I'd totally throw all my diamonds into a fire to make it blue in my survival world!

To be honest, that would be a cool game mechanic. Spend one diamond to permanently recolor a fire block just for cosmetics?
It's basically saying "I'm so rich, I literally burn diamonds to look better."

You could totally do this with a Spigot plugin (and a resource pack of course). The plugin part would take care of setting (and maintaining) blockโs light level to 15 while internal serverโs settings would disable random light updates to prevent it from going off.

I donโt mean the fire going off but the light level of a custom retextured flower to look like blue fire. The replacement isnโt actually fire anymore AFAIK.
I figured it was one of the new fangled damage value things. Like drop the diamond on it and it turns to a fire block with a damage value that isn't normal and give that specific damage value fire a retexturing

I think I recall something about custom damage values on blocks / item which arenโt supported in vanilla being untexturable. Basically pink/black cross pattern. So you can retexture a hoe with damage being set to a specific value but you canโt retexture iron ingot with damage 10 to look like copper. At least that was the case in 1.8, did 1.9 snapshots change it back?
