I keep forgetting how fucking savage 12 year olds can be. They'll form a decent argument and destroy your self confidence all in one blow.

There was this crazy guy, mid 40's and liked to wear tank tops, who lived across the street from a public youth soccer field in my home town. Always yelling at kids to go home because they were too loud and stuff. One day he was working in his garage when a parks league soccer game was going on across the street. A ball was kicked out and it rolled about midway up his driveway, so the guy walks out with this huge carpenter's nail and starts stabbing the ball till it's flat and he throws it back towards the field. All of this in front of the stunned kids, parents, and referees. Cops came and had a talking to with him. I never know what exactly happened with that, but from that day forward he became a local legend named "The Slasher." Pretty sure his house got egged a lot.

These kids outwitted this lady in every way. Even down to the realization at the end that she just wants attention. It's incredible that people like this are out there, and good on the kids for keeping the entire thing civil (aside from the obvious kid jokes) even though this lady deserved a gigantic fuck you from the start.

These days that could be considered assault.

The kids acted very mature in standing up for their rights as residents of the neighborhood and she acted like a spoiled little child.

Every neighborhood has a person like this. They think they are king/queen of the neighborhood. I once lived in a neighborhood with a person like this. She would attempt to tell people what to do. Luckily there was no HOA. She was having some major landscaping done to her back yard and the landscaping crew decided they needed to use a bobcat for some work, but they could not get into her backyard because of a fence. She told them to take the bobcat into her backyard by driving through the neighbor's back yard. in the process, they destroyed part of their lawn. Luckily, the neighbor was home to witness the damage. When the landscaping crew went on their lunch break, he went over and removed the master key, seated in the engine compartment, and placed a massive chain and lock around the wheel housing. When the crew came back, they could not use, or even physically move the bobcat. When police arrived, and stories were sorted out, this lady was placed in handcuffs for acting like she did not have to listen to the police. There was some kind of lawsuits filed against her and the landscaping company. He won both cases. She was less apt to act like she had any authority after that.

This is actually the plot to the next Sandlot movie.

I've been teaching kids in South Korea for a few years, and maybe I don't appreciate their wit because they're not speaking my native language, or maybe the kids here just aren't that bold and witty to talk to an adult like this, but I was really surprised. This reminds me of this one time a few years ago when I heard my next door neighbor yelling at a few kids in our cul de sac. They were throwing a football or something similar and having a good time but my neighbor was being an asshole about it. He was ranting and raving.

I was watching from my second floor window and noticed he had a grill lit up in his backyard. He was grilling some steaks and corn on the cob. I always have loved my corn on the cob grilled but when I opened my window I smelled the most wonderful aroma ever. He was cooking with charcoal and some kind of wood chips.

You see, I have always used a propane grill because I thought that charcoal would be too difficult to control the temperature. I did a little research and found that charcoal grilling is actually quite simple so I went to Wal-Mart to get a cheap charcoal grill and some coal. While I was at the store I found a good grilling cookbook so I got that also. This book had many good recipes and I was excited to try a few of them out.

On the way home from Wal-mart I called my wife to tell her about the grill and the new recipe I was going to try and before I could get a word out I noticed she was crying. I asked her what was going on and she said she had a bad day at work and would tell me about it when I got home. When I got home she was laughing and surprised me by having dinner ready. She said she really had a good day and it was a joke to keep me from suspecting she had such a wonderful dinner ready. This is why I love her so much and I will always remember that day because it is the little things in life that make it so good.

I used to live in a cul de sac. We would play street hockey about every night during the summer (about 4-8 o'clock.) There were elderly folks living on 3 sides of us that were never bothered by our antics. One of them would even come out to give us candy. God pre-9/11 was glorious times.

I only watched about five minutes but everyone here is sticking up for the kids. I'll agree that they were in the right and that they were quick witted for the insults, however, I feel they knew what they were doing when they were antagonizing her. They could have placed that net anywhere else, but instead chose to place it in front of her place and argue about it for 15 mins. They weren't on her yard, but I'm willing to bet that their shots won't be in the net 100% of the time.

Edit: I figured I would get downvoted for stating the unpopular but obvious. My point was not that the kids should not be playing in the cul-de-sac, but rather that it was quite apparent that they were targeting her. This encounter obviously was not the first encounter that members from these two neighbors have encountered each other. They most likely had the insults already lined up, just like they knew what reaction they would get, and they were ready to film it. What this lady did wrong was not get the parents involved, which is what allows me to believe that this has happened before, with the parents either not doing anything about it or instigating it, and they are now targeting her.

Of course everyone is or was a kid before, myself included. Lots of kids have had neighbors who have caused situations like this before, again, myself included. I agree that cul-de-sac's are a relatively safe and great place for kids to play sports. I know I enjoyed playing soccer, hockey, baseball, football, and basketball on them, however, I also know know that we caused our fair share of broken windows, dented cars, and torn up gardens. Difference was, we didn't purposely aim our shots to target a neighbors house. Most of those accidents were to our own family's property.

That being said, I would actually be out there playing as well. I've always enjoyed backyard/street sports, and the best way to enjoy them is to not have people causing problems for you. The best way to not have people causing problems for you is to be considerate of them.
