To further explain, this comic and the phrase gained popularity on /r/me_irl and subreddits have a tendency to leak across reddit.

This one's been around a while. First instance I saw was on 4chan. It is used as a way to show social ineptitude. It first stemmed as a variation of "you too" or "you too, thanks" which is sometimes mistakenly said after a restaurant server says "enjoy your meal."

This makes it a strange thing to say because the server will not be having a meal as well. Some mistake this slip of tongue as social ineptitude.
