It's common on the internet, to keep the details of another person to the minimal out of respect. In the real world, people will more than likely say boy/girlfriend, husband/wife, partner.
Eh, if I'm offering advice to/discussing relationships with someone who hasn't given a gender for their partner I'll use partner or SO for simplicity's sake. On that front, or for people who are trans or simply aren't comfortable with gender, I'm fine with using neutral terms.
But if some fuck gets on my case for calling my girlfriend "my girlfriend" when she's perfectly fucking fine with the fact that she's a girl, they can go fuck themselves. I have no problem making reasonable allowances for other peoples' comfort, but forcing it on everyone is idiotic.
I don't know why it's important to be gender neutral to the person you are dating unless that person is in fact gender neutral, or bi, or whatever else that might apply in these situations.
I'm not gonna call my girlfriend anything other than a girlfriend because she identifies as a woman. I don't expect her to call me her partner because I'm a man;
I hate that term. Especially when people say it in comments or posts on here where they just give away the gender anyway. "my le SO has such nice le boobies" gee glad you kept your anonymity by not mentioning you have a girlfriend.
To be fair, I think this suggestion is more for when you don't know the gender of the person you're referring to for sure. It's not really relevant when talking about anyone you know well enough to know their gender.
E.g. You can ask a dude "So do you have a partner/SO?" instead of asking "do you have a girlfriend?". The latter assumes he's straight.

That's actually (the literal translation of) an archaic Danish word for beloved. Today, our word for (boy/girl)friend (it's non-gendered) is "kรฆreste", which literally means dearest.

The economic world and the political world are just so much more complex than that, and so many different ideas and expressions (parties also evolve/adapt over time) Don't inherently function to the way these arrows point.
No it isn't. The Nolan chart represents the ability to reach the maximums in any direction. You can value both corporate and personal independence, and be in the libertarian block, desire central control of both, and end up in the statist block, or drift central, left or right depending on what specific issues you deem important
The chart would still be much more readable if it were a square quadrant chart like every other square quadrant chart in existence, though. It is basic and plain, but still confusing because of the insistence of special snowflake status. That is why instead of remembering the special snowflake chart, I remembered the more basic political compass chart, because it says the exact same thing, but doesn't feel the need to make it hard to read by unnecessarily making it differently designed for no reason.
EDIT: as an aside, Authoritarian up top makes more sense, because "freedom" is like "cold". Conceptually it exists, but you don't measure "freedom", you measure "lack of authoritarianism", a "lack of NOT having freedom". Because measuring how many rules and laws exist is much easier than measuring how many don't. So going up in the chart means going up in rules and regulations, from none at the bottom, to an average amount in the middle, to SocJus' police state three quarters the way up top.

I don't believe this is caused by fluctuations in gender identity, it's caused by fluctuations in the severity of dysphoria. Just because one day you feel less dysphoric and more accepting of your biological sex does not mean that you have become less of the gender you identify with.
The only legitimate instance of non-binary is when a person does not identify with either gender. Anything else is tumblrinas labelling normal changes in personality as 'Oh I feel slightly less masculine today, I guess I'm a girl for now!' No one aligns perfectly with male or female, and most people have attributes that may be more associated with one gender or another. I'm not a very masculine man by any means, and I think about my gender actively approximately 0% of the time, but does that mean I identify as a female? No.
Most people who identify as genderfluid or non-binary usually do have one constant gender, because if they didn't they'd be dysphoric as fuck. All that they're changing is their gender expression, rather than their gender identity. This might be due to the fact that they're attention seekers or it may legitimately due to the fact that they get more or less equal enjoyment in engaging in activities associated with either gender. However in this latter example, I'd say this could be said of most people, but it seems to only be these tumblrinas who then decide 'oh it must be because my gender changed.'

Also in general I think that it's a good thing to use gender neutral language, no matter if you believe in the gender binary or not, because if you're using gendered language you're drawing attention to gender, even though it doesn't matter a lot of times, and society is WAY too focused on gender imo.

Okay, maybe not obsess, but we do have a society were everyone wants to know everyone's gender, if you're talking about someone, then you'll specify their gender in 99% of situations, you don't talk about that person you met today, it's the man, or the woman you met today, even though the information is completely irrelevant.
People like to paint pictures in their minds. The various words we use to describe people instantly tell us a number of things about them (age, gender, level of familiarity, etc). If I tell you "I met this boy today", you're already imagining what I'm talking about and you're right there with me. Boy = young male human, got it. If I say "I met this granny today", that paints an entirely different picture in your mind. Granny = elderly female human, got it.
If I just say "I met this person today", you have nothing to go on. You haven't gotten invested in my story yet because you're not imagining anything at this point.
This is a solution looking for a problem. What's even wrong with calling someone your girl/boyfriend if that's how they see themselves to you? And odds are that's how 99.9x% of couples choose to identify as, even if they use also use terms like significant other.

