Bedrock Edition is getting an incomplete update today

Today, the Village & Pillage update was released for all platforms. Most of the users here play Java Edition, and don't know just how bad Bedrock has it. 1.14 has tons of features that the Bedrock equivalent, 1.11, simply does not have. And yes, it's more than just foxes. Here is a list of Village & Pillage features releasing today for Java Edition that Bedrock Edition does not have.

If you are a Bedrock player, check out these links to see what you're missing out on (note: I didn't watch all linked videos entirely).

This is a very common situation. Until we can raise awareness about the Bedrock team literally skipping crucial features, Bedrock players will continue to receive inferior products and won't even be aware of it. It's more than just foxes. Almost none of these features are included in the current 1.12 beta, by the way.

Minecraft 1.14 the Village & Pillage update is almost here. Final changes include a new crawling feature to navigate hard to fit areas; sneaking now reduces the player height to 1.5 blocks; new advancements; cats can respawn; villagers shake their head when they won't trade; trader llamas now disappear when the wandering trader despawns; the game sound system has been updated; pillagers no longer open doors; the properties of transparent blocks have changed; portals keep the world open for longer when an entity passes through; foxes no longer eat soup bowls and are less derpy when pouncing; and several menu changes have been added. Enjoy!

- Fixed using /data modify to replace all list values with a different type wiping the list
- Fixed hover/click events in books being misaligned vertically by about a third of a row of text
- Fixed written books with change_page event only updating the book client-side

Minecraft 1.14 Loot Table and Custom Recipe Demo

I play bedrock, but I pay attention to java snapshots. This is really disappointing. All these features look like a lot of fun.

I really don't want to dive too deep into all of this, but here are a few things you may not be considering:

Updates on Bedrock come out at a different pace. Scaffolding and pandas came months ago, and foxes may take a few months to come. Different pace from Java doesn't mean things are wrong. On either edition.

You mention a few things that are Java exclusive as missing on Bedrock, but neglect to mention the Bedrock exclusive features. This makes for an unfair comparison. (Easy example here would be new advancements on Java, but you ignored the new achievements on Bedrock.)

And you totally ignored the new scripting engine for Bedrock. Official modding APIs are not on Java, but they are currently being added to Bedrock. Why would you ignore this big picture change and instead focus on more minor issues (i.e. different nether wart sounds)?

And lastly, while some of these changes should/will be brought to Bedrock, bear in mind that you complaining about it on Reddit--particularly in such an unbalanced way--will probably not do much to accelerate their implementation.

Thank you, I appreciate this reply. I think I should clarify some of my intentions.

It is true that the two editions have different update schedules. And for the most part this does not bother me. However, aside from foxes I have heard zero news whatsoever on the status of these features. In the update aquatic there were features that came late like phantoms (all good), and features that didn't come at all (not okay). This pattern is being duplicated here.

The few insignificant Bedrock exclusives do exist, but I feel no compulsion to share them because it distracts from the message. This is not an update comparison list, it is a list of features that the most common player will not be getting. The scripting engine is mostly irrelevant because Java already has modding, and we have official word that the team is satisfied with that.

Lastly, I certainly don't intend to whine. After all, I don't even play Bedrock edition casually and don't really have any personal stake in the matter. But I think Bedrock players are uninformed, and focus only on "obvious" missing features like shields and foxes, while allowing the team to get away with skipping less-obvious features. I'm trying to raise awareness for this unfortunate situation, not pin blame.

You forget that while java edition is mainly only a computer only version, bedrock edition spans from PC to consoles to phones. This obviously makes testing and implementing new features much harder. As such, on PC and xbox (it may be the same on other platforms, I don't know) there is a club that you can join to help test the new features and report bugs. The reason these updates take so long to implement is because it's a multi platform version. Fixing and implementing for many platforms is quite a difficult thing to do and personally I applaud Microsoft for even trying to pander to this many people at once.

They were over here saying that the versions would be "too difficult" to update on their own. Microsoft has nobody to blame for the difficulty in updating something that has to work on Xbox and Switch and PC and mobile but themselves. I'm no expert but maybe having each of these as their own separate thing would have made it easier. I understand this allows for cross platform play for mobile/xbox/PC (and the switch, but I don't know how that works), but personally I don't find this such a huge gamechanger for minecraft, and I'd be willing to trade it for quality updates any day.

Guess what? Nothing new. Bedrock has been a complete disappointment. The worst part is that, as usual, most of these smaller features will be forgotten and will never come to Bedrock (still waiting for dead coral, or placing item frames horizontally, or map markers, or the 1.12 noteblock sounds, or spectral arrows)

I'm playing on Bedrock edition just because a friend of mine has no good pc so he can't play java and cross play ftw.

But I really miss some of those forgotten features, such as noteblock new sounds. Or even bugs, there are looots of bugs on Bedrock (pillagers spawning underground during raids, spawning mechanics begin shitty, looting enchant not working properly) and seems like they don't care about fixing those. They just rush new updates.

And don't get me started on feature parity...

I think there's a feature (not sure about "feature") that both versions have now, and is a real shame:

Rushed updates.

This wasnt like this on the past, for both Java and Pocket Edition and Console Editions (Pre-Bedrock). I remember Java and PE updates being done well, no performance issues (1.13-1.14 Java and 1.10 Bedrock having major performance issues) but also less bugs. I think the developers should not rush to updates just to release the update the day they think of because in one beta or snapshot was everything okay and they said "Okay we can release this next week!" Then the next beta breaks everything and they dont want to delay it. Its a real shame and I hope it gets improved in next updates for both Editions.

Yeah, Bedrock team is rushing through updates and don't really care about more technical bugs (such as Looting working as sh*t). Right now a beta 1.13 is out and an official 1.12 is not even out.

God I would love stackable campfires and I also want the wither rose. Foxes seem cute but I could give or take them because they dont have any special use I've seen yet but what I really want is making custom colored and named waypoints on maps using banners. Right now all we have is slapping map copies in item frames but theyre all green and unnamed so its not as helpful as it could be

I am a bedrock and i had No idea it was this much that we were missing!! I am a Little dissapointed in bedrock.
