It's inconsistent because the game doesn't prioritize updating/calculating every block all the time. It's part of why it can run on weak hardware, and why it runs so much smoother, but also why timing large redstone contraptions is hard. Your torch will update when I get around to it!
You calling the marketplace content trash is pretty insulting to the minecraft community who makes the content and is able to make a living thanks to minecraft. Sure there is some low quality content but calling all of it trash is outrageous and false.
Itโs just one of the other reasons I prefer 4Jโs Console Edition when playing on consoles. They strived to make their version the closest to Java mechanics as it could be with every update - from menus and redstone to smaller things like 3D items and sounds.
4J has made a quality version of the game for a premium console experience that Microsoft has since tried to replace with their shitty mobile port that has a giant โMarketplaceโ button flashing in your face every time you turn the game on.
Come on, Microsoft. Thereโs plenty of demand from people who like the Console Edition. Let 4J update the game that they made.

Exactly! I'm a PS4 player, and Bedrock brought nothing but corruptions, bugs, and the damned marketplace. Good thing the Edition option exists. If not, i would've quit the game!

bedrocks version has more logic in it seeing as if it slows you down that much on the y-axis it should do the same on the x-axis but this is a game where blocks float around theres 3 dimensions teleportation and magic so logic shouldnt be a factor
I've played both and this is my opinion on them:
Bedrock: runs better and is very good for playing with friends, however, the severs can get pretty laggy and the mechanics side of it is very broken as well as Redstone being more random than my internet connection.
Java: good for playing if you are more about Redstone or making farms and stuff like that. The modding side is also very fun but might require more than the power of a couple toasters to run, even without the mods since it is terribly optimized but that might of changed since 1.15 came out.
Bedrock redstone is the very definition of random. On Java or 4Jโs Console Edition, each redstone mechanic has a certain tick priority: repeaters are first followed by torches, etc. If you have two torches or two repeaters that activate on the same tick, the one that was placed down first gets priority. This is consistent with every world, all the time in Java and Console Editions.
Then thereโs Bedrock where you donโt know what the hell will get updated first. It could be the repeater, or the torch, or the comparator. Itโs pretty terrible when youโre into building some more complex redstone machines.
Itโs just another reason why I canโt understand why Microsoft is trying to replace Console Edition with Bedrock, a mobile port - itโs quite the downgrade in multiple aspects. Thereโs definitely the demand from many console players (and of course redstone enthusiasts) to continue updating the Console Editions, and 4J isnโt doing anything right now other than the occasional Marketplace map. Come on Microsoft, let 4J update their own game.
Not at all is the randomness fun. I used to think of it like that and try and work with the random Redstone, but itโs just so inconsistent. You canโt make complex contraptions without them being super slow to make sure it works 100% of the time, or you just canโt make it at all. Inconsistency is the worst thing we could possibly have
I've played both. Java: mods, redstone, calculations. Bedrock: can work on a literal potato with a screen. Don't see a reason to play bedrock if my computer isn't a potato.
Itโs just because bedrock is used for consoles and phones and canโt handle as much as a computer can, Java has a bunch of extra things such as being able to dye text on signs, and even being able to mix beacon colors, Java will always be way more superior

Ok that's definitely not the reason why Bedrock doesn't have these features. It's a matter of time and development effort, not technical capability. Making the player's Y movement faster while sliding down honey blocks wouldn't impact performance.

Iโm a bedrock player lol, but I still know Java is more superior just due to the fact that bedrock is made for lower end devices and they canโt do much probably just because of phones, I feel like if it was just for consoles that it could be more like Java, but we do have a few things but now Java is even getting those, such as us being able to set our spawn point without having to sleep.

Most of the things I like more about java are the bugs they have lol literally unintended. quasi connectivity, and tnt dupers, I've played both but i just enjoy Minecraft either way, doesn't make a huge difference to me personally, most people defiantly agree with you though.
Thatโs not true at all. Up until Bedrock released, 4Jโs Console Edition (on all consoles, even on last-gen) was pretty much on perfect parity with Java with every update - redstone, menus, world options, sounds, features, etc.
The problem is
1 - the lack of development effort put into Bedrock by Microsoft compared to the effort put into Console Edition by 4J Studios, and
2 - the need to accommodate for the lowest common denominator. Bedrock is the Pocket Edition at heart, and porting it to consoles - devices it was never intended for - was never a good idea. Because 4J treats each version of Console Edition separately, they could adjust each as needed for the platform, and the result was that it runs great no matter what console you play it on. Meanwhile, Bedrock still has to accommodate for the lowest tier devices, and therefore lacks so many features that Console Edition has. Not to mention that porting a mobile game to consoles has never worked out that well.
Especially on Switch, Bedrock just seems like a lost cause. Terrible audio distortion, lag, loading, and crashes make it the most unpolished version of Minecraft Iโve seen. Meanwhile I go back to 4Jโs Console Edition on Switch and Iโm in my main world in a matter of seconds. Come on Microsoft, just let 4J update their own game.
Yeah I know, the whole phone aspect was supposed to be my actual point, I know consoles would be easily able to handle some things Java has since there made for gaming, and thatโs how bedrock is on ps4 kinda, I was exited for the update at first because I always used commands in Minecraft PE but that hope went away fast because bedrock on ps4 is a disappointment at the moment
I prefer bedrock over java because you can play with all your friends that are on other devices. Also java is super laggy. The only plus side to java is the superior redstone and the fact that you can download addons.