The other day I referred to someone as "my, uhh, partner," even though they're technically "the guy who occasionally, to my surprise, wants to have sex with me." Not even someone I'd call an FWB or fuckbuddy. (Last I checked, I was a girl.)
Depends on the formality of the company you keep. A lot of people use "Esso" (S.O.), but that's so blase, now. So why not add some irony into it with a stealth pun, and say "Seeo" (C.O.)? It combines the formality and cold, neutral indifference of the Tumblr terms, with the endearment of the "ball and chain/the boss/she-who-must-be-obeyed" type gag.
That sounds reasonable to me. I prefer to say "wife" over "girlfriend", even though not legally hitched. For some reason, "partner" just seems to invite dumb cowboy jokes.
Fact is, in most states if you lived under the same roof for long enough you'd be considered commonlaw spouses. Even if you don't live together, I'd say there's no reason "wife" has to mean "spouse by legal definition of marriage". Gene Simmons had a "wife" for years despite being outright opposed to marriage (though he's married now).
Fun fact: when googling the phrase "Is ozzy osbourne married" the first suggested search is : "Is Ozzy dead." I imagine there are a lot of suprised looks when the results come back.,

Relevant: I am forced to call groups of people "folks" at work (I host at a fancy-ish restaurant) because if there is even one woman in the group someone will complain because they were referred to as a man with the term "guys". Every time I train someone they typically say guys once or twice as its a hard habit to lose and every time if the group contains a female my managers hear about it. I've also learned to never refer to groups as ladies as one of the females was transitioning to being male. Everyone is a folks lest I wish to offend someone.

I actually like using neutral terms. I call my boyfriend my partner, usually, because it's more adult sounding and I like to show support to the LGBTQQ community by leaving people guessing. It can make folks really uncomfortable if they can't figure out if you're gay. I figure this is one way to get people thinking about why we're so invested in heterosexuality (beyond the obvious, children).
Anyway, I think there is something to the spirit of this meme - neutral language can be powerful - but it's just done in a way that is too silly.

The chart would still be much more readable if it were a square quadrant chart like every other square quadrant chart in existence, though. It is basic and plain, but still confusing because of the insistence of special snowflake status. That is why instead of remembering the special snowflake chart, I remembered the more basic political compass chart, because it says the exact same thing, but doesn't feel the need to make it hard to read by unnecessarily making it differently designed for no reason.
EDIT: as an aside, Authoritarian up top makes more sense, because "freedom" is like "cold". Conceptually it exists, but you don't measure "freedom", you measure "lack of authoritarianism", a "lack of NOT having freedom". Because measuring how many rules and laws exist is much easier than measuring how many don't. So going up in the chart means going up in rules and regulations, from none at the bottom, to an average amount in the middle, to SocJus' police state three quarters the way up top.

I don't believe this is caused by fluctuations in gender identity, it's caused by fluctuations in the severity of dysphoria. Just because one day you feel less dysphoric and more accepting of your biological sex does not mean that you have become less of the gender you identify with.
The only legitimate instance of non-binary is when a person does not identify with either gender. Anything else is tumblrinas labelling normal changes in personality as 'Oh I feel slightly less masculine today, I guess I'm a girl for now!' No one aligns perfectly with male or female, and most people have attributes that may be more associated with one gender or another. I'm not a very masculine man by any means, and I think about my gender actively approximately 0% of the time, but does that mean I identify as a female? No.
Most people who identify as genderfluid or non-binary usually do have one constant gender, because if they didn't they'd be dysphoric as fuck. All that they're changing is their gender expression, rather than their gender identity. This might be due to the fact that they're attention seekers or it may legitimately due to the fact that they get more or less equal enjoyment in engaging in activities associated with either gender. However in this latter example, I'd say this could be said of most people, but it seems to only be these tumblrinas who then decide 'oh it must be because my gender changed.'

AFAIK there are actually people who experience dysphoria for both genders, so one day they might present as female, but be dysphoric because they aren't presenting male, and then another day they might be presenting male, and be dysphoric because they aren't presenting female.
However I don't think it's as common as tumblr makes it look, but for a few people it might be a legitimate issue.
Also in general I think that it's a good thing to use gender neutral language, no matter if you believe in the gender binary or not, because if you're using gendered language you're drawing attention to gender, even though it doesn't matter a lot of times, and society is WAY too focused on gender imo.

People like to paint pictures in their minds. The various words we use to describe people instantly tell us a number of things about them (age, gender, level of familiarity, etc). If I tell you "I met this boy today", you're already imagining what I'm talking about and you're right there with me. Boy = young male human, got it. If I say "I met this granny today", that paints an entirely different picture in your mind. Granny = elderly female human, got it.
If I just say "I met this person today", you have nothing to go on. You haven't gotten invested in my story yet because you're not imagining anything at this point.

Depends on the formality of the company you keep. A lot of people use "Esso" (S.O.), but that's so blase, now. So why not add some irony into it with a stealth pun, and say "Seeo" (C.O.)? Fact is, in most states if you lived under the same roof for long enough you'd be considered commonlaw spouses. Relevant: I am forced to call groups of people "folks" at work (I host at a fancy-ish restaurant) because if there is even one woman in the group someone will complain because they were referred to as a man with the term "guys". Every time I train someone they typically say guys once or twice as its a hard habit to lose and every time if the group contains a female my managers hear about it. I've also learned to never refer to groups as ladies as one of the females was transitioning to being male. Everyone is a folks lest I wish to offend someone.

I actually like using neutral terms. I call my boyfriend my partner, usually, because it's more adult sounding and I like to show support to the LGBTQQ community by leaving people guessing. It can make folks really uncomfortable if they can't figure out if you're gay. I figure this is one way to get people thinking about why we're so invested in heterosexuality (beyond the obvious, children).
Anyway, I think there is something to the spirit of this meme - neutral language can be powerful - but it's just done in a way that is too silly.

I don't get how there are more than two genders.
You are either Male, female, or if you are trans you are male to female, or female to male.
Either way you either start out as a male or a female or you are born in the wrong body and you are still a male or a female, just not the one you were assigned at birth.
