't think anybody can seriously deny that such an agenda has been underway in the West for some time.
[deleted] ยท 26 points ยท Posted at 02:27:51 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
I've never heard it used in that context, unless when it's followed up by an incredibly offensive statement;
Such as in 2005 when the director of 'Focus on the Family' described the 'goals' of the homosexual agenda as:
"universal acceptance of the gay lifestyle, discrediting of scriptures that condemn homosexuality, muzzling of the clergy and Christian media, granting of special privileges and rights in the law, overturning laws prohibiting pedophilia, indoctrinating children and future generations through public education, and securing all the legal benefits of marriage for any two or more people who claim to have homosexual tendencies."
Abolition of ages of consent was a longtime goal of the gay lobby. They may dropped it in recent decades for PR purposes.
Apart from that, I don't think anybody debates that the gay lobby campaigns for all of the other things on that list, do they?
[deleted] ยท 23 points ยท Posted at 02:50:10 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
No, I don't think that the 'gay lobby' campaigns for discrediting of scripture, muzzling of the clergy/Christian media, special privileges and rights, or indoctrinating children.
You understand that by 'indoctrinating children and future generations through public education' he's likely implying that gay people want to indoctrinate children to be gay?
The last thing about securing all the legal benefits of marriage is half right, but he again goes off the rails with it by adding that they want legal benefits of marriage for two or more people.
Yep there's that and even rare cases where people aren't just accepting homosexuality, but are encouraging it (trying to convince straights that they are actually gay, the people doing this are borderline insane though and are outliers). It's not really an issue or even necessarily a bad thing, but it's certainly a thing that exists, modern liberals are a product of the media though and only accept the "reality" they are told about, so they can deny the blatant obvious, much like the right wingers they're always complaining about. You'd think the two groups could get a long on the common grounds of being brainwashed by the media.

Are you for real? I mean, you don't honestly think this do you?
Because that is not what the threat of the "straight agenda" means. In real terms it means that people would be forbidden from criticizing heterosexuals, excluding them from work, recreation, public schools, private organizations, churches, etc. It also means introducing very young children to heterosexuality, and continuing to indoctrinate them about it as a "lifestyle choice" throughout their education, as well as "encouraging experimentation" with all variety of sexuality, including sado-masochism. And parents would not have a choice to "opt out" their children.
It also means that heterosexuals cannot be prevented from being in supervisory roles over children they may be sexually attracted to. And that the force of government can be used to enforce this.
It also means that though heterosexuals currently reject the normalization of pedophilia, that efforts are underway to legitimize it as an acceptable behavior.
It also means using the force of government to compel other countries to adopt similar standards despite their rejection of them for religious and cultural reasons.
And it also means pretending that the "straight agenda" doesn't mean these things, but instead means an irrational fear of heterosexuals "turning everyone else straight." If the "straight agenda" is anything, it is similar to the old Soviet propaganda, which sought to train society through indoctrination and emotions to obey.

I keep my wallet in my jacket's inside pocket. That way if I'm at a restaurant, I don't have to stand up to pull out my money when it's time to pay. Phone in the other chest pocket, keys in the pants.
Something about the screen of the phone scrambling the tap payment thing in credit cards. I don't recall exactly. I just avoid it because it's not a hassle to.
... I do not believe that LED or LCD screens create an EM field. I think you're thinking of CRT displays, which I certainly hope your phone doesn't have.
Other parts of the phone do but I googled it and while they say the phone won't erase the magnetic strip I'm finding it hard to find anything on the NFC or whatever the tap to pay chip uses. All I know is that's all I changed with my new credit card and now it works all the time, whereas my old one stopped working very quickly.
NFC and chip-n-pin both use circuits instead of magnetic media so they won't be affected.
Can you explain what components of the cell phone you think create an EM field? I'm not aware of anything but the antenna, and that's not going to affect your credit cards.

MyLearningCurve ยท 6 points ยท Posted at 00:45:51 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Clearly your battery is dying/malfunctioning, you can replace them for fairly cheap, and they're pretty easy to install yourself.