Java is superior on many levels, not just red stone and addons (mods?). Iโll list a few: datapacks, better resource pack optimization, better servers, hosting custom servers for free, lag? use optifine, unlimited mods, better optimized game mechanics (such as tnt that wonโt make your device die), more customization, among other things.

When it comes to performance, BE absolutely trumps JE. You can run BE well on a potato but JE can barely run on low-end devices.
That said, JE is better than BE in almost every other way. Performance and crossplay are the two major advantages to BE though, making it the best version for the many people who need those things.

It can, but it still must run off of a server/pc, not the individual device. That is the difference. You can run java servers straight off of your computer, and play on it using the same device.
That is true. But as I said you can play with your friends that are on different platforms on bedrock and that is why I prefer it over java. They are both really good versions of Minecraft but I am just saying my preference.

People can defend Bedrock as much as they want, but from my experience, it is vastly inferior to Java. There's just way too many bugs and inconsistencies and missing features (and micro transactions) for it to be worth playing.
I have both java and bedrock but I can only play with friends that play on xbox, ios, switch ect using bedrock. If you had java you got bedrock for free back in 2018.
You ever take the time to think why that may be the case? Java only runs on PC, Bedrock has to run on xbox, phones, pcs, switch, ps4 and they have to all perform good and have their features work.
I also really donโt get the hate people have for โmicro transactionsโ on Bedrock as if it ruins the game, it doesnโt. It gives the people that play Minecraft a way to make a living with Minecraft by selling their content on the marketplace

Itโs just because bedrock is used for consoles and phones and canโt handle as much as a computer can, Java has a bunch of extra things such as being able to dye text on signs, and even being able to mix beacon colors, Java will always be way more superior

Ok that's definitely not the reason why Bedrock doesn't have these features. It's a matter of time and development effort, not technical capability. Making the player's Y movement faster while sliding down honey blocks wouldn't impact performance.

Iโm a bedrock player lol, but I still know Java is more superior just due to the fact that bedrock is made for lower end devices and they canโt do much probably just because of phones, I feel like if it was just for consoles that it could be more like Java, but we do have a few things but now Java is even getting those, such as us being able to set our spawn point without having to sleep.

I think superior is the wrong word. different? Yes. But they each have bugs and they each have advantages. Also im pretty sure you can used colored text on signs, at least on Xbox, at work so can't test at the moment .

Most of the things I like more about java are the bugs they have lol literally unintended. quasi connectivity, and tnt dupers, I've played both but i just enjoy Minecraft either way, doesn't make a huge difference to me personally, most people defiantly agree with you though.

Thatโs not true at all. Up until Bedrock released, 4Jโs Console Edition (on all consoles, even on last-gen) was pretty much on perfect parity with Java with every update - redstone, menus, world options, sounds, features, etc.
The problem is
1 - the lack of development effort put into Bedrock by Microsoft compared to the effort put into Console Edition by 4J Studios, and
2 - the need to accommodate for the lowest common denominator. Bedrock is the Pocket Edition at heart, and porting it to consoles - devices it was never intended for - was never a good idea. Because 4J treats each version of Console Edition separately, they could adjust each as needed for the platform, and the result was that it runs great no matter what console you play it on. Meanwhile, Bedrock still has to accommodate for the lowest tier devices, and therefore lacks so many features that Console Edition has. Not to mention that porting a mobile game to consoles has never worked out that well.
Especially on Switch, Bedrock just seems like a lost cause. Terrible audio distortion, lag, loading, and crashes make it the most unpolished version of Minecraft Iโve seen. Meanwhile I go back to 4Jโs Console Edition on Switch and Iโm in my main world in a matter of seconds. Come on Microsoft, just let 4J update their own game.

Yeah I know, the whole phone aspect was supposed to be my actual point, I know consoles would be easily able to handle some things Java has since there made for gaming, and thatโs how bedrock is on ps4 kinda, I was exited for the update at first because I always used commands in Minecraft PE but that hope went away fast because bedrock on ps4 is a disappointment at the moment

I prefer bedrock over java because you can play with all your friends that are on other devices. Also java is super laggy. The only plus side to java is the superior redstone and the fact that you can download addons.

Java is superior on many levels, not just red stone and addons (mods?). Iโll list a few: datapacks, better resource pack optimization, better servers, hosting custom servers for free, lag? use optifine, unlimited mods, better optimized game mechanics (such as tnt that wonโt make your device die), more customization, among other things.

BE has that too.
When it comes to performance, BE absolutely trumps JE. You can run BE well on a potato but JE can barely run on low-end devices.
That said, JE is better than BE in almost every other way. Performance and crossplay are the two major advantages to BE though, making it the best version for the many people who need those things.

It can, but it still must run off of a server/pc, not the individual device. That is the difference. You can run java servers straight off of your computer, and play on it using the same device.

People can defend Bedrock as much as they want, but from my experience, it is vastly inferior to Java. There's just way too many bugs and inconsistencies and missing features (and micro transactions) for it to be worth playing.

I have both java and bedrock but I can only play with friends that play on xbox, ios, switch ect using bedrock. If you had java you got bedrock for free back in 2018.

You ever take the time to think why that may be the case? Java only runs on PC, Bedrock has to run on xbox, phones, pcs, switch, ps4 and they have to all perform good and have their features work.
I also really donโt get the hate people have for โmicro transactionsโ on Bedrock as if it ruins the game, it doesnโt. It gives the people that play Minecraft a way to make a living with Minecraft by selling their content on the marketplace
