ULPT: If you forgot to reply to a text, or it was important, send the message you would have sent 5 times followed by a “are you getting my messages?” text.
Even better yet, set it to airplane mode, send it five times and the “are you getting my texts?” and then quickly switch airplane mode off, and they’ll all come through at the same time.
I was gonna make another joke comment about stealing their passports, faces and identities, but I'm very certain airport personnel are incompetent enough to not notice the name discrepancy.

Once I forgot to call my grandpa on Christmas and my dad takes it pretty seriously, so I told him I tried and it must not of gone through. So I turned airplane mode on and set my phones date to Christmas, ‘called’ my grandpa and in my recent cal list it shows that I called him on the correct date, sent a screenshot to my dad. I felt bad but it had to be done

What they are talking about is seperate time logs, for when they were sent by the first person, and a second time stamp for when they were recieved. So far I have only seen android do this.
For example, if you send a text right before going into a tunnel, it will sit there but not be recieved. When you come out of the tunnel two minutes later, it would send. The sent time stamp would be "3:45" as that's when you hit send and the recieved one would be "3:47" as that's when they got it.
Or if there is just some lag/slowness in the network.
iPhone just shows when it was actually taken by the recieving side, not when it was intended to be sent.
Even if people knew bout the time stamp thing, you could still say huh must be a bug and still get away with it. If they reply with "...sms..something something" then you're fucked, but they would be a nerd in that case and who cares about friendships with nerds

That's such a good one. Couldn't tell you how many times a small, menial detail has hurt me later on in something. The less people know, the better, no matter how menial. Of course, you don't do that with loved ones and family. Yes, to an extent. But not to people like your boss or coworkers or perimeter people like that.
When I first started office work I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why people are so vague in their responses to everything, and would smugly pat myself on the back for my comparatively “advanced” communication skills. Learned what was really up pretty quickly. Still fight the urge to over-explain, though. Somewhere it’s gotta be a valued skill set to communicate clearly and provide all pertinent information, rather than practicing CYO all the time.

Here's another. If you haven't completed an assignment, it's due shortly, and you are submitting it electronically: Get a picture or another large file that is roughly the size your assignment should be. Open it up in a text editor and delete random sections so it can't be recreated. Then save it as a .docx or the filetype the assignment should be. You have now bought yourself time between now and whenever your teacher says the file is corrupt, finish the assignment asap.

Similar but with email.
Hit forward, then copy and paste the email below as the reply including the header text (date, to, cc...) You can change the email addresses round, then edit the time to a sensible time that you should have replied in. Type what would have been your response and include a question. Copy/paste your signature above then type another email noting that they never answered your question.
It's easy to make it look like you really did reply, but they will have no record of it.

Yeah, i very early engineer a reason for local admin on my machines. I need autohotkey and python, and of course, the occasional back dated email in a pinch.
I would just say to send the message a few times, make it look like the phone messed up. Bonus points if some are iMessage and some are texts because you toggle your data on and off.
You can do something similar to this with voicemails as well.
Most voicemail services allow you to send a voicemail message directly to someone else's phone. I used to do this when I was in highschool and my dad would have a conniption fit if I didn't answer his call. When I'd see that I missed it (and the inevitable voicemail notification which was him screaming into the phone), I'd call my voicemail, delete the message without listening to it, record my message, then send it directly to his voicemail. Something like, "Hey just got a voicemail didn't see you called, I have really bad reception here. Call me back." EDIT: I also used to throw in a fake time, typically right around the same time he called, so he thought I called right back and he just didn't get it.
On their end the voicemail just shows up sans ring, so it lends credibility that you're in an area of bad reception.
tl;dr: You can do the same thing with voicemails by sending a voicemail message from your voicemail to someone else's and they'll think the reception is bad

If you are in a bad reception area why would it affect their ability to receive your call? If I have no service and I make a call and the other person does have service my call just doesn't go through. It doesn't not go through but then magically get through to a VM number. If you have service and call someone who doesn't then you magically go to VM.
Because some voicemail services are executed like I outlined. If you don't have good enough reception to make a call, the voicemail will be recorded on your end and then sent when your phone has better service.
Also, psychologically, how many people are going to question the authenticity of something so simple? If you sent them a voicemail at 3pm that said, "Hey there, it's 2pm and I just saw I missed a call from you, call me back," most people are just going to assume they missed your call and then call you back.
Nah, when someone asks why I didn't text them back I say, "I didn't feel like it." Why do I have to be reachable 24/7? No thank you, appear offline please

lmao, i've actually done something similar to this. I backdated a whole bunch of texts on my phone, so it looked like I was sending them over a few hours and they spontaneously received like 10 texts all at once.

Oh, i do this quite often, works like a gem. Build up a reputation though, make sure everyone knows that your phone tends to cause these issues. You can use it as much as you want afterwards. The old saying of give a man a reputation of an early riser and he can sleep till noon is literal in this sense hahaha
"Message" singular, unless you are sending different messages.
Personally, I never resend a message word-for-word identical, not intentionally. By asking if they are getting message(s) plural you give away that you know you message is going through multiple times.
Send a bunch from airplane mode so they stack.
Wait 3-5 minutes. "you get my message?" or, get real Unethical with it, and never mention the message(s) just start asking if they are okay, if they need help or anything. They will infer your messages were sent a while ago and the delay in response has caused you to be concerned for them.

You can do something similar to this with voicemails as well.
Most voicemail services allow you to send a voicemail message directly to someone else's phone. I used to do this when I was in highschool and my dad would have a conniption fit if I didn't answer his call. When I'd see that I missed it (and the inevitable voicemail notification which was him screaming into the phone), I'd call my voicemail, delete the message without listening to it, record my message, then send it directly to his voicemail. Something like, "Hey just got a voicemail didn't see you called, I have really bad reception here. Call me back." EDIT: I also used to throw in a fake time, typically right around the same time he called, so he thought I called right back and he just didn't get it.
On their end the voicemail just shows up sans ring, so it lends credibility that you're in an area of bad reception.
tl;dr: You can do the same thing with voicemails by sending a voicemail message from your voicemail to someone else's and they'll think the reception is bad

If you are in a bad reception area why would it affect their ability to receive your call? If I have no service and I make a call and the other person does have service my call just doesn't go through. It doesn't not go through but then magically get through to a VM number. If you have service and call someone who doesn't then you magically go to VM.

Because some voicemail services are executed like I outlined. If you don't have good enough reception to make a call, the voicemail will be recorded on your end and then sent when your phone has better service.
Also, psychologically, how many people are going to question the authenticity of something so simple? If you sent them a voicemail at 3pm that said, "Hey there, it's 2pm and I just saw I missed a call from you, call me back," most people are just going to assume they missed your call and then call you back.

Note: Yes I realize that Androids are miles ahead of Apple, but I find my iPhone quite reliable.

Wouldn’t work on iphone as when the text does come through, it shows the time that you sent it, not the time the other person received it.

"Message" singular, unless you are sending different messages.
Personally, I never resend a message word-for-word identical, not intentionally. By asking if they are getting message(s) plural you give away that you know you message is going through multiple times.
Send a bunch from airplane mode so they stack.
Wait 3-5 minutes. "you get my message?" or, get real Unethical with it, and never mention the message(s) just start asking if they are okay, if they need help or anything. They will infer your messages were sent a while ago and the delay in response has caused you to be concerned for them.