In my country we have our major conservative party in power (similar policies to Obama) and it's annoying.
iGotDatDainbramage ยท -4 points ยท Posted at 03:41:18 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Murrabbit ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 08:50:25 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Only because you are watching the media that says these things about the Republicans to attempt to marginalize them just like any other political battle. We don't really have unbiased political commentary in the US. It's either very left wing or very right wingers who get on TV/Radio to give commentary with very few exception.
n60storm4 ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 06:58:37 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Gauchokids ยท 15 points ยท Posted at 05:04:52 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

captainAwesomePants ยท 6 points ยท Posted at 05:55:40 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Democrats are more liberal socially but they are still quite conservative. In my country the conservative party is about the same as the Democrats and our liberal party is much further left. Liberals in the USA probably vote Democrat because it's the lefter of the two parties but the Democrats are definitely conservative by NZ standards.
Murrabbit ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 08:46:46 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Gauchokids ยท 12 points ยท Posted at 05:15:53 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Gauchokids ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 21:09:21 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Gauchokids ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 01:46:44 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Gauchokids ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 07:05:32 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Not anything sinister like that. They just support taking away the right of gay people and consistently whine about the "gay agenda".If any form of media has even one gay character they whine about it. Basically they treat gay people like second-class citizens.

It's not just conservatives. Whenever a politician that is against gay marriage is discovered to be gay, they're accused of hypocrisy, as if gay people are automatically supposed to be in favor of gay marriage. i.e. liberals also assume all homosexuals have an agenda.
Bis_Larryson ยท 19 points ยท Posted at 01:58:17 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Generally speaking people want to have the same rights as others. Unless the person in question is a hypocrite or pathologically submissive, there is no reason for a homosexual person to oppose their fair and equal treatment under the law.
jonosaurus ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 05:21:37 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

TakeOffYourMask ยท -17 points ยท Posted at 02:19:04 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
I've never heard it used in that context, unless when it's followed up by an incredibly offensive statement;
Such as in 2005 when the director of 'Focus on the Family' described the 'goals' of the homosexual agenda as:
TakeOffYourMask ยท -27 points ยท Posted at 02:38:22 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
The last thing about securing all the legal benefits of marriage is half right, but he again goes off the rails with it by adding that they want legal benefits of marriage for two or more people.
kyzfrintin ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 18:17:31 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Also, why would gay people want to overturn laws prohibiting paedophilia? What have gay people got to do with paedophiles?
PartOfTheHivemind ยท -11 points ยท Posted at 04:30:57 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

Bis_Larryson ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 05:45:16 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
[Hmmm....]

aryst0krat ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 20:26:21 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
ChaosMotor ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:04:32 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
NFC and chip-n-pin both use circuits instead of magnetic media so they won't be affected.
Can you explain what components of the cell phone you think create an EM field? I'm not aware of anything but the antenna, and that's not going to affect your credit cards.
aryst0krat ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:22:17 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Antenna and speaker. I'm sure you're correct and I'm just being superstitious. :)
ChaosMotor ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:33:38 on December 28, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
I'll give ya speaker, and I feel like a dumbass for not thinking of that one.

"Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet, and Watch" -- Austin Powers.
The way I relate back, as I'm blessed with 20/15 uncorrected sight is: Sunglasses, Phone (booty call), Wallet, and Watch.
When you live in a place with only a deadbolt, you don't have to worry about keys, as they're mandatory to locking to place behind you. Otherwise you replace watch with phone and testicles with keys?

Knowing people who believe there is some sort of homosexual agenda makes this 10x funnier.

[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 01:12:04 on December 27, 2015 ยท (Permalink)
Matter of perspective. I looked at it and saw it as him doing a final pocket check before leaving the house.

Should look up Milo Yiannopoulos - if you had used him for the comic, he'd have probably put it up on his twitter feed. Plus he loves the idea that he is part of the Gaytriarchy.

Is there something like this that ends with 'The Atheist Agenda'? Just today I learned that fundies believe atheists have an agenda.
