Islam is allowed to lie if it advances their cause. So take it with a grain of salt.
It's a certain branch of liberalism, i.e., mostly current Washington, DC - Hollywood liberalism. For example, Bill Maher rails against Islam and he's uber-liberal or maybe it's just cause he's Jewish.
He's atheist and was raised Catholic but one of his parents was Jewish. I get he's probably hated in here but he also is one of, if not, the most vocalized presence on television against Islam and how liberals hypocritically support it. And he rips SJWs constantly. I've always considered him more center left, but that's probably because mainstream liberalism has moved so much further left.
The Late Show is starting to wear thin on me, and it's a shame because I loved Dave, especially when O'Reilly came on. Colbert is perfectly smart, but he just drags out the most typical echo chamber BS so much. Like, let's talk about Trump's tiny hands (huh?) for 36 days straight, then we he responds once we'll act all surprised and accuse him of being obsessed and insecure. Ugh.

Well its the branch that controls the media and the DNC.
The proper word is "progressivism". I'm a liberal minded person but this third wave "progressive" feminism is out of control. They've gone full retard.
Being a liberal is about individuality and respecting individual rights. The absolute greatest individual right is Freedom Of Speech. This is where I digress from my "progressive" liberal counterparts. /justsayin.
Here's the Urban Dictionary definition ofRegressive :
Liberal who believes s/he is a progressive, however their ideas are backward, lacking enlightenment. Regressive's believe their ideas are forward thinking and evolutionary however the ideology lacks moral guidance, invoke divisiveness, and is plagued with narrow mindedness. The existence an alternate ideology is unacceptable to a regressive.
Lacking the mental capacity to accept freedom of religion, his regressive ideology finds acceptance of a religious freedom for an employer unacceptable.
What kinds of fucked up ideologies are we bringing to this country when we have worked so hard to to get rid of them for years. Real Muslims have some of the most backwarded ideologies. Keep that shit in your own country.

I used to be on board with the term "regressive left". But the more I think about it, the more it seems like a convenient way for progressives to avoid responsibility for the monster that their ideology has turned into and the damage that it causes.
Progressives ought to own up the the reality that attitudes like the own in the OP are their creation and show some responsibility for it.

I'm a conservative, and I'm proud of the Tea Party. It was maligned by the press, plain and simple. Most of the people who were active in the Tea Party are now Trump supporters (i.e. us).
There are two Tea Parties. One inspired by Ron Paul, his book Revolution and stood against the bank bailouts. And then there is the other Tea Party ran by Dick Armey's backers which stood against government backed health care by trying to keep the government from changing government-backed health care.

I feel like that's splitting hairs. If you want a movement to be successful, you need a big tent to fit all the diverse members. The moment the movement starts fracturing itself into the purists and "the others", is the moment it loses cohesiveness.
If you ask me, the left and right are roiling with popular movements that say the same thing "spend our money correctly", the Tea Party just further defined itself by saying "if you're not going to spend our money correctly, don't spend it"

Well not all liberals are progressives. You might not think of yourself as one. But the poster above me identified himself as "very liberal" which is a pretty good indicator that he likely thinks of himself as "progressive'. Are you implying that the bible doesn't have some just as insane beliefs from the approval of slavery, the banishment of shellfish and a nearly identical level of anti-equality regarding women? I think it's about time millenials fight for their own autonomy by using the best business/internet/technological applications out there to build innovative, sustainable businesses that are terrific economically, socially and environmentally. We can make HIGH ENERGY organizations that have community uplifting projects and reinvestments at thecore of their models while remaining profitable and make much of what is known as social services obsolete. With technology and cooperation with healthy market competition and emulation, we will THRIVE. We can do better than what we have done; WE WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Edit: high energy up in here

It's a certain branch of liberalism, i.e., mostly current Washington, DC - Hollywood liberalism. For example, Bill Maher rails against Islam and he's uber-liberal or maybe it's just cause he's Jewish.
bestbiff · 30 points · Posted at 15:19:56 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
He's atheist and was raised Catholic but one of his parents was Jewish. I get he's probably hated in here but he also is one of, if not, the most vocalized presence on television against Islam and how liberals hypocritically support it. And he rips SJWs constantly. I've always considered him more center left, but that's probably because mainstream liberalism has moved so much further left.
MrJanglesLovesBooty1 · 24 points · Posted at 15:34:13 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
Maher deserves credit for calling out Islam and standing up for free speech. He even makes fun of feminism and political correctness.
But he also acts like a typical leftist weasel on some other things.

Ugh.

The proper word is "progressivism". I'm a liberal minded person but this third wave "progressive" feminism is out of control. They've gone full retard.

Aye. Liberalism is about liberty and respecting individual rights. These people have no concept of rights.
Globalization101 · 2 points · Posted at 18:16:53 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
Being a liberal is about individuality and respecting individual rights. The absolute greatest individual right is Freedom Of Speech. This is where I digress from my "progressive" liberal counterparts. /justsayin.
30plus1 · 6 points · Posted at 20:23:07 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
Yup. This is why I'm voting for a republican for the first time in my life. On the left I only see people shitting on the first and second amendment.
Their idea of free speech is smashing up police cars and shutting down political rallies.
Swarby · 5 points · Posted at 20:50:37 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
With all due respect, in this case the term "regressivism" is much more accurate and fitting.

Here's the Urban Dictionary definition of Regressive :
Lacking the mental capacity to accept freedom of religion, his regressive ideology finds acceptance of a religious freedom for an employer unacceptable.

Most of the people who were active in the Tea Party are now Trump supporters (i.e. us).
KosherDensity · 3 points · Posted at 18:56:10 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
There are two Tea Parties. One inspired by Ron Paul, his book Revolution and stood against the bank bailouts. And then there is the other Tea Party ran by Dick Armey's backers which stood against government backed health care by trying to keep the government from changing government-backed health care.

I feel like that's splitting hairs. If you want a movement to be successful, you need a big tent to fit all the diverse members. The moment the movement starts fracturing itself into the purists and "the others", is the moment it loses cohesiveness.
NoExcuseHereBoss · 2 points · Posted at 18:47:45 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
If you ask me, the left and right are roiling with popular movements that say the same thing "spend our money correctly", the Tea Party just further defined itself by saying "if you're not going to spend our money correctly, don't spend it"
[deleted] · 2 points · Posted at 21:17:51 on May 21, 2016 · (Permalink)
Or more simply, stop taking so much of our money in the first place.

Well not all liberals are progressives. You might not think of yourself as one. But the poster above me identified himself as "very liberal" which is a pretty good indicator that he likely thinks of himself as "progressive'. It's to the extent that he identifies himself as a part of that movement that he is in some way responsible for the attitudes and climate which accommodates the SJW/regressive phenomenon.

If you've voted for progressive candidates you are responsible; if you've supported SJW movements you're responsible.
You'll have to excuse me on the Tea Party, though. I'm Canadian and I don't know anything about them.

If you're here, presumably you agree in the importance of the Wall and the ban on Muslim immigration, as well as the need to protect domestic industry and American workers. But I doubt that we would have the same reasons for supporting these policies.

So would it not be religiously insensitive for someone to condemn Catholicism for having many of these beliefs? And to extend, would a politician be condemned for criticizing these parts of Christianity? I personally think if ANY politician were to claim any of these things about Catholicism they would be essentially blacklisted from all politics let alone be a presidential candidate. Is any of that incorrect in any sense?¿?¿
